Anctil Heating & Cooling

Anctil did a great job. Prompt, professional, pleasant. We had a new heater and a/​c installed by them and are very happy with their work. Highly recommend.

Had a brand new Carrier furnace installed by Anctil in 2009. Had a little bump during installation due to being promised one thing by sales (free gas line installation), then getting billed by office. They were reluctant to fixed their error, but they did and acted like it was my fault. They never apologized.
When they installed the furnace they put a little pocket on the side and all of the information regarding the transaction and equipment was put in the pocket. Now, our furnace just quit working. I pulled the paperwork, hasn’t been touched since install, and there is NO WARRANTY information. They never provided this to us. I know I should’ve looked, but I didn’t think about it until I needed it.
Today I called and left a voicemail for Jeff inquiring about the warranty on MY furnace. Jeff called me back and said that it had a 1 year labor, 5 year parts and 20 years on the heat exchanger. When I pointed out that we never received anything about a warranty he said that he’s not sure how that works during installation. Why don’t you check that and close that gab in communication? How about apologizing for it not being included? How about offering to send me my warranty information? Nope, nothing.
Jeff, then mentioned something about how different manufacturers change warranties, and they can do that whenever, but then mentioned they do it annually, etc… After this I wasn’t sure if he had looked up my specific information at install or was just speaking in generic terms. When I asked if he looked up MY furnace information he defensively said that he would not have called me without looking it up first.
I know it seems petty, but when you put out just over $ 8,500 you expect great customer service, good communication and at the very least, information regarding the warranty on your unit. According to some other reviews this seems to be a pattern with Anctil. So, when someone needs a resource for HVAC work I will certainly tell them who NOT to go to.

I have been a long time customer of Anctil Heating & Cooling. I’ve had a financial arrangement for the past couple of years for them to come twice a year — in the fall and summer, to check my furnace and air-​conditioner. When I called last week to set up an appointment, I was told that the postcards recently went out to customers with this type of arrangement, and that I could get an appointment in a month. Since I never received a post card, and should have been considered a «preferred customer» due to my long term loyalty, I was a bit frustrated that they weren’t able to fit me in for quite some time. When I mentioned that I wouldn’t take that appointment and may look somewhere else, the guy who does the scheduling was just fine with that. Very disappointing in terms of customer service!

I hate writing negative reviews, but gotta do what I gotta do. There are two faces to Anctil, the folks in the field installing equipment and making it work, and the folks supporting them and communicating with the customer (sales and billing and scheduling). The installers get 5 stars and the others get none. I think this is a company that doesn’t get it when it comes to communicating what they’re going to do and when.
The Good:
The equipment they sold me was installed competently, the installers went over what I needed to do to keep it working, and they cleaned up afterwards. 5 stars.
The Bad:
When I accepted their bid and gave the sales guy my visa number, he mistakenly charged the entire amount, resulting in thousands of dollars of unexpected charges. When I objected he cheerfully credited the overcharge, but in my eyes there was damage done that couldn’t be undone.
I asked the sales guy in an email when they would start, but my email was unanswered for a week. I finally sent a flaming follow-​up and finally they awoke and responded.
After the install I tried to claim the rebates, and 30 days later, I still am awaiting action on over $ 500 of rebates that were promised. Again a trail of unanswered emails and nebulous promises to fix things that seem to stretch out forever.
I worked in customer service many years and was never allowed to ignore customer emails and calls, we had software that tracked everything and it just wasn’t acceptable for that to happen. That is something Anctil needs to work on, and if I had to do it all over again I would look elsewhere. It’s just too much time and effort to get things done, even though I’m happy with the install.

Wonderful service, took the time to explain everything to us during the service appointment. Found the most reasonable and affordable solution and fixed our heater on the same day.

Had a couple of Anctil guys out here today to replace a length of duct and boot running through my crawlspace and they did a great job. Very thorough, helpful, and tidy. The job not a fun one, but they handled it very professionally.
I’d have given Anctil 5 stars, but getting the work scheduled took persistence and two weeks of follow ups, only to schedule the work two weeks after we finally connected. There is huge demand for good service teams in Portland right now, and I wish every company could commit to a consistent timeframe for responses.
I would recommend giving Anctil a call if you aren’t in a hurry to have the work done, but want the job done right. The two installers that came out went above and beyond.

I recently had the ductless Mitsubishi Electric Split-​Type air conditioner installed in my house, with wall-​mounted units installed in three rooms.
Eric provided very good explanations of this system vs other options when he came to the house to provide an estimate. The entire installation was then completed in one day, by employees who were very courteous and efficient in their work.
I am very pleased with the system and am also impressed with the quality of the work performed by Anctil. I recommend them highly.

Moved into a tall skinny house recently and decided that we’ll really need AC when the summer hits. Decided on the Mitsubishi ductless AC as the most energy efficient, quiet, and effective route. Got three bids and decided to go with Anctil.
First off, the guy who came out and did the bid for us was very well informed, had great ideas around locating units, and did a good job of outlining our options. Nice guy and a pleasure to deal with. The price was good, and they found some rebates for us that made it even more affordable.
Two days after we signed and made a down payment, the installers were at our door at 7:30 AM as scheduled. Really nice guy, very low key, listened to what I wanted the install to look like. Then my wife and I went off to work. She got home at 4:30, and they were completely done. Not only done, but you would not know that anyone had been there, they cleaned up so completely. The install looks great, looks like it is part of the house rather than an add-​on.
Really happy both with the Mistubishi gear and with Anctil. A pleasure to work with, highly recommended!
UPDATE: we had a service issue last night, called Anctil at 9 AM this morning, we had a serviceman in the house by 10:15 AM, and he was done before noon. Amazing service, and another really nice guy who explained what he did and went over the system operation with me.

We had them out to work on a couple of unrelated issues, one of which was installing a new thermostat that they suggested. They installed it, but it was not working when they left, telling us we had to call the thermostat company to complete the setup. We thought that sounded weird and when we started tinkering with it ourselves, realized it had been wired incorrectly. After following the instructions, we had it re-​wired and actually working in a few minutes.
When the invoice arrived and «Thermostat installation» was included in the list of work performed, we attempted to contact them about a clarification and perhaps a slight modification of charges. Phone messages went unanswered. Email was ignored. We paid the bill just to be done with it.
The two stars are for the one thing that they did right, and the time they repaired some duct work when we first bought the house. The work was well done and they were pleasant enough to deal with, but the total lack of communication has us shopping for a new furnace guy.

We had Antil install equipment ventilation through the roof of our building a year and a half a go. The other day it started leaking after a big rain and was dripping heavily on the motor of our equipment. They were prompt in responding to the repair which was great. They also checked the sealing of the other venting they did for our other piece of equipment installed 8 months ago and found a leak there as well. Then the other day I get a bill for $ 300 to repair their own shawdy work. I called to figure out why I am getting a bill and the guy says they have a «1 year warranty on the labor» in otherwords they don’t stand behind their work. We had this kind of work done by someone else at our previous location with no leaking issues for the entire 4 years we were there. It would seem that Anctil does not expect their work to last, and (apparently) with good reason. We will be using another contractor in the future.

These guys could have taken advantage of us if they wanted to. Eric came out to look at our unit. Ultimately it was decided that there was likely a leak in our system somewhere but not sure where. Depending on where it was, the cost could have ranged from bad to horrible. When Dave the service came out to run the tests, he noticed that one of the valves was faulty. So instead of saying «sir, you need a new ac unit», he said «sir, you just need a new valve». So instead of getting thousands out of us, it was only $ 330. Love the honesty and customer service. On top of that, they were a few minutes early for the appointment. Complete professionals and prompt follow up. I will definitely be calling Anctil from now on.
