Stephanie did it again! I love my new color and cut! This is the second time of been to Stephanie and I’ve not been disappointed. She is super sweet, listens to what you want and gives you a super great cut/​color. Thank you!

The best! I love this place and haven’t trusted anyone other than Mark Bailey with my hair since 2000. He’s amazing and brutally honest. He didn’t let me get my hair striped with red and blonde in the early 2000s. He informed me that I’m «not a Spice Girl.» Thanks to him… I don’t have any hairstyles that I regret in the past 15 years.
If you want Mark to do your hair… I recommend two things:
— BE ON TIME! Respect his time by being 5 minutes early for your appointment.
— Book in advance. This is one busy man!

I have attempted calling this salon multiple times. I have never heard back once & they never answer the phone at any time during business hours. Very poor customer service. Sadly to say if I do hear from them, I will not be giving them my service.

Tami Lane has been my hair dresser since moving to Portland in 2010, and as long as she stays in Oregon, I won’t ever go to anyone else! I am very picky about my hair and hate when I love the first cut, but a stylist can never replicate it… I have never had that issue with Tami! My hair is AMAZING, each and every time I see her. Plus, she constantly has new techniques to try when I want to try something new, as she stays on top of her craft by participating in hair shows across the nation. My husband also sees Tami, and is equally pleased with the results.

I’ve been coming to see Mark Bailey since earlier this year, and wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world! I went to see him with the intent of getting extensions, knowing the ones I wanted would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $ 2000.
Anyone else would have jump at the opportunity to make a quick sale and set me up with those extensions, but not Mark! He examined my hair and convince me to grow out my own hair, and save the money that it would cost me to get the extensions and the damage that they would cause to my natural hair.
He gave me advice on how to take care of my hair to grow it out and recommended a haircut and style that works well for me.
My hair is now about 23 inches long, super shiny and healthy. I will definitely stick to the guy that is willing to turn down money for the sake of a client! He is honest, knowledgeable and super talented. I LOVE him, and no one else will be touching my hair for a very long time!
Tips:
Book him up in advance, as it can be hard to get in.
Be punctual; he starts right on time!

I don’t trust my ninja head to anyone but Carrie. I’ve tried other salons. From quality to atmosphere Flux has my vote. Heck I used to work in the business. It’s my fav place. I dig the cool unpretentious vibe at Flux & Carrie keeps me looking sharp.

So happy I came across this place! I found myself nearby (from out of town) and in desperate need of a bang trim, so I stopped in to check it out. They don’t usually take walk-​ins but when I mentioned I wanted to get my bangs trimmed, the stylist there (Haley) said she had a free moment while her current client’s hair was processing and took me anyway! She did a great job and cut my bangs perfectly– actually better than they were before they grew out. I was super excited about her willingness to take me, despite not normally doing walk-​ins, but even more excited about how it came out. She was really sweet and great to talk to, also, and her kindness set the tone for the day. Would totally recommend this place.

My third visit to Carl G. Stark and I’m just now getting around to writing a review? Shameful!
I’ve had some all right hairdressers in the past five or ten years, but no one I really loved. That all changed when I started coming to Flux.
Carl asked me about what I was looking for, of course, but he also asked me lots of questions about my hair care routine and wasn’t afraid to suggest something new. He pays attention to what is going to work with my face, my hair, and my life.
I love my hair since I started seeing Carl!

New to Portland and very happy to have found Ken and Flux! It was clear that Ken was an experienced professional and I felt comfortable with him at once. He did a beautiful job with my red color and got my bangs perfect. I’ll be a regular.

Just got a haircut from Ken, who is impossibly sweet and patient — I’m a talker, and if someone is cutting my hair, I will chat their ear off. I definitely did that, but he was so engaging, and I had a really nice time — I hope he did too, because, since I work next door, I’ll totally be back.
Oh yeah, and my hair looks/​feels great. Wash, cut and blowout for $ 25! «Walk-​in Wednesdays!»

Carl Stark, nuff said.

Carlos is really great! He is one of those rare stylists who actually listens to what you want and will take the time needed to make you look and feel your best. He is very creative and knows what will look good on you, but he was focused on what I wanted and making sure I’m getting my vision done, not his — I really appreciated that. Carlos is very talented when it comes to edgy cuts, always up for experiments, and his color jobs will last and last and last… What a wonderful addition Carlos is to Flux Salon — I’ll definitely be going back!

I followed Hailey here from another salon but it turns out that my mom has been going to Tate at Flux since it opened. We both love the salon, our stylists and the product. I highly recommend it!

I just got an email from the owner of the salon to ask me about my experience. I appreciate his concern of the service at his establishment and wanting to correct things. If I was back in Portland and needed my haircut I’d probably go back and make an appointment with the owner himself.

With baby fine blonde hair, I’ve had my share of bad cuts — and I know a great stylist when I meet one. Flux has really grown in the last few years (as evidenced by this new, much bigger location), and their success is due to their fabulous employees. I’ve never met a more down-​to-​earth, knowledgeable group that I can always count on to do a great job & give me an HONEST (yet supportive) opinion. Add a laidback, non-​snobby atmosphere, fair pricing, great location w/​easy parking… and I’m a happy (and pretty!) girl. Note: If you want pretentious froufrou, high prices & a stylist that’ll tell you whatever you want to hear (regardless of the truth), this probably isn’t the place for you.

Haley has been cutting and coloring my hair for the last 4 years. We’ve gone from simple highlights to platinum blonde and everywhere in between and my hair has looked great at every stage. I’ve had long hair and just recently chopped it all off — without fear because Haley always does a fantastic job and makes the style and color work for you. People actually stop and ask me about my hair — all thanks to the fantastic color and styling of Haley.
The location is very easy to find. The street parking is great– I’ve been there 3 times and have never had a problem finding a spot. The atmosphere is laid back. They use amazing products and my hair looks and feels fantastic every time I walk out of the salon.
Do yourself a favor and give Flux and Haley a try– you won’t regret it!

I always have bad experiences with hair cuts. I’ve just gone to person to person, trying to find someone who won’t either a) mangle my hair or b) put 5 lbs. of product on my head.
I came here a little bit ago and Melody was c) none of the above!
My hair was pretty long and she shaped it up really well. I liked it when I got home and still do two weeks later. I’ve already recommended her others and will totally go back when the time comes.

Pros: Mark is great — I followed him from his previous salon. He is great at knowing what kind of cut will (and won’t) work for your hair type… definitely worth every penny.
Cons: It can be difficult to get in for an appointment. And I second the smoking smell… there’s nothing worse than cigarette fingers fluttering around your face.

Melody is amazing. So much so that I’ve followed her around the city throughout the years. Before I left Portland, I had been going to her for about five years.
She’s young and has a great sense of style and what looks good with each client’s face shape, hair texture, etc.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find a stylist like her in my new city. I’m still searching.
