History

Established in 2016.

My family loves to eat out and try all international foods. Ben, my son, loves to eat teriyaki. I made my own homemade teriyaki and he loved it. We had our friends and Sweet Basil customers try it, and they all loved it! We thought, why not open our own BBQ and teriyaki place and name it after Ben?

Our chef, Nattaphon, refined his recipe from his previous place of work, a five-​star international hotel in Bangkok. That’s why we can offer a wide range of dishes, from burgers to teriyaki to Thai-​style BBQ.

Almost 2 ½ hour delivery. Was told the driver would arrive in 16 mins. Half hour later it was going to be 30 mins, 20 mins later it was going to be another 45 mins. Finally when it did arrive the food was barely warm. Fried appetizer was soggy.

I went there today. Truth be told, I was trying to go to Lilikoi, but it was 2pm and they close at 1pm. I was gonna grab something from Basil bar and then saw Ben’s Grill. I didn’t even realize it was a little cart and opened the door and almost walked into the little kitchen. Poor chef probably thought I was nuts. After I backed out and he opened his window– I ordered the teriyaki pork and then changed it to the thai pork for something different… so glad I did because it was AWESOME. The sauce has some kick, but wash it down with a Thai iced tea. The pork was tender and delicious. Perfectly grilled. I enjoyed every bite along with a chubby black cat who kept me company. She clearly knew where to find good food.

The Smithynunta family, who has delivered fresh and delicious food at Sweet Basil Thai for 15 years has opened Ben’s Grill House, a teriyaki and BBQ food cart on the corner of 31st and NE Broadway.
A large group of us headed there after school today and it didn’t disappoint! Served over rice and with their signature peanut sauce, the Chicken Teriyaki hit the spot for a late afternoon lunch.
This food cart is very kid friendly. In addition to teriyaki they have BBQ and burgers. Check it out and support our local business owners!
