Friendly service, fast turn-​around, reasonable prices — what more could you ask for? I’ve been looking for a good shoe repair in Portland as the last few places I’ve been to have either quoted high prices, been rude, or simply haven’t been able to fix what I brought to them. Shoes on the Run had the can-​do, friendly attitude I was looking for, got my job done within 2 days, and did a great job at a good price. They saved my favorite boots and earned a loyal customer in the process.

This is a quality shop and they typically have shoes ready in 1 – 2 business days. Once I just needed heels and they repaired my shoes right then and there as I waited. The work they do is also the best I’ve seen from any cobbler downtown.
Make sure you bring cash or check as they do not accept plastic. They will kindly remind you when you drop off your shoes so that helps.

Just picked up my shoes today from Shoes on the Run and although I was not thrilled with the price quoted (thought it was a bit expensive at drop-​off) after seeing the expert, detailed quality of the work they did, I’m very impressed. I can’t imagine going anywhere else when I’ve found such skilled workmanship. Also, when I was dropping off my shoes, I saw a woman had brought in her leather bag so that’s good to know. I recommend this place and will update my review if/​when I use their services in the future.

I had been needing to get my boots re-​soled and re-​heeled for years (The shoe goo can only do so much)! I stopped by on Veteran’s Day to get an estimate and dropped it off with a time to pick up THE NEXT DAY. When I came to pick it up, I arrived a couple of hours before I had told him I was coming. Thankfully, my shoes were finished and all I had to do was pay.
Service here is fast and the quality of work is AMAZING! I trust them a lot! They shined my boot and made it look brand new. I had gotten a heel build up, new heels and soles = $ 45! Tip well because they do marvelous work (I did)!

Very fast, reliable, shoe repair. If you love a pair of shoes, it may make more sense just to put new tread on them rather than buy another pair.
Quick turnaround. We tried other repair places and this is the best. Some repairs are simple and can be done while you wait. So it’s quite convenient. Not just shoes, repair leather, like a purse. This repairman is creative.

The guy is good, doesn’t seem expensive, and I was very pleased with the extra 6 months I got out of a pair of old shoes that deserved to be retired, and not repaired. Kudos.

Most things I have had done by this gentleman is to have heels shortened, and every time it’s been perfect. When you have an arthritic knee like mine, comfort is paramount. I’ve also had zippers repaired and an ancient pair of boots resoled. I get «new» shoes every time. He is reasonably priced, so friendly and always willing to work with your schedule. He’s my go-​to guy for repairs!!! And I have no problem making sure I have cash to pay for the repairs.

There are few «things» in life that I’m willing to spend a lot of money on (I prefer spending money on «experiences»), and shoes are one of them. So, imagine my despair when an expensive pair of boots that I’d owned for merely a year (so what if I wore them everyday) started buckling (see what I did there) under the wear and tear. The sole was worn to nearly nothing, the zipper was sticking and separating from the leather, and I was devastated… until I went to Shoes On the Run. Not only did they fix my heavily loved boots, they did so quickly and for only a third of what it would have cost to buy new ones. These boots were made for walking, and thanks to these folks, that’s just what they’ll do!

My favorite pair of boots had heels so (unevenly) worn that I wobbled when I walked — until I got them all fixed up at this shop! Anatoliy put completely new soles (with more traction than the old ones!) on the shoes and built up the heels, so now they are flat, smooth, and ready for several more winters pounding the pavement. My boots also came back polished and clean. I took them in on a Friday afternoon and got them back Monday. The total cost was about $ 40, which is a whole lot better than buying a new pair of boots.

Having never gone to a shoe repair shop, I was prepared to feel a little stupid. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly smile, and within 90 seconds I had a quote ($ 30 for gluing soles and replacing heels). I then asked what I should do to repair scuffing, and he said he’d throw on a little polish for me. With a 24 hour turn around time and half what I thought I’d spend. I am pleased to say this was an outstanding experience.

I don’t have comparison for a shoe repair in Portland, but they did a great job fixing a damaged zipper on some leather boots without having to replace it. They also put in new heals on some wedges that look great. I don’t know what is reasonable for pricing but I believe I paid $ 15 to fix the zipper and $ 20 for the new heels on the wedges. I think that is pretty reasonable and the turnaround was very quick (one day).

I came in to get two pairs of fluevogs polished and weather-​proofed.
Cost: $ 5 for shoes; $ 7 for boots
Time: less than 10 minutes in an out.

Anatoliy worked his magic on a pair of my favorite leather boots. They were beaten to death from a few years in college and salt damaged from 3 Minneapolis winters.
The shop is downstairs, look for the large Anatoliy window sticker on the ground level.
He added a rubber sole and heel which improved traction and now they are in much better condition sans the white salt lines. A bit of polishing and surfacing helped hide the cracks. Well worth the $ 60 to refresh them.
Bringing my other shoes back. No credit cards!

I dropped off my Fluevogs and Frye boots Tuesday and picked ‘em up today (Thursday). THEY LOOK BRAND NEW. Sturdy rubber, shoe-​shine smell, and absolutely no trace of all the nicks, dings, and scuffs I’ve inflicted on them over the past few years. He also replaced a busted zipper on one boot. It worked out to about $ 50 a pair, and I think he weatherproofed them too? Anyway, hella cheaper + better for the planet than dropping $ 300 on a new pair of boots. Dig it. (Oh yeah, like others said — bring your checkbook or cash, b/​c he doesn’t take plastic.)

Anatoli is great! I found him and his shop thanks to Unilocal,and while it took a couple of passes to find him in a car, it was definitely worth it. I’d found a real steal of a pair of much-​loved but worn out shoes for $ 5 at Value Village. They had no laces and were in definite need of being looked at. I was willing to spend up to $ 35 or so for them to be cleaned up. I showed him my shoes, and he looked at the somewhat frayed part above the ankle and said there wasn’t really anything wrong with or to be done with it, but they could be well polished and appropriate laces to be bought for $ 10. And they’d be done in 30 minutes. :) I ended up coming back a few hours later due to other errands, but the whole experience was amazing. Any shoe repair I’ll get done here. He’s knowledgeable, fast, and beyond reasonably priced. So many stars for him!
No credit cards. Just remember that and get cash prior to picking up your re-​loved shoes.

The thread in my leather shoes came undone. This upset me. So I looked up local shoe repair and Unilocal directed me to this place which happened to be really close by. I walked in five minutes before they closed to the sounds of Russian television and took off my shoe. I showed the guy my problem and asked how long it would take. He said five minutes and it would cost five dollars.
30 seconds. That’s how long I waited until my shoe was fixed. It did indeed cost five dollars but that’s a great deal and super, super, super, fast.
Also, this place is CASH/​CHECK ONLY. No worries for a five dollar thirty-​second shoe repair but a good thing to know anyway.

My fabulous suede jacket was missing a snap. You may be asking, «what does this have to do with a shoe repair review?» We’ll, I’ll tell you. I brought a packet of snaps in as he did not have a snap to fit my fabulous jacket and I waited about two minutes while he popped the snap back on the jacket. TA-​DA! Good as new.
I have also been bringing my snazzy heels and Frye boots to him for years. He is capable of bringing rundown shoes back to life. What’s more, he does it quickly and for very reasonable prices.
Be prepared to pay for this magic with either cash or one of those archaic check things people used to use in the 1980’s. No credit cards accepted.

Unfortunately one of my dogs has developed good taste in shoes… in more ways than one! She destroyed part of a zipper on an expensive pair of boots, it looked un-​fixable. The shoe repairman (cobbler?) here was great. I brought it to him around lunchtime on Wednesday and he told me it would be ready on Friday. You can definitely see that work has been done (i.e. entire zipper replaced — pretty hard/​intricate work on leather boots!) when you closely compare the two shoes next to each other, but no one would be able to tell when just wearing them.
He only takes cash or checks. He asked me for a 50% deposit on the job, and quoted me what I thought was a fair price — I would have been willing to pay double! Very happy I did not have to go searching for new boots — especially when these boots were a gift and I would not have paid that much myself to replace them.
