Fujii DMD, PC

The office staff, hygienists, and the doctors are all very nice. The facility is clean and very modern. We moved here from out-​of-​state and have always had regular dental care. Suddenly every one in the family needs some expensive dental work. I «needed» to have a crown redone which wasn’t causing me any problems, but Dr. Fujii saw something on the x-​ray so I agreed. Well the crown didn’t fit right the first time it was done here (the doctor didn’t stay in the room to set it and the tech did) so it had to be redone a few months later. Now I have increased sensitivity to cold and sweets from that crown. I never had any issues before the crown was redone here.

5 Stars for Dr. Fujii. He has a gentle hand and a friendly demeanor and if it were not for his front desk I would be going back.
But, something about a receptionist who leaves voicemails and emails with short and rude messages that I have not been in in a while. True i have not however, do you really think that continuing to call me and be far less than friendly is going to want me to rush back???
It’s too bad that someone in the front of the house with not great customer service can ruin such an amazing Dentist experience.

Awesome experience for my first visit: x-​rays, a cleaning, and a check-​up. They were very friendly overall, explaining every part of the procedure, and they had no problem answering my numerous questions. What most impressed me was their use of the ultrasonic cleaning pick, which was much more comfortable than the usual metal scraping pick. Thanks for a great visit!

Going to the dentist has never been my favorite thing to do. However, every time I leave here I am always saying to myself that wasn’t bad at all! The doctors are great and the staff is wonderful!

Dr. Fujii is the best dentist in Portland and his staff is just as good. Just an overall excellent practice with great patient care and dental services.

I went to Dr. Fujii after seeing two glowing reviews here on Unilocal.
Dr. Fujii’s office was beautiful and state of the art. His staff was friendly, but it didn’t seem genuine. It seemed forced, like they were trying to have a good time despite something being wrong.
He poked my gums and shouted out numbers to his staff. He wasn’t gentle. It hurt. And when he was done he told me that I was going to lose teeth if I didn’t have root planing done. That my teeth were to the point where I had permanent bone loss and I needed to come in four times to work with his dental hygienist.
Dr. Fujii said «I wonder why your teeth are so bad. Did you grow up in a place without flouride?» It seemed like a weird thing to say.
I also needed an $ 800 mouth guard.
His receptionist handed me a treatment plan for $ 4,200 not including the mouth guard. I made my appointment to get a root canal and to start the root planing.
I left the office feeling very worried about my teeth.
I went home and my partner took a look at the treatment plan and said, «That seems really expensive.»
So, I shopped around. A friend suggested I get a second opinion with her dentist. 3 weeks later, this dentist said, «The medication you’re on causes dry mouth, so it’s important that you floss and brush really well before you go to bed. Otherwise you could have tooth decay. «
And he came at me with that gum poker, and I said «I already had that done.» And he said, I“ll be gentle and he was. He called out numbers that were much lower than the numbers Dr. Fujii called out.
I still needed a root canal, but the treatment plan they gave me was $ 2500. The difference in price on the root canal and crown alone was over $ 1,000.
So, I went to cancel with Dr. Fujii. The receptionist was weird about me cancelling. «When are you going to reschedule?»
«I am going with a different dentist.»
«What did we do wrong?»
«I don’t want to talk about it.» (I didn’t. I just wanted off the phone).
«Don’t you want us to get better?»
The tone in her voice was like I had let them down.
So, I went to this other dentist. He did a beautiful job on my root canal and crown. He was thorough and clear, and my mouth is in great shape.

Place was great, very professional and prompt service. They were able to get me in right away when I needed a root canal done and it was very quick and done well. Staff is very friendly, Jessica was great at cleaning teeth and Misty was able to take impressions without me gagging which is huge for me. Nina at the front is wonderful! Always has a smile on her face and always so friendly. Great practice, and takes away the anxiety of going to the Dentist!

I have really only had 1 traumatic dental experience, and that was when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. Other than that, my twice a year visits to the dentist have been pretty uneventful. I never had braces growing up, only had 1 cavity, and a few sealants every now and then. Its always kinda been a boring experience.
However, the first immediate thing I noticed about Dr. Fujii’s office was how friendly the staff was. Dr. Fujii remembers my name and details about my life and it blows my mind every time. I feel like I’m on an episode of Cheers, and I’m Norm coming in for my beer and 6 month cleaning. Its like I’m home. I have had to have a crown put in, and he referred me for braces. I knew this was bound to happen at some point in my life, so I faced the music and followed his referral to Dr. Ainslie.
Now that I have the braces on, and have gone back in for cleanings, the staff just continues to be great. Its a wonderful experience going to the dentist, because they do what they need to do, and I feel like they would never do anything unnecessary. I trust him and his staff, and they answer any question I have. This office is certainly one of the best in Portland.

I grew up in Denver, Colorado and had what I thought was the best dentist in the history of dentists. Nothing hurt, everything was always perfect, and his staff treated my parents and I like family. We went there for 20 years. I even flew back home for my dental appointments after I moved to Portland. After a while, I stopped going entirely (to the dentist, that is).
This turned out to be a bad idea. When my teeth began to hurt, I realized that I had to find dental help, and fast. So I started asking around. I asked pretty much everyone I knew for recommendations. Having a good dentist is really important. Having a kind and gentle one is even more important.
When the recommendations began rolling in, Dr. Fujii started to come up multiple times. One of my friends actually called him up and scheduled an appointment for me, to my surprise.
I think I terrified him with my horrible teeth and gums, but he was kind and told me how to fix them. All of the staff there are upbeat and very kind. I’m scared of going to the dentist, but Dr. Fujii and his team made it all worth it. They helped me fix my teeth and learn about why I need to take care of them.
I highly suggest Dr. Fujii, but only if you’re a really nice person who would really benefit from an awesome dentist. If you’re not, then go elsewhere!
