This place is INSANE. I think it took a few years off of my life to have eaten here but it was worth it. I got a burger with grilled onions and teriyaki sauce and it was incredible, and my wife got a burger with grilled cheese for a bun that was so delicious and cheesy I couldn’t believe it. Burgers done right, I would definitely come back, but not too often or I will die before I reach the age of 30 from heart disease.

Super expensive burgers. But they are pretty good burgers. Love all big and original they are. I wish the place was bigger. Good service and would go again but only if someone paid for me cause that is way too expensive for me. The chocolate milkshake in my opinion wasn’t very good. Too thick and rich with chocolate.

This place has delicious and creative burgers! I wish they had one in Cali. Literally everything I tried there was great. They have this burger made out of grilled cheese sandwiches and some other burger with an egg in it. Damn!

Pretty darn good and I’m sure PRETTYBAD for you lol… but delicious. I had the YouCanHasCheeseburger… it’s a cheeseburger flanked with grilled cheese sandwiches on both sides as buns… enjoyed it very much! I’ll be back…

This place has really tasty food and I like that you have the option of customizing your burger or breakfast sandwich. Some of their burgers can get a little pricy but they are all really good and made to order. If you are super hungry, you can pay extra and have your burger buns replaced with grilled cheese sandwiches instead(a bit much). My favorite menu items are their loaded fries, especially the one that’s topped with cheddar and bacon(mmm so good). The food is on the greasy side but it’s not overwhelmingly greasy, perfect for whenever you’re craving a good solid burger. Happy hour specials are offered during the week. The dining area is quite small and they fill up fast during peak hours but they do have a few tables outside. A great local hamburger joint.

These sandwiches are insane. Stacked with layers of meats/cheeses — grilled cheeses instead of buns — just a sinful caloric bomb but worth it at least once in awhile. They also have vegetarian patties to sub in for the meat. Bring your appetite. Only drawback? Space is really small, so either you’re lucky and snag one of the two-tops or you’re better off taking food to go. Wait time was about 10 minutes for food.

Burgergastronomical. I don’t know if that is a word, but that is how I felt about my experience. This place is straight up burger world where you get it just the way you want and maybe even more than you expected. This place is small but the service is quick and lots of people are getting orders to go so don’t be discouraged if there is a bit of a line. I ordered something along the lines of a heart attack in the making. I think it was called ucanhascheeseburger, or something like that. It was a burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches basically. This was one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth! They even used legit american cheese slices. mmmmmmm. soooo goooood. I ordered a side of fries and called it good. It was. Super good. Greasy grilled cheese. The meat patty tasted like good quality beef. Fresh tomato and lettuce made is super healthy :). Yum Yum!

I am not sure how I feel about this place. It could be that I love grilled cheese sandwiches but not on my burger. The menu is diverse and interesting and can be confusing. The service is friendly and wait was probably not as long as it seemed. The burger was good. Not great and the fries(had they been hot) would have been awesome. I didn’t hate it and I almost enjoyed it so yes, would probably go back and explore their other menu items.

Being a tourist and just getting off the plane, I decided to Unilocal a good burger joint in the downtown area. I came across this place and was instantly interested in the title and I knew I needed to try it. It was mouthwatering. I was with my family and we all built our own burgers. They were cooked to perfection. My only compliant is the small seating but I noticed that in every Portland restaurant. Being from LA, we aren’t used to that. But that’s not gonna stop me from enjoying this amazing, juicy burger. Their fries were perfectly crisp too!

I tried this place because I’ve heard good things about it from family members, but overall, I have to say that they could do a better job. Overall, I paid $ 15.00(with tip) for my lunch broken down as: Build your own burger $ 6.00 Add American Cheese $.75 Add Bacon $ 1.75 Add Mushrooms $.75 Make Combo $ 3.75 Subtotal $ 13.00 Tip $ 2.00 Total $ 15.00 Although the burger was above average(if you base average on McDonald’s standard) the friendliness of staff and the service lacked. They brought me my food in a bag(not sure if they have trays or not) and by the time I got the bag opened and realized that they did not include the fries that I ordered, the guy was gone. So, I got up and tried to get his attention(he was back behind the counter) he didn’t respond to me. So, I made eye contact with the cashier and let her know that they made a mistake and forgot my fries, she nodded acknowledgement and I sat back down, but she didn’t actually do anything remedying the situation. When the same guy brought out the next order, I caught his attention as he was going buy… his response was, «I’ll get them…» no apology or anything like that… and when he brought them(in another bag) the portion was extremely small, and certainly not a value at the $ 3.75 I paid for«Make Combo» per my receipt. Anyway, there are plenty of places to eat lunch downtown and probably 50 food carts within 100 yards of their storefront… You can do better…

Brunch box is what I think of when I think of America(and yes, I’m American) — cheese, meat, bacon, TOAST. You want grilled cheese sandwiches AS the buns to your sandwich/burger — go for it! You want french toast? GOFORIT. You want bacon? Cheese? Sausage? The choices are endless. Amazing, but maybe schedule a long session at the gym later… that is if the food coma doesn’t knock you out.

Fattiest breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had, but I would eat them everyday if I could. They make you feel all warm inside. Definitely not a place to go if you’re trying to watch your caloric intake or if you don’t eat meat. All of the sandwiches looked and tasted delicious(confirmed through friends) and the line to order was pretty long at 9 – 10 am. The seating is a bit limited, but you could definitely eat the sandwiches on the go if you so desired or given the nature of the sandwich the seats open up pretty quickly. The service was also pretty awesome, my friend is lactose intolerant and they messed up her order and added cheese but remade hers right away when she brought it up and were super nice/apologetic about it.

Brunch Box? Maybe it should be called Big Bodacious Burgers oozing cheese … Box Not a place for vegetarians, dieters, or anyone adverse to comfort food. This place does big, juicy, messy, creative burgers, and only a few other menu items in its tiny 6 table location. I was in downtown Portland looking for a place within walking distance, and that does something good to bring back to the hotel. Lo and behold, Brunch Box was only a block and a half away! The temptation of a juicy burger so close was too much to pass up, so I got three(to share of course). 1. The SteakHouse — Big bold burger patty laden with steak sauce and horseradish, and topped with grilled mushrooms and onions. Messy and tasty, and you have to slurp up all the toppings that fall out. 2. The Big Kahuna — Juicy patty with cheddar, grilled pineapple, ham, and grilled onions. This was probably my favorite as the grilling of the pineapple lightly muted its sweetness and allowed it to blend well with the sauces and sharpness of the cheddar. 3. Cordon Bleu — A chicken patty wrapped in Swiss cheese, ham and grilled onions. OK, I admit it, we were trying to go «healthy» with one of the burgers and this was as close as it gets. My least favorite as the chicken was fried and dry and chewy. Although we ordered onion rings, when I got back to the hotel I had fries instead. Called BB, but just enjoyed the fries and will get the rings next time. So be warned, this is big time comfort food and if you’re want tofu and veggies, better go some place else.

If you are looking for comfort food in a sandwich, look no further because brunch box will come to your rescue! My other and I were looking for something yummy, comforting, would be done fast and was worth our money. Lone behold brunch box was nearby the hotel we were staying at. All of the sandwiches here are yum but trust me when I say the you have to…(and I mean HAVE to) get your sandwich on Texas toast. Everything taste better on that Texas toast bread. The«OMG» and«YouCanHasIt» is delicious! And being from Hawaii, I love spam! And trust me, you can’t knock the spam option until you try it. Perfect place for a casual dinner, take out, first date and hang over. Your tummy will thank you.

I can’t help but think the cart was better. I don’t know if it’s the novelty of eating a huge ass sandwich from a cart or the quality of the food went down. It’s just redunkulously huge mile high pile ups of a bunch of meat and bread and burger toppings. The flavor is not something you’d crave but if anyone has a huge appetite and want to see spam, egg, hamburger meat, ham, cheese and any other topping you can think of smashed together between 2 grilled cheese buns, then this sandwich shop would be for them. Otherwise– pass. Bonus: the chicken strips are pretty tasty!

Do yourself a favor, and get the Cheeseasaurus Rex. It’s a Texas toast grilled cheese in the shape of a dinosaur. Awesome, right? The cheeseburgers are also very delicious. The Outlaw was especially tasty, but everything listed on the menu sounded good. They also have a build-your-own option, and you just check off what you want and hand it to the cashier. The service was friendly and helpful, and the prices were very reasonable. They have an option to sub two grilled cheese sandwiches for buns. We weren’t brave enough to try it, but on our next visit we might give it a go!

Not the best food in the world, but a good comfort food style place. The grilled PB&J is an outstanding value for the price, and the burgers are good(though definitely not great). The space is a little cramped with limited seating, but it’s not too bad.

I stopped in here for lunch based on Unilocal reviews. The restaurant itself is clean and has excellent service. I ordered the Thai bacon burger. It comes with grilled pineapple & jalapeños, bacon, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions & peanut sauce. You can order the spicy level on your burger and I ordered medium. The burger was«ok». The peanut sauce was thick and not too spicy. Also, it’s quite messy so be prepared to get some sauce on your face. I think I’d go back to try another burger when I’m back in Portland

Portland’s own little Build-your-own-burger(BYOB) joint, this place was amazing! They had a plethora of different breakfast and burger choices. Although we weren’t able to try any of their breakfast choices, they looked really good, and super creative for the fact that they didn’t actually use any really unique items. Just a mishmash of eggs, cheese, bread, and meat. I personally had a BYOB burger, but I included spam, teriyaki sauce, and green onions, three choices I was honestly pretty surprised that a burger place would offer to be honest. The food was great, and we had some of their loaded fries as well, which tsated like super garlicky fries. Delicious! There’s a smart park lot nearby if you’re around the area and can’t find parking like us. I think the lot was $ 1.60/hr

I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich and took it to O’Bryant square to eat it because I felt weird sitting alone surrounded by hipster couples. Anyways the sandwich was delicious. It’s ham, cheese, an egg, and caramelized onions inside of French toast bread that somehow had maple syrup cooked into it. I think that there was one thing too many in this sandwich if that makes sense. Maybe it doesn’t need the caramelized onions or the cheese, I don’t know. There’s lot going on but it was a yummy sandwich for a great price and really friendly staff.

A step up above McDonald’s, and right below sit down restaurants with wait staff. Great quick spot where you can get the comfort food with a side of hash browns if you have a hangover. They have menus for reference, or you could make your own order as well. Cute spot, but tiny so I suggest only going with a few friends.

Caution: You are about to experience a food-gasm in public. Imagine that your favorite burger joint and your favorite brunch place joined forces to create an irresistible new any-time-of-the-day sandwich that will, they might create the Monstrosity! They must have considered how to get all the things yummy that you are craving in to a single sandwich. There should be a prize for finishing this delectable combination of two burgers between two grilled cheese sandwiches(as buns) with all the fixin’s. You can order something else on the brunch box menu, but nothing else will be brag worthy to your friends, and certainly no other selection will give you simultaneous crippling satisfaction and a nearly instant heart attack. It is worth putting your arteries at risk for the monstrosity.

If you want a healthy choice for breakfast, the Brunch Box is not for you. If you are looking for a great breakfast sandwich, I recommend this cart. I ordered a fried egg sandwich and cheese with French toast bread. It was very greasy but tasted amazing, which is often a brutal inverse relationship we must endure. We were in the area, hungry and craving burgers. Came across this place on Unilocal so came here. Initially I was skeptical that a place with«Brunch» in its name could excel at burgers, but the burgers here are bomb. Brunch box is very casual and fairly fast. You order and pay at the counter then pick up your order once it’s ready, but everything is freshly prepared. The burgers are grilled once you order, not lying around already ready and you can definitely taste the difference. Patties were super juicy and flavorful. They have a fairly extensive menu with lots of specialty burgers but I opted for the boring route and went for the regular burger but was more than happy with my choice hehe. Bf went with Trial By Fire which comes with pepperjack, grilled jalapeño, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mayo & aardvark habanero hotsauce! He doubled his patty and loved the burger! Great option for something quick and delicious when you’re not concerned about being too healthy!

Definitely liked the ambience — fast and casual with the brick wall and a wooden bench that spans the length of dining area. As far as the dining area is concerned, it is not that big. There’s about 6 two seaters and a long table with barstools that seat a couple more. On to the food — I had the Hawaiian with the Texas Toast(you have a choice of a number of different breads including bagels at the same price). Sandwiched between the bread was a thinly fried egg, cheese, pineapple and thin pieces of spam. The spam was thinly sliced and pan fried so it wasn’t overwhelming the sandwich. Every bite of the sandwich brought about the sweetness of the pineapple and the savoriness of the spam. The fried egg provided a good balance and the gooey cheese reminds me of eating a nice cheesy slice of pizza. Coffee was your usual fare and wasn’t anything to rave about. The service was nice and friendly.

Brunch Box, how I love thy. I walked in with a mission, had my sandwich all picked out but when I got to the restaurant and smelled all the yummy makings my tastebuds changed. I tried the Hawaiian Breakfast sandwich with the world’s most delicious blackberry jam on it. The jam mixed with the over easy egg and ran down my hand in a sticky goodness as my lips smacked on the saltiness of the spam tucked under the sweetness of the pineapple. My mouth was officially in the«O» zone — the OMGTHISISREALLYINMYMOUTH zone. It’s nice when I can do nice things for my tastebuds like that. Thanks for giving me a morning I won’t soon forget Brunch Box.

I was recommended coming here by a friend and aside from that I really didn’t know what to expect. When we arrived, I was a bit overwhelmed by all the options and since it was 10am, I ruled out burgers and went for the breakfast sandwiches. Ended up building my own breakfast sandwich on a plain bagel with a fried egg, grilled onions, ham, bacon and cheese. There was a slight kick to it as they used a peppery seasoning on the onions. My only disappointment is that I realized they didn’t put bacon on it even though I paid extra. Other than that, it was delicious! Very heavy though so I was stuffed and couldn’t finish the entire thing. I also ordered a side of hash brown(they’re like the McDonald’s kind, but way better) and an orange juice. Be prepared to wait for a bit, both in line to order and for your food. Luckily by the time our food was ready, a table had been vacated for us. It is a tiny place so not good for large groups. Their burgers also look very intense. Some of them have grilled cheese sandwiches as the bread! I don’t know if my stomach would be able to handle it. Overall, it was a good experience.

I did a good job with Portland breakfasts. Brunch Box did not disappoint, we came around 9AM on a Friday and the place was fairly busy but we ordered and got a table pretty quickly and before we knew it our order was ready. I ordered the black & bleu on texas toast. I wasn’t sure how I felt about blue cheese on a breakfast sandwich but it worked! And the blackened seasoning was a nice touch. Employees were super friendly when we placed our order and when we told them we were tourists they engaged us in conversation about our plans for the day etc. It’s a good thing there isn’t one of these closer to home! Definitely a good place for an indulgent treat every once in awhile!

I ordered a burger named OMG, and rightfully so. Besides the basics(¼ beef patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, ketchup, mustard & mayo), it also came topped with bacon, ham, spam and a fried egg. I made the mistake in taking the burger out of the wrapper, because as soon as I took my first bite, both top and bottom buns pretty much disintegrated — like a wet tissue against a boulder. As the ingredients started falling out and with mustard running down my fingers, I contemplated finishing with a fork. I had to put the burger down and re-strategize my approach. Watching in my struggles, Cherry made the suggestion, «Why not just wrap it back up?!» Genius! So I wrapped what was still left back in the wrapper and used it as my burger blanket. Despite the disappointing bun, everything inside was solid. The bacon was thick and crispy, the egg added a nice creamy flavor and the spam added an extra savory and salty kick that was delicious. Unfortunately, the ham got lost amongst everything else. Brunch Box definitely appeals to those who aren’t afraid to get a little messy. Despite being enormous, these burgers are tasty and well made. I didn’t realize it until I was done with my meal, but you can substitute the burger bun with texas toast at no additional charge, which may be a better option for some of the bigger and messier burgers. They also allow you to substitute your beef patty for a turkey, fried chicken or veggie patty. If the monstrosities described above frighten you, never fear, there are more modest selections to choose from too.
