I was timid about having color added to my hair but Dosia came up with great ideas and examples of how to color my fine wavy hair and she did a fabulous job. She has given me beautiful pixie cuts when I was trying to be bold. I highly recommend Dosia, she’s very talented! She has a eye for beauty and style! She’s as creative as you want her to be. She’s an empowering woman with a wonderful heart!

I had a great experience at A-​List Salon. Andrew is amazing! I came in with all natural hair looking for change. I had expressed that I needed to step up my hair game, but also to keep the integrity of my hair. His balyage technique was beautifully placed that added great dimension. He also finished with a wonderful hair blowout that lasted for days! My hair looks and feels amazing! Thank you Andrew!

Got my hair done with Piper on Saturday (three days ago) and have washed my hair twice since. So much of the color has already faded out that I can find no way of justifying all of the money that I just spent on my hair, especially since I will need to get it done again very shortly. Not only that but there was still so much color coming out of my hair after the second shampoo (third of you count the wash at the salon) that it bled on to one of my favorite shirts and ruined it :/​
While the salon itself is pleasant enough and at a convenient location for me in the Pearl, I can’t give more than two stars because of the service itself. I have never experienced a problem like this at a different salon.

I stumbled into this salon on a rainy day needing a pick me up. I was greeted by the owner, given a glass of wine, and was treated like a princess. I was lucky enough to be paired with Lorraine, who knew exactly what to do with my naturally curly hair. She took her time and listened to my questions and concerns. She even taught me a trick or two while I was in her chair. I went back a few days later for a color and she was, again, amazing! I highly recommend the salon and Lorraine!!!

I super recommend Dosia for either hair cut or hair dying! She is super nice and professional that she knows what exactly hairstyle looks good on me. Also, she will listen my requirements carefully so I always feel satisfied with the result. I did the hair color twice a month, but my hair doesn’t get hurt at all cuz she really cares about the quality of the product and she will make sure anything that she use is good for my hair. Definitely recommend her to my friends as well! She is amazing!

This has been the best hair experience by far! Dosia, listened to what I wanted and she delivered. Before my hair appointment my hair was a really warm blond looked more yellow than I ever wanted, but I thought it was normal because that is how my blond hair would always look no matter what stylist I would go to. But not this time. She explained to me the difference between balayage, ombré, and flamboyage. Which finally made sense.
We did a balayage on my hair, toned it down and now I cant stop checking my hair out because it’s as close to perfect as it will ever get. It looks fantastic. After the hair appointment I was walking to my car and this girl stopped to ask me where I get my hair done. Ooh I love it. I highly recommend Dosia for anyone who is blond or thinking of going blond, she knows her stuff! Thank You!!!

Michelle worked magic on my hair! Every time I see her I am impressed but I wanted a change today and she made it happen! She understands what I want and always exceeds my expectations! Can’t wait for what she does next!

I’m so pleased with the service and haircut I received at A-​List. The salon itself is bright, airy, clean and modern. It was a lovely place to spend a few hours and the location couldn’t be better right above Barista.
Kelsey was able to squeeze me in at the last minute on a Saturday and she absolutely nailed it with my hair. I wasn’t the easiest client, as I had long, very very thick hair and wanted it all cut off on the fly. Kelsey cut around 8 inches and I love what she did having just met me and my throwing this hefty job at her.
All in all, I had a wonderful experience at A-​List; I would highly recommend the salon, services and reasonable prices.

Bryce is a color genius– natural colors or neons. I go to see him 100% confident that the look will be better than I even imagined. He’s also easy to be around during marathon hair sessions!

I will be the first to admit that I hate going in for haircuts. just something about that makes the whole process daunting and a pain.
this is where I’m thankful for Bryce. I’ve been following him from salon to salon and the fact that he’s ended up somewhere great like a-​list, makes this whole process of getting a haircut more tolerable.
the man is a wizard with shears! come in looking like a mongoose died on your head while spooning a cactus, leave looking like you are on your way to your best friend’s wedding knowing your hot single crush that likes you back will be there as well.
call ahead, ask for Bryce. if I can commit to not waiting another entire year before my next haircut, you can call up the hair wizard. plus there’s so much awesome art to stare at on the walls, even a spaz like me can stay still long enough for an amazing haircut.

Bryce Patrick Eschete has been styling my hair (and came up with) my signature cut 2+ years ago. I can not let another pair of shears nor razor touch my bitchin’ locks. Bryce is wonderful! Pretty much the scariest thing in the world to me is trying to find a new stylist that will razor cut my cowlicky, fickle, stick-​straight hair. My recent transition to seeing Bryce at A-​List couldn’t have been smoother. Scheduling online was a breeze and once in the studio, I felt like royalty. From the soothing scalp massage during my shampoo, to the way Bryce was able to take what I did and didn’t like about previous cuts/​stylists and ask questions to make my very first cut with him a-​mazing, the whole experience was brilliant. Bryce is a consummate professional and it shows in the attention to detail he gives to his clients.

I saw the great reviews for Edward King so I bought the Groupon. Two months and four voicemails later… still nothing. I wasn’t asking for much — I’m off work early each day, and am now on winter break, so I was willing to be very flexible, just needed the partial highlight and a trim… not even a full cut. Nothing…
He has overcommitted himself via Groupon. I had Groupon issue me a credit.
Extremely disappointed!

I am disappointed with the lack of professionalism in my communication with Edward King. I bought the Groupon, like many others, for his service. Scheduled the apt 3+ weeks in advance for the evening of Dec 23^rd. Called him and the salon myself earlier that afternoon to confirm, and then received a text message from Eddie at 3 pm saying his travel plans overlapped with our scheduled time… Two hours before the scheduled apt. I understand we’re all busy during this time of year, but as you can imagine, I was hoping to get my hair done for the holidays; a mere 2 hour notice doesn’t suffice for the time and money lost in taking the afternoon off in anticipation of making it to the appointment.
The lack of follow-​through oh his end left me feeling completely dismissed as a potential customer. I never did receive a call back from him, all that was communicated to me was through text messages. I would expect that the stylist would reciprocate the salon’s «24 hour cancellation policy» it requires from its customers, not a 2 hour notice before the holiday rush.

So I purchased a Groupon to have partial high-​light and cut by Edward King. I feared long wait time as the coupon deal tend to book appointments month to two ahead, but I had no trouble scheduling one this month. I’ve had numerous less than desirable outcome (waist length hair chopped to shoulder w/​o permission, hair color appt. lasting five hours with no visible result, perm with no curls, etc) with salon’s, and I was wary of even going to a salon. I also have condition called trichotillomania so I can be pretty bashful explaining my situation.
Edward greeted me with warm reassuring smile and listened intently as I explained my past and what I had been hoping to attain, as well as my trich condition. From start to finish he made me feel beautiful and at ease. He chose a reserved mahogany for my highlight which came out just right, and gave the definition I’ve been wanting without going overboard with red color. He even styled my hair so my curls cascaded down naturally and cut just enough to layer hair on my face without it being annoying or in the way. I literally have nothing to complain about — that’s a first!
He was very professional and personal at a same time, and I haven’t met anyone with such presence even in the last couple of salon’s I’ve visited. He was also very knowledgeable of all products he used, as well as ones being sold at the salon. He was very patient answering so many of my questions as well. I definitely would recommend Edward to all my friends!

I went in twice to see Dosia to do a dramatic color change. She really listened to me in what I want in terms of what look I wanted to achieve at the end of the visit. She listened and transformed my faded at home box dye job into a beautiful dark red-​purple ombré. That exceeded my expectations in how rich and beautiful my hair looked after the visit.
I like how she really listens to your input and gives you realistic expectations of how it’ll actually looks in terms of the color/​type of hair you have. She can be really creative if you let her or she’ll do what you requested if you have a specific style in mind already. She does a wonderful job in hair design and catering to the customers needs. A plus is she is wonderful to chat with and always optimistic make is a fun and relaxing experience.
She is very knowledgeable in hair care and won’t push product at you. She offers good suggestions on maintaining hair color and what styling products/​techniques to use. Overall I would return to Dosia again for my hair coloring needs.

I’ve been in three times with Andrea, the owner as well, as my stylist and have been extremely happy. I’m a darker blonde who likes natural looking highlights, shoulder length hair cuts, and appreciate the way a good salon visit and it’s results can lift your self esteem.
Moving and finding a new hairstylist can and has been painful. Only ladies understand what I mean, truly it’s not just hair! Thanks to Andrea I feel more pulled together and beautiful these past few months.

Ja’Nien Sisk has been doing my hair for years. Before her I was frustrated b/​c I couldn’t find someone like I had when I lived in San Diego. After my first few haircuts Ja’Nien talked me into a new style.
I nervously said yes, and I’m so glad I did. Now I get stopped all the time with people telling me I have a cute cut or asking who cuts my hair. I’m happy she’s my stylist.

I was in dire need of a haircut after the disaster that was my last «trim» last May. I scoured Unilocal in hopes of being introduced to someone great. I’ve never had my hair cut in Portland, normally I wait until I’m home in San Jose. However, I was annoyed with the shape of my hair as it had grown out and wanted to do a big color change.
I purchased a Groupon for A List with Edward King that included a haircut, full highlights, conditioning, and styling. I called on a Monday and was able to snag an appointment for Thursday that same week.
Unfortunately, it was a rough day. I’d had a difficult morning, almost hit a pedestrian downtown, and struggled to find parking. I had some trouble finding the salon as well, but with help located it. You go into the door to the right of the Yoga shop and up to the third floor.
I raced inside right at as my appointment time began and was greeted by Eddie himself. Eddie was warm and friendly and the salon was neat and beautifully decorated. Eddie listened to me describe my vague and confusing vision patiently and made sure we were on the same page. The entire experience was fantastic! Though it was the end of the day, he didn’t rush and made sure I was aware of what he was doing. I’ve never colored my hair before, so this helped assuage my fears greatly. If that wasn’t enough, it was really fascinating to watch him cut and style. His technique is fun to watch and left me with a beautiful blowout.
Honestly, my hair has never looked better. Eddie fixed my layers so they lay perfectly and my highlights are subtle, but add a lot of much needed dimension. I was concerned that coloring my hair would deplete it of moisture, but my hair is healthy and soft. The entire process took about 2 hours total.
Eddie is a miracle worker so I’ll definitely be returning. I walked out feeling fabulous and can’t stop touching my hair! Thank you so much, A List!

My stylist here was sweet. The salon is welcoming and the price was great. Unfortunately, I got one of the worst haircuts ever here.
I wasn’t aware just how bad it was until I was home later and noticed it was cut unevenly (I mean, lop-​sided). The worst part was, she spent way too much time trying to do something edgy and cool to my fringe — 50% of my haircut was spent in a spot that was the size of an eyeball while the rest of my hair was neglected.
In her defense, I didn’t really provide feedback that I wasn’t digging it. I was trying to keep an open mind and see how it turned out. Luckily for me, I have curly hair so it’s pretty forgiving and easy to fix or hide a bad cut.
I would absolutely not write off the salon for this one cut, though, as I think it seemed like a good business. I simply would rather go to a different stylist. Sorry, not sharing her name in this review — I believe people have off days or perhaps she could do a great job with your hair, just not mine that one time.
