Hey, they know my name when I belly up, enough said. Ok, the chicken is always juicy, been countless times/ordered may different items– never been let down.

Really Good chicken breast and fires…$ 7.50… and it was a bargain… I’m definitely a fan, and I will be back… Only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is the fries are really salty… It’s a cajun shake and it’s really good, but it was just to much… ½ the salt used would be perfect…

Got the chicken and waffles with a side of bacon… Holy schnikes! that was dank! I dont really eat fried chicken but this fried chicken i could eat every day. Plus the buttermilk waffles and bacon was cooked to perfection. Great hardy/munchies meal! Elizabeth’s customer service was great! That woman can cook and deliver service with a smile. Will be back for sure!!!

Can’t believe it’s my first time here! This really hit the spot today. I ordered The Blazer sandwich, regular heat, $ 7.50. It’s delicious with crispy fried chicken breast, smoky coleslaw, house made pickles and a creamy garlic herb aioli on a toasted sesame bun. Heavenly! Too bad all these food carts will be relocated from Belmont in December.

First time there and and it was great. Cannot wait to go back and try another item on the menu. I do have to say that I was a bit disappointed(being a heat freak) that I ordered hot based on the other reviews and it did not even register to my apparently numb tongue. Guess I will have to go back and order hotter.

I was really excited to try this food cart on the Belmont«Good Food Here» pod, I freaking love chicken,(for reals ask anyone who knows me)! I decided to try their chicken salad because it came with ranch dressing which I think is just about the best combo ever. The salad was a nice size and it came with a lot of chicken, so far so good. But the chicken skin had an odd taste. I got the original since it was my first time there. It wasn’t burned but it had a mild burned taste and lacked seasoning. DANGIT! The inside of the chicken was indeed moist but still had that odd flavor/no flavor. My husband really liked his chicken sandwitch. So next time I think I will try their spicy chicken and go towards the beginning of the day when the oil is fresh.

And now for review #700… For the longest time Cackalack’s was cash only, and being that I so rarely have cash on me, I tended to skip this cart. Today I actually noticed that they take cards. Well it was about time for me to try some fried chicken from them. I have seen plenty of great reviews on this place and several by Yeeps I know. I’ve only had fried chicken at one other place in town and that was Reel Em Inn, and that place ain’t no joke. It’s tough because I lived down south and had some amazing fried chicken. Shoot, I even do a pretty decent buttermilk fried chicken when I feel up to it. The chicken here was as advertised. It was amazing. CRUNCHY dark brown outside with hot and moist chicken within. I had the three chicken strips(large size) with Texas toast($ 7.50, plus $ 1 for the extra side). I will admit that XXX hot was barely X hot, I like SPICY and although the spice was good, it wasn’t XXX hot. The Cajun fries were really tasty and spiced well and I believe the house made pickles were pretty darn good as well. The only thing that was lacking for me was the side of slaw I got. No flavor whatsoever. It lacked salt and pepper and a little sweetness that most slaws tend to have. It was blah. Oh well, can’t win em all. Overall a great food experience and now I want to try one of the sandwiches. Can’t wait till next time. Enjoy.

I had the absolutely gigantic and magnificent«Blazer Chicken Sandwich» at Clackalack’s Hot Chicken Shack in SE Portland. This is the juiciest and best tasting fried chicken breast I’ve ever had and is so big I had a hard time holding it in one hand!

This food truck is located in a super cute area. There is some outdoor seating also available. This is hands down one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve had. Ever. Must try!

I never eat fried chicken but a few months ago I had some at Wild Abandon, on Belmont. It was really good and turned me into a fan. My wife wanted some fish tacos at the Fish Box, also on Belmont. By the way that was 5 stars. I saw this fried chicken place and thought I would try it. I got a fried chicken breast and some fries. Yes… Not very healthy, but every now and then… I was asked if I wanted mild, medium, or hot. I swear I asked for mild but what I got was spicy hot hot hot. The chicken itself was cooked just right but all I could taste was paprika and cayenne. I like a meal with lots of tastes and textures. And with this it could have been any tasteless protein covered with crunchy heat. Some people may love that kind of food… but not me. Not going back.

I wanted to like this food cart so much. It’s close to my house, cheap and smells great. But my fries were RAW and overseasoned. The sandwich was messy and only just okay. I wouldn’t eat here again.

yes, yES, YES! This is the place to have a great, spicy chicken sandwich. I love controlled spicy food: when the spiciness is enjoyable, ephemeral, and tasty. I ordered the Blazer and highly recommend it. The cole slaw complemented the spiciness perfectly. The pickle and garlic herb aioli gave it another layer of flavor. The balsamic vinegar(correct me if I am wrong, but I thought I saw and tasted it) added a subtle sweetness to the chicken sandwich. And the chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. I believe Chris was working today(March 5, 2015). Thanks for making a great lunch today and giving me those napkins!

I returned to Cackalack’s after a three year hiatus & I am happy to report it was a great idea to give them another chance. The Blazer was pretty damn fantastic & well worth every bite. The chicken was tender, juicy, & smothered with all mighty goodness. The coleslaw on top actually tasted the way it should. The bun was soft like a fresh, warm croissant but it wasn’t a croissant, it was just a delicious, flaky bun. If your experience at Cackalack’s wasn’t as good the first time around then I recommend giving them another try. Maybe it was just an off day when I went but eliminating them from my food pyramid for three years was just too long.

The proprietor read my mind. I like teats. Chicken teats, that is. So, from the«heavy in saturated fats» menu, I ordered the Jalapy. One large chicken teat deep fried with generous amounts of thick, spicy breading, slathered with sauce, canoodling with the jalapenos, and swimming between two pretzel buns. Hot on both indexes. I didn’t get fries. Dammit… my heart can take so much! All this porn for«eight fitty». I swear, I heard my arteries go: BOOM Cackalacka BOOM cackalacka BOOM !!!

I had the chicken and waffles. I thought the waffle was very good. The chicken was ok, but the waffle was better. The batter did not adhere well to the chicken. Guy working there was nice. They do brine the chicken. Overall it was enjoyable and worth a try. What I need is a waffle house with a chickfila next door.

Sometimes my roommate and I have to go get tasty but fatty sandwiches and watch TV. I love fried chicken so this was totally up my alley, I decided to try the fried chicken sandwich with the mayo and pickles, I think it’s the Blazer? Their menu is pretty tough to find online, Hello Cackalack’s, you might want to try adding a full menu to your Facebook page or getting a website! It was very tasty and very large, I had half and saved the other half for another meal. I must admit I’m not the biggest Cajun food fan. It was a smidge spicy for me but I can live with it. I also decided to try an order of their fries, which are very, very spicy. They’re really too much for me! If you’re a spice wimp like me, I’d say pass on these. The person working the cart was very friendly and nice, prices seemed about average. I would be eager to try more of their menu items, preferably some that aren’t spiced.

I received the incredible joy of Cackalack’s after ordering it from Portland Delivery Dudes, although this place is commonly available in the Belmont Food Carts. The service was quick, but remember that the delivery is done by a separate company. My order was put in a well organized bag and each item was wrapped separately. Two Blazer sandwiches, a full order of Cajun fries and a small lid of coleslaw cost a low $ 20. The fries were well seasoned and the sandwich tasted great. The fried chicken was crispy and the sauce was good. It was a little too spicy, but it should be easier to specify at the cart than with delivery. The experience wasn’t the absolute best out there, but it was great to put in my mouth and the value was wonderful. Each item was very flavorful. Cakalack’s is easy to gain followings.
