Best hair cut ever! Kyla is amazing but everyone is super nice. The salon is super chic but doesn’t feel pretentious. Bonus points for free coffee and great music!

I went to Shauna for my first Deva cut and it was a terrific experience. She is the best! Very kind and compassionate and just really very informative. I have a terrific haircut and one of the best experiences ever for a hair cut. I really can’t recommend Shauna and Venus Allure enough. The rest of the staff that I met/​observed were all kind and accommodating.

I love my appointments at Venus Allure. The staff is very friendly, the room is light and bright, and they use great hair products including at least one natural line. Shannon is a great, personable manager. Amy Rose is an amazing colorist and stylist. I’ve sent friends to her and they are never disappointed. She’s very patient and really listens to what you want. My hair can be weird and unruly, but she expertly thins and tames it.

Wanting to change my 20 yr old style a bit, I went to VASS and asked Darcy for a style. Wow. I was super impressed! As a guy, new is hard to accept, but I’m happy already :) Granted I’m biased cuz I know folks there but what a great choice I made. I’m switching.

After the manager, Shannon, responded to my previous review I called her just as she instructed to have another stylist fix my color since I had already gone elsewhere to have my cut fixed before she contacted me. We scheduled a consultation for Saturday ¹⁰⁄₂₄. I received a phone call from her and a voicemail asking to call her back, I was at work and couldn’t answer. I then receive an email from her canceling my appointment without speaking to me directly or an explanation. So now I’m still stuck with a bad color job without it being fixed or being reimbursed. I should have known from my first experience that this salon and it’s management is awful not just those who lease chairs.

I absolutely LOVE Stephanie. She completely understands what I want my hair to do and cuts/​colors/​styles it exactly to my needs and wants. Not to mention she is a total sweet heart and so easy to talk to while you are having your services done. I will never go anywhere else for my hair needs.

Venus Allure is a clean, modern, light filled Portland kind of salon. The stylists are eclectic and fun. Shauna is the best. A sweet, beautiful girl with a knack for color. It’s not an inexpensive experience but it is worth it!

I went to Shauna for a cut after she rescued my friend’s hair. She did an amazing job!
I have fine hair that I have no intention of ever styling. Yet, I would like it to appear full and bouncy (unreasonable, sure).
Shauna listened patiently to my requests. Then gave me exactly what I asked for– defying science!

I get my hair and nails done here. Fumi is the nail tech and she is incredibly talented to say the least. She is so nice and fun to talk to as well makes for a great experience. Shauna does my hair and she is undeniably great! The owner and manager in on top of it and very hands on with the clients and provide a 5 star experience to everyone that walks in. I am a client for life!

To begin: I am a nail biter. It has been a hard fought battle over years, and there are times in which my nails and cuticles are left completely ragged from my incessent nibbling. When I first booked an appointment with Lora I was petrified that she would turn me away, but in a bright and cheerful manner she assured me that it was no problem.
I had never had my nails professionally done following a shameful experience in which I was openly mocked for being a nail biter. After the initial call it was never mentioned again and Lora provided a manicure that left me feeling positive about the state of my fingernails for one of the few times in my life.
After a few months of appointments my nails grew long and healthy, and my cuticles never need to be trimmed at all. I do not know if this is a side effect of having a gel manicure, but the overall health of my nails and the surrounding areas has improved greatly.
Her colour choices are very creative and she is willing to mix and match any colour or glitter to suit anyone. She is prompt and quick, all the while paying great attention to detail and making entertaining and insightful conversation. Her rates are very affordable.
I honestly have no bad remarks about Lora or her services.

I’ve been going to Julie Speight for years and would follow her to any salon, she is truly amazing! She’s versatile and is great at both cut and color. She has cut my hair when it’s long and has done some amazing above the shoulder cuts as well. She’s attentive, fun to talk to and is always up to date on current styles. I always leave feeling refreshed and looking great, you definitely won’t regret having her do your hair!

I’ve been going to Lora Workman for a little over a year to get my nails done, her work has always been amazing and she has been consistently friendly and attentive. Even when I’m not sure what I want, she helps me find something that fits perfectly. She also uses Light Elegance, which I love for its durability and vibrance.

Had a great pre-​wedding manicure/​pedicure with Fumie. This was the first time I’d seen her. She’s kind, energetic, and very thorough. She’s got a million different options for nail art, if you are into such things. She painted a very cool butterfly wing on my ring finger :)
Will definitely be back again. Very clean place, free wine (!), and a talented aesthetician. Oh, and I had the service done 3 weeks ago and it’s still holding strong!

I have to say that I love this place. I have had two really great experiences here– and each time with the same stylist-​SHAUNA. I adore her. Why? Because she is SHARP as a tack, has a fantastic sense about people, and gives a mean haircut. She loves working with curly hair– which I have– and she gave me a beautiful and functional cut that was exactly what I wanted. She also cut and bleached a strip into my teenage son’s hair– and this was the first time he let anyone NEAR his hair in ages. She was so cool with him. Gave him a great style that he liked and they talked music for a good hour and a half while she worked on his hair. Also– Shauna didn’t just cut and style my hair, she taught me how to style it myself in a way that she knew I would since I don’t spend much time on my hair. I love Shauna and you will too. She knows what’s up with your hair. She knows what’s up.

After a visibly botched all over color at another place in Milwaukie, I looked on Unilocal for top reviewed places in Portland. I selected Venus Allure.
The stylist, named Shauna, not only had to correct the mess left in the wake of my days old hair disaster, but had to make the outcome look realistic, natural and professional.
Happily, Shauna succeeded at it all! This meant something special for me because, as a blind person, I can not directly observe whether the work is well done and must go through my day until I can find someone honest and clear-​eyed enough to tell me honestly. My daughter filled that role this go-​round and said that the work looked amazing.
Thanks, Shauna and staff for your welcoming and professionalism. I plan to re-​visit Venus Allure regularly.

I went to Shauna at Venus for my very first DevaCurl haircut on my disorderly curly hair. It was my first dry haircut experience, so I was very apprehensive. Shauna was amicable, observant, and well-​informed. She doesn’t have curly hair, but she KNOWS curls. She is Deva-​certified, but even beyond that, she is an artist and acts with an instinctive aptitude to bring out the best of your curls. She took the time to cut each individual curl group — two hours of work in total. While she was cutting she explained the method she uses (Deva Curl). She took extra time to show me a new way to dry my hair, and was very considerate with product recommendations, but not at all pushy about me needing to buy anything. Plus, she was just very charming and enjoyable to be around. I’ll end this review with the honest admission that I cried after my haircut — tears of relief that I finally found someone who can bring out the best in my hair and, by extension, my natural beauty. Having curly hair is an arduous journey, and everyone’s curls are different. I highly recommend Shauna if you need help embracing your specific curls and making them look their best.

Shauna apprenticed my girl in Chicago — where I moved from — who I had been seeing for something like 8 years. I hoped I would be in good hands. I was afraid but badly needed a cut. I LOVE SHAUNA. Not only did we talk about everything for 2 hours, she meticulously cut my hair, trimmed and fixed my bangs, buzzed me where I needed buzzing and spit me out feeling gorgeous. I felt like myself again.

I have gone here a few times for gel manicures, and had a great experience. I saw the name male technician each time, and found him to be polite, professional and extremely detail oriented. He did a perfect job every time.
I bought a groupon and I hope they post another one soon, as the price is a bit high to do regularly without one. I don’t know why I can’t remember his name, but he is tall and maybe the only male technician working there. So much better than the other salons I’ve been to. This place is clean and ventilated. I never wonder if I’m going to catch something here.
