3 stars because these are some good, old fashioned, no fancy stuff donuts which proves itself to be a challenge in Portland these days. BUT… let’s all be honest, What type of donut shop is closed on a Sunday morning? You’re not a real donut shop if you are closed on a Sunday morning. Not into it Coco, not into it. You can do better Coco. Do better. Be better.

My husband and I LOVE the donuts here… the lavender is perfection! The buttermilk is a close second. 4⁄5 because the coffee is not my fave, and I wish they had more comfy seating options.

Such a better deal than blue star! 6 $ for 10 donuts was our deal at the time and the donuts are super good, especially the baked old fashioned sand the lavender ones. LOVEDALLISON she was so cute and charming and helpful. She deserves a raise. She is a credit to Coco!

Wow! I wanted to celebrate surviving my visit to Social Security, and give myself a belated piece of cake(sort of) for my birthday this week… so there was Coco Donuts, there was me, and it was like What the Hey… went inside, there were maybe a dozen varieties to choose from. I asked the gal about the various donuts(I don’t do donuts more than once a year or less…), I went for a glazed old fashioned… she said that it was citrusy… so that sounded appealing… a chocolate old fashioned and a glazed coconut. All three were fabOrama! Every flipping bite of donut was moist, sweet, and 100% scrumptious perfection. It doesn’t get better than this. These donuts are light years better than You-Do Know Who… skip the hype, and bite into the wholly fantastic that is Coco Donuts. BESTBESTBEST!!! And even more glaze on top: inexpensive, and super friendly service.

One of the best donuts I’ve ever had. Rivals the quality of Blue Star for half the price. Not quite as wacky and adventurous as Blue Star or Voodoo, but the donut itself more than made up for the lack of unique dressing. I had the chocolate glazed with shredded coconut topping. The outside was crisp, the inside was soft and just sweet enough, a perfectly cooked donut. It was cheap too! Just a bit over a dollar for one donut. I also had an iced coffee, and while it wasn’t the best I’ve had, I can’t be too hard on them for it, it was just iced coffee like you’d get anywhere, but it didn’t bring ruin my experience or anything. All in all, I left pretty impressed! I will definitely return.

I’ve been interested in trying these donuts for years, but they wee always closed when I happened to be downtown or near one. But alas, I was finally chosen to taste one of these elusive treats one blissful afternoon! The Safeway by my house use to have delicious donuts cooked to perfection for a small price, then a new baker took over and it all went downhill. I’m big on the textures of my sweets, and I especially don’t like burnt bottoms on my donuts. The whole donut should be soft and fluffy, which was exactly what these were. They were so light, yet so fulfilling! Voodoo Donuts is frequently hailed as the king of donuts out here, but all the wacky ingredient combos in the world could never make up for quality donuts. Donuts that aren’t too sweet, improperly cooked, or stale. To top it off, they were rather cheaply priced($ 1-$ 2), which I did not expect. Will be hopefully coming back for more!

I think I may have found my new favorite donut place in Portland. I came in on Monday, around 10ish and there weren’t many people in the shop. It being closer to when most folks were actually at work, I didn’t pay much mind. I admired the selection and felt myself give a little gasp at how low the prices were in comparison to some other donut facilities in the PDX area. I ended up ordering the raspberry jam filled, chocolate custard filled, and crunchy(which is just a donut dusted in crunches), and a drip coffee. I wanted something less sweet aka bitter to offset the sweetness of the mass donuts. The lady got a simple chocolate covered buttermilk donut and a latte. We are very different when it comes to sweets, I like to think we balance each other out. Onwards to the donuts. The donuts were all pillowy in texture and had a nice bite to them. They weren’t over, under, too hard, etc. literally perfection. I haven’t had a donut this good since I lived in Austin(here’s to you Shipley). I loved the raspberry filled the most. The custard donut wasn’t bad, the custard had a nice consistency but I didn’t like the frosting too much(Chucks in Renton has my heart for custard donuts), the crunchy one wasn’t bad either, it was definitely the most tame(in sweetness). I didn’t try the buttermilk but was told it was good. The lady really enjoyed her latte as well. All in all, I had some stellar donuts and received some great customer service in the process. And yes, if you were wondering, I did eat all 3 by myself while sitting in the shop(waiting out the rain). I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Tried the small original glazed donut. Perfect density. Dissolves great in the mouth. Really respectable dough to glaze ratio. Just do it fam this spot is lit.

There’s just something about a donut shop being closed on a Sunday that grinds my gears. Sure there are plenty of valid reasons for this, but it just seems strange to me. Good luck, Coco.

The donuts here are delicious and the staff has always been incredibly friendly. The donuts are of course not as cheap as a grocery store, but they are much more satisfying and high quality. The donuts are cheaper than some of the other donut chains in Portland. My major complaint is that they are not open on Sunday! That is the best day to drink coffee and eat donuts.

This is a pretty basic coffee and donut shop which is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I wasn’t looking for anything psycho or blue or with stars. Seriously though, enough with the foofy BS in the mornings. Where’s a bomb rainbow sprinkled donut and hot tea when you need it? Oh that’s right, HERE. Not to mention, patient and friendly staff. I’m thrilled with this find. It was unexpected and totally what I wanted. This will be the go to morning donut place for me and it will be my Portland recommendation for quick, tasty, and cheap. And sprinkled. And glazed. And filled.

Solid. Just consistently amazing delicious doughnuts. Nothing fancy. Maybe a little fancy because they’re such great quality. Marissa is super nice and friendly too! If you want a delicious maple bar or an old fashioned glaze doughnut, go here. Now.

Having recently moved to Portland, I was excited to check out the donut scene. After a less than awesome experience at Blue Star(see related review), I decided to try Coco upon recommendation of a co-worker. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I arrived just after it opened at 7 am to no line and a quiet store. I went with a buttermilk donut with maple icing and OMG it was perfect! Cakey, just the right amount of sweet and delicious. Forget the fancy stuff, this is donuts as they should be!

Must arrive early for the donuts! They sell out by the time they’re closing. Their coffee is one of the best I’ve ever had in Portland. Their white chocolate mocha quad is very creamy and tasty. The donuts aren’t too sweet compared to other places.

Really great quality donuts. I had the maple old fashioned and I didn’t regret it. Really small selection, but that may have just been the time of day I went. I would definitely recommend this place!

Yesterday my family and I were a bit blue(see what I did there?) with our other Portland donut shop stop. We consulted Unilocal to research other places to appease our donut obsession other than Voodoo. Coco Donuts came up with their 4.5 rating at their 6th Street location. Excited by the prospect of more donuts ahead, we stopped by the 6th street location after an afternoon spent at the Alder food trucks. It was less than a 10 minute walk away. Unfortunately when we arrived, around 2:30ish, all the donuts were sold out. n00b move, I guess they sell out frequently. The friendly employee was kind enough to call up the other shop on 17th to see if there were any donuts left. They were running out too and only had half a pan left, but agreed to hold their last three raised donuts for us — a chocolate bar, a chocolate donut with peanuts on top, and a glazed lavendar. Woohoo! We ended up adding a glazed cake donut topped with crumbled donut to our order when we arrived. All the donuts were fresh, even with it being close to 3 in the afternoon. The donuts were fairly priced at less than $ 2. And the employees were star quality, they took the extra time to cut up our donuts so it would be easier to share. An added plus, no long tourist line! Definitely one of my new PDX donut favorites :]

Absolutely deeeeeee-lightful! Light, tasty, a cool place to sit down and chill, free newspapers, clean bathroom, free wifi. What more do you want when you need a pick-me-up in the form of a donut?

Really really good, classic donuts. Great coffee as well. I’ve never had voodoo before but I’m sure they are over hyped. Don’t let the pink interior scare you off… chocolate sprinkles!!!

Came by this am for a half dozen for my staff. The flavor profiles of each donut is amazing on point, each donut was fresh and the lavender donut was killer. I will be back. Oh and the prices!!! So inexpensive!!!

Thanks to the stranger who pointed us to this place when she saw us standing outside a closed Blue Star Donuts. They don’t have crazy flavors but the texture of their donuts are perfect and they are not overwhelmingly sweet. I got the lavender donut and lavender hot chocolate and loved both of them! Not very perfumey at all but you can definitely taste the lavender. I also tried my boyfriend’s apple fritter and it had a crispy outside but very soft inside. Come here if you’re looking for quality and tasty classic donuts and great coffee/hot chocolate that are not overpriced.
