Crowne Plaza Portland-Downtown Conv Ctr

I travel here on business and love this hotel. Comfortable bed and nice room amenities. There is a Denny’s around the corner, Walgreen about 2 blocks and Starbucks on 2 sides. Streetcar stops out front too although the I haven’t ridden it.

I am giving this hotel that I thought was a 5 star hotel a 1 star because it’s no better than the Holiday Inn’s that I have stayed in, first off when we got there the valet guy didn’t come out to the car and when we told him we were using valet he didn’t offer to help with our bags. We checked in and the check in wasn’t bad the lady at the front desk wad very nice, we got up to our room and walked in and was not impressed it looked like a normal hotel room you would find at a Holiday Inn or Best Western. Our room was next to the elevators and was very noise all night. Every morning when we went to take a shower and there was pretty much no hot water and hardly no water pressure and the bathroom was so small when u went to close the door you had to almost stand on top of the toilet to do it. We paid for valet parking and every time we came back to the hotel there was never an attendant there waiting for us we always either had to look for one or take keys to front desk. The day we left I called down to ask if someone could bring up a luggage cart and was put on hold 4 times so had to go down myself to get the cart, I called when I was walking down to ask if they could have my car brought around to the front and the front desk forgot to tell the valet guys to bring the car to the front I had to ask them to do it. When they finally did I took my bags out and they didn’t even offer to help load them into my car or take the cart back inside. I was not very happy wth this hotel being it was a Crown Plaza and it’s suppose to be a 5 star hotel chain.

We stayed 3 nights here for our Portland trip since I got to use my IHG rewards points for the stay. At first, I wasn’t sure about the location because it was on the other side of the river but downtown was very close by. The hotel offers a free shuttle anywhere within 3 miles so that was perfect for our outings since pretty much everywhere you want to go is within that limit. (If you were to take an Über into downtown, it would be probably $ 7 – 11 depending on where you are going) There is also public transit options nearby that are easy to use. We also used the free shuttle service from the hotel to the airport which was great. We waited about 15 minutes to be picked up.
The service was great. Everyone at the front desk was super nice and helpful. The rooms were nice and had everything you would need like a fridge, microwave, and a Keurig. They also had other amenities like indoor pool, gym and free bicycle rentals. I would probably stay here again in the future since the rooms were nice and big.

My fiancée and I weren’t thrilled with the cost of our hotel room prior to arriving, but once we stepped into the lobby and saw how nice and welcoming it was, we started not to mind as much. Our room was lovely and the staff was more than helpful. After we were checked out of our room, we had nowhere to store our bags until our bus left that night, and they held onto our stuff for us, with no additional charge. They offer free shuttle rides for their guests, and when we needed a ride to the greyhound station past shuttle hours, and again, after already checking out that morning, they covered our taxi. I can’t wait to return. c:

Exceptional service! I’ve had quite an experience here at the crowne plaza. I had a few things that were delivered here before I checked in. The night I checked in, I checked with the front desk if they had received anything under my name. They checked their logs and there were no records of anything arriving for me. The guest service man checked each individual box for me that they had in the back, and called a few other different related hotels in the area if they received anything, and they hadn’t received it. I showed him it was delivered, but he apologized as he tried his best. I called the company to reship it and they did in two days. The night I received confirmation, I checked the front desk. The kind lady said she had received my order across the street at another hotel she worked at during her shift there. She saw that the address said crowne plaza, and took it across the street to start her shift work there. There was one box missing so I walked across the street to retrieve the second box, and they had my first order too! Thank goodness for that lady who noticed, otherwise I would have lost two packages! Just wanted to share how the staff at crowne plaza goes above and beyond to service their guests. When in Portland, stay at the crowne!
Their rooms are on the smaller part, but their beds and pillows are comfy. Our rooms didn’t get cleaned the last two days of staying there but no bother to me. Their lobby is decorated nicely, and I like how you need a key to operate the elevators. Their downstairs restaurant is pretty bomb too. We know portland has good food, but hotel food was sufficient.

Ok. So where do I start… Stayed here for 5 days for a convention. Rooms super clean… before I get into that I will tell you that the concierge here are awesome!!! Karlyn thank you for getting our reservation changed last minute at ringside steakhouse. You are a sweetheart! Ms. Tindel. You set us up the first night and even had a special dish sent over. Checked us all in. Took care of us like we were platinum members and we didn’t even ask for the treatment. Your a natural.
The little spa treatments in the room rock. So from a guys point of view that likes pampering, wow. Sandalwood scented oil and a facial moisturizer with foot balm. Dammit… amazing.
Workout center has free weights up to 50lbs, bosa ball, weighted medicine balls with handles, treadmill, bike, elliptical and benches. Good spa and pool as well.
Breakfast buffet was good but the menu for me is what I chose. Max and a Cuban hostess named Yuni, which I probably misspelled so sorry! You guys were awesome. Accommodating and friendly. You know what service is!
The bartender was a great guy as well, super cool. Knew his stuff for sure. Black spiked hair.
Hotel is 5 min cab or 8 min walk from convention center. Don’t forget to go to citizen café for the best healthy/​scratch foods in the area. I don’t care for trade show food and this place was perfect. A stones throw away from the convention center with the personality of a laid back and contemporary restoration hardware meets orange.

It’s OK I suppose. The sofa had burn marks on the fabric even though it’s a smoke free hotel. This area of Portland is very dead, and kinda sketchy. The last day there I witnessed a cleaning staff member pick up a used water class and dump the remaining water on the carpet in the room across the hall from mine. Wow!

I am very impressed with their renovations. Cozy and up to date. Very clean. The salt water pool and hot tub were nice. TV was small and there is some road noise but over all I think they did a great job. Beds are very comfortable.

We have stayed at other Crown Plaza hotels across the country. Most provide a safe welcoming environment. You can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig. This location is just scary. The homless men are leaning on the fence surrounding the parking lot. The location is also far from downtown city center. High price and bad location. We prepaid so going to a different place is kinda out so next time I will Google the areas around the hotel. Bit of my bad. I would not stay here again.

Good location, we did have a rental car. Either to downtown or over to southern Washington was just minutes. Ate a dinner meal in the restaurant, it was good and for a hotel, reasonably priced; on another day we had dessert, again a good choice. Room was clean and all in good working order. Staff was all courteous and helpful.,
We were there during a heatwave (high 90s) and got a box fan to supplement air conditioning in the room.
I am a handicapped person who utilizes a Segway for mobility and all staff were accommodating and helpful and friendly for our visit.

Had a pool that had garage doors that open up to let air in.
There are bicycles that the hotel offers (I think just 4) but they are snagged pretty early and the holders of the bicycles can keep them for as long as they wish for the day.
The rooms are clean and big. We had a king bed and a sofa (also a pull out bed). There was also an area with a refrigerator and microwave.
Free shuttle from airport to hotel but it costs $ 10 from the hotel to the airport.
There is a great biscuits and gravy restaurant up the block (like 2 min walk) and a cidery.
Location was good, you could walk to downtown but that might be a 30 min walk. However an Über or taxi could solve that problem.

The front desk service and shuttle service are amazing, however, the house keeping department is not doing their job.
Upon arrival, they cleaned the room. They took forever, we know because we were waiting in the room next door since we booked two rooms next to each other.
They hung up dirty towels with stains in our bathroom which one of us accidentally used not knowing it was there.
They was a used coffee cup after the second day they cleaned, and that’s disgusting, given we haven’t had coffee here.
Housekeeping is important because we need to feel clean where we sleep and this was definitely not the case when we stayed here. It felt dirtier each time housekeeping came in.
Bad experience. Will not be staying here again after this trip.

My stay at the Crowne Plaza was a 5-​star experience for me. The hotel appears to be in a safe area and is very walkable. It is only a few blocks away from Steel Bridge which directly leads to west side.
The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle ride from PDX. The shuttle drivers were the ones who actually offered suggestions on where to go! It was very helpful since my friend and I didn’t know a single thing about Portland. As soon as we arrived to the hotel, the check in process was quick. The concierge even offered us bathroom products since we forgot to bring toothpaste.
The rooms did not disappoint either. It was spacious, had full amenities and was definitely worth it for what we had paid for. I dock the place one star because their room phone wasn’t working and I had to go down stairs if I had a question, but other than that, a perfect weekend on behalf of Crowne Plaza!

Popped in during the course of a quick getaway and it was great.
Great room layout. Great décor. Great, big, cozy bed. Great city view. Great fried avocados in the bar (not-​so-​great bar prices). Great service. Great parking. And 10 out of 10 Tony Tigers agree.

Mini staycation with the hubs and baby. I must say the room was very inviting despite the fact that there was a mistake with our booking via
i.e. Not room pictured but Crowne was very accommodating. Although it created an hr wait to get the room ready we were upgraded to a king with sofa sitting area which was needed considering our daughter is now walking. I recommend this hotel. Only problem was the toiletries looked like they were used prior to our stay half empty bottles of shampoo and lotion not very attractive for this 4 ½ star hotel although it could be from the rush of getting us situated last minute which was taken care of the minute we brought it to their attention. Over all hotel was great!

Stayed here two nights the weekend of ¹¹⁄₁₄.
Check-​in with Christa was friendly, quick, and efficient. King bed room was a little small, but very clean and modern. Nice view. Temperature controls were easy and accurate. TV channels are all HD, with one HBO. Bathroom was clean and modern— great showerhead and plenty of hot water.
If you like fast food, all your favorites are within a few blocks. Otherwise a lot of restaurant variety over towards Lloyd Center. Downtown Portland (specifically the Pearl District) is a short walk over Broadway Bridge— though with temps in the upper 30s and wind gusting to 25MPH, we didn’t do a whole lot of walking.
Housekeeping was excellent. Very efficient. One minor problem with our room (TV remote batteries died), and Piotr was there to help within a few minutes.
Some might complain about the $ 18/​night to park your car, but I’ve paid as much as $ 75 in other cities. No complaint from me.
We travel to Portland several times a year, and we’d be happy to come back to Crowne Plaza again.

Used some of our airline points to stay here. Great value because of that. Although parking costed about $ 18 per night.
Check-​in was a breeze. The woman who assisted us was great. She was very helpful and friendly.
The room was just right. Bed was very comfy. Room was very clean. All the appliances and electronics worked. Bathroom was fine. Had a mini-​fridge which we always like to have during our road trips.
Had a wonderful nights sleep. Did not hear anything from the hallway or next door or on the floor above us. So either the room was well insulated from noise or I was very tired that I slept through any noises.
Based on this experience, I would stay here again. The hotel was located conveniently close to downtown Portland too.

This was one of the better values I’ve ever received in an overnight hotel stay. Although the parking lot charges $ 18 which is unusually high for a non-​covered space, and was not quite properly disclosed on hotwire or priceline ($ 15 listed rate), I found that the location was very good for getting to the Portland sights, as well as the airport red line train ($ 2.50 each way). The rooms were so clean and comfortable, that this hotel felt like my home away from home, particularly the tiled bathrooms with full sized tub.
Tip: To avoid the $ 18 fee, I was able to street park after hours. As long as you feed the meter by 8 AM, you can stay on the street in front of the hotel until as late as 10AM for mere pocket change.
I liked the vistas offered by this hotel’s upper floor windows looking over the city skyline not far away. The pool and hot tub were better than adequate.

Beautiful hotel. I don’t get why you have to pay for parking when you’re already paying for the room.
This hotel advertises a free shuttle, but they weren’t willing to pick us up at the club we were at. We were asked to walk blocks down in order to get a ride. How stupid! I won’t stay at this hotel again.

From the moment I got to Portland to my last day there, everything was perfect. The location is great. Within walking distance from Moda Center, Convention Center, bus and streetcar stops and MAX. They have a shuttle from/​to the airport. I also utilized the shuttle once everyday to get to certain places (within 5 miles from the hotel). Cool lobby music: piano version of songs by Nirvana, Coldplay, etc. They have a nice gym, heated pool and jacuzzi. There’s a bar, restaurant and a gift shop.
The room is spacious and clean. The bed was a bit firm but comfy. Flat-​screen TV with cable channels. There’s a Keurig in the room with about 6 different types of coffee and tea. There’s a safe and fridge. Toiletries are good. Shampoo and conditioner feel and smell minty and tingly. The soap is lemon-​scented.
The staff was amazing. The front desk agents were always very helpful, attentive and nice. I asked to be taken to a room with a view of Moda Center since I was staying there for a basketball game and I’m a huge NBA fan. Everything I asked for, they provided.
I originally booked a different hotel and I’m glad I switched and chose to stay here instead. It was more money per night but it was definitely worth it. I had an amazing stay and I have nothing to complain about at all.
