We have also installed IP camera systems for various businesses as well as performed home theater installations. We have also done a number of POS installations for restaurants and retail. We handle both large scale and small/​minor jobs.

History

Established in 2010.

Flux Computer Repair has established itself here in Portland Oregon as a friendly, reliable provider of computer repair and wide spectrum tech services. We offer both drop-​off repair service (you come to us) or in-​home and onsite computer repair service (we come to you) for both home and business.

Primarily when we started, we saw a big gap between «tech skills» and «personality». When you invite someone into your home or just deal with them during a drop-​off, you want to feel comfortable with them.

Too many «geeks» are grumpy, judgmental and suffer from inflated egos or some other social dysfunction. We understand that «tech knowledge» and «people skills» go hand-​in-​hand.

We want you to feel comfortable asking questions and understanding what we do, why we do it and all the options you have. We always treat you like family and offer the best combination of «cost-​effective» and «tech-​effective» options and repairs.

We never try and up-​sell like big-​box tech «geeks»…Ever.

Business Owner

Is Lead Tech and owner of Flux Computer Repair here in Portland. He began working extensively with computers two decades ago in Chicago as a sound engineer in a busy recording studio. It was then he began studying computer architecture and hardware repair.

Since that time, he has been trained in both Apple and Windows based repair and maintenance. His clients range from home clients to banking institutions, attorneys, accountants and businesses of all sizes.

He believes computer repair is as much about relating to people as it is fixing the hardware and his business model reflects that philosophy.

I thought my old Mac was due for the bin. SO S L O W! Drove me nuts! Jason put a new hard drive in it, cleaned it up and returned it in 24 hours. Now it’s faster than when I bought it all those years ago. Amazing! This is the guy to use for your computer problems. Can’t thank him enough!

Jason is honestly the best tech I have ever worked with — Seriously! He worked his magic and was able to solve an issue that many others struggled to resolve. My computer is much faster as he found Malware that my Malware prevention software did not stop or remove. Additionally, he is technical but not a traditional «techy». He is very personable and explains what he is going to do so that I can understand the issues. He also lays out clear pricing to help put you at ease so that you know what to expect and are not blindsided at the end. Honestly, you would be a fool to go anywhere else!

As a (very) small business owner who works from home, computer issues are a Big Deal for me. When my old workhorse of a laptop suddenly broke down following a bad interaction with some antivirus software, I was very flustered and more than a little panicked as well.
I feel like I hit the jackpot when I found Jason and Flux Computers. When I called Flux, Jason responded very quickly and was immediately informative and helpful. On a professional level, he is resourceful and very knowledgeable. On a personal level, he is courteous, attentive, and incredibly nice. While other repair services might have dismissed my old dinosaur as not worthy of their time, he not only took it on but went above and beyond the call of duty, returning my computer in a far better state externally and internally than when I gave it to him. I had my computer back way sooner than I expected (less than 24 hours!), and the repair fee charged was very reasonable.
It was incredibly refreshing and gratifying to be dealing with a talented professional who is also an honestly nice, caring person. I could not recommend Flux and Jason more highly.

I had a terrific experience working with Jason. I spilled coffee on my laptop and Jason was able to dry, clean, and repair it right away. I lost some functionality, and Jason did some research and came up with a great solution to remap some buttons using open source software. Jason was very accessible and patient while I was freaking out, he worked really quickly over the weekend, and the price he charged wasn’t at all exorbitant. I highly recommend Flux.

Jason knows more about Comcast issues than any Comcast tech (no big surprise, there). He knows Mac & Windows better than the employees at those stores. He even can fix/​optimize your audio home theater issues. Instead of complicating my issues with 3 or 4 different «experts», he is definitely your all-​in-​one professional that does it all. My equipment and software is 10 times speedier and runs more efficiently than ever before. He’s my IT guy from here on out and will recommend him highly to anyone, particularly if you run a small business from home and use both Windows and Mac. The home theater issue he fixed: Well that was the cherry on the cake. And he makes house calls… bonus points!!!

It doesn’t get better than this.
PLAN A: You have computer issues you’ve tried to problem-​solve and you’ve been on the phone with tech support and downloaded and printed off all instructions and followed them to the letter, many times over, but 20 hours later nothing’s fixed!
PLAN B: You call Jason at Flux. He comes over and looks at your system. He analyzes what’s wrong and then fixes it. You have a glass of wine, pay him, and get back to work.
I’m going with PLAN B for the rest of my life.
It’s rare to find a person who really listens to your concerns and then addresses them, mindful of thing like cost, usability, and customer awareness. Thanks, Jason. I’m a fan.

I own a small business and I have been for many years our IT person. All of my knowledge comes from Google-​ing our computer problems and finding answers that way. It worked well in the beginning, but as we have added more people our problems have become more complex and my time, well there is just less of it.
We recently had an tricky issue with our Wifi network. Jason was the first person I called and I was glad to hear this sort of thing was right up his alley. The problem was solved for apporx $ 200 in equipment and $ 250 in labor. A steal of a deal considering the productivity we had lost dealing with the problem over the last few weeks. In the future I will no longer waste my valuable time being the IT person and just call Jason.

Very highly recommend Jason and his expertise. My computer was horribly infested with a few viruses and he was able to diagnose, remove and protect my hard drive and return the computer in a timely fashion-!!
I began noticing a few weird pop-​ups and lagging on my computer a week or so ago. I called Jason to inspect what all was going on w/​it. He did a full diagnosis and was able to tell where the problem came from and where the virus had all spread to.
It was refreshing to have someone who was sincere and truly knowledgable in helping me with my computer— I am not computer savvy at ALL and it was nice to find someone who really did want to fix the problem than prey on and weasle me out of time or money. He even went so far to help me with my router and personalizing my desktop afterwards to make it user friendly and malware protected.
Definitely recommended and will definitely use him again!

I was in need of a new computer guy to help me with hardware configurations since Old Town Computers shut down, and Jason filled the role perfectly. He even came out to my house (because I’m not driving at the moment) and within an hour and twenty minutes he installed a new power supply and GPU and had everything running perfectly. Jason is INCREDIBLE. It can be really scary choosing a computer repair business with all of the so-​called experts out there, but I felt pretty confident calling Jason after seeing his Unilocal reviews. I’m so happy I did!
My husband’s laptop crapped out (blue screen of death type deal) just days before a huge work conference and we needed it repaired FAST. Jason answered my first call and was able to get my computer in the very next morning. By that evening he had the situation figured out. I was really impressed by his ability to describe the issue in a manner I could understand and it was also clear that he really knows his stuff. I felt like the laptop was in good hands.
I was even more impressed how quickly Jason got the computer back to us! With all the issues he found and the work that needed to be done, I thought for sure it would take longer but he understood we needed it back fast and he delivered. Now, the laptop is running better than the first day we brought it home! He’s a magician.
In fact, he was so great that I asked him to work on the computer at our small business. Turns out, not much can be done for the cheap desktop we purchased but he was still able to make enough changes that it runs a lot smoother and has helped improve the quality of life running our gym.
I will take every computer I ever own to him and would HIGHLY recommend him to friends and other business owners.

Had a problem with one of our desktop computers recently. Dell helped troubleshoot but turns out they mis-​diagnosed the problem selling us on a new motherboard when it was really a power supply issue. Gave Jason a call at Flux Computer Repair and before I could even finish describing the problem he knew exactly what it was and came right over to our office to pick it up.
He worked on it and delivered it on time and at a reasonable price. His service time was amazing! A+
