Expensive, but they know what they’re doing and this type of service is never cheap.
If you are OK with not getting your data in 24 hours, they lower the price for you. I received my data in about a week.

This people know that they are doing they recovered 100 percent of my data. I am a physician who owns a surgical center in Florida. My server crashed and I lost 90 percent of my data. We went to 24 Hour Data for recovery to our NAS drives from a ransomware virus attack. They were able to recover most of our files. We did have some service issues, and I would have rated them lower, but this can happen to any company, and since Sean was reasonable and professional in resolving the issue, I’m giving them 5 stars.

Two drives crashed at once on our raid 10 and would not come back online. 24 Hour Data recovered most, if not all of our files at a reasonable price.

One of my external hard drives «fried», and a good friend recommended 24 Hour Data. Like many others here, I had not backed up this now-​damaged-​beyond-​repair drive. I mean, I had put the data on this external hard drive and not left it on my C drive because I thought that was the ‘safe’ thing to do. Uh, no. Anyway, after all efforts to find a local (NYS) company to help me failed, I contacted 24 Hour Data as well as two other companies. 24 Hour Data was very professional right from the start. They knew their «stuff», told me that they could probably recover all my data (which included all my music, and personal and business files that I really needed) and sent a FedEx label for me to send them my badly damaged hard drive for evaluation. I was also told that recovery, if successful, would cost around $ 800, maybe less. When they received the drive, they contacted me and quoted $ 1,500 which I simply did not have. I was crestfallen. However, after several months went by and my financial situation did not change, the owner of 24 Hour Data, Sean Wade, did work with me on the price and payment and I have to say that they get kudos for customer service. Because he was so helpful in the end, I have in my possession data that is imperative to my rekindling my villa rental business … plus 15 years of music that was REALLY important to me! I recommend them highly. And BACK UP YOUR DATA! :-)

I had done a hard reset on my iPhone and then it wouldn’t turn on, power button was broken. I took the phone in next day to the Apple Store and they tried to fix it but said they could not. They offered an exchange in warranty, but I asked what would happen to my photos. They said it would be on there if photo stream was on, well we were about to transfer but they still were not on there. She didn’t react much to this at all and she said we could exchange the phones then, but if I did then I wouldn’t be able to come back and get my phone. I felt pressured and asked for time to think. During this time I called 24 hour Data and got Jennifer on the line. She was incredibly patient and helpful, asking me very good intelligent questions about my predicament. At first I was calling from the new phone and could not hear her well and she showed no irritation. I called back from another phone and she gave me an estimate of how much data recovery would cost with the company, about 800‑1300. She also gave me some advice on my situation. One of the things she said is to get a breather and take my time.
Well, thanks to her I decided to have hope and called my boyfriend who is in IT. I decided to take the old phone to him at his work. All he did was another hard reset and I was able to get it on long enough to recover data. Power button was still broken so I still got an exchange later that night. Long day but it all worked out. Thanks so much for helping me, I was able to hold onto precious photos.

Our company had encountered a serious issue with one of our executive laptops and 24 Hour Data was recommended to us. The entire experience was pleasant even from the initial phone call just for an estimate. 24 Hour Data was helpful, polite and kept us updated through the entire process as to where our Data stood in the recovery process right up through delivery. Awesome work! Was an absolute pleasure working with them and would be very happy to recommend and continue working with in the future.

Well, let me start by saying that I STILL don’t have my drive back so I don’t know if they’re even going to recover the data, but this is about the customer service.
When I first got a quote from them, they said $ 500 – 800 and 24 – 48 hours to recover the data and send it back. I thought that was great and much better than other quotes I had been hearing. So, I shipped it off that day and waited for the analysis. They got back to me promptly and told me it was harder to get than they first thought. So, the quote went up to $ 1200 and 3 – 4 days. Still not too bad.
It was at this point that I told my clients they could expect their files five days from now. Well, five days has gone by so I call the company to see what’s happening with the drive because I still haven’t heard anything from them. They inform me that they have just now ordered a replacement drive and are waiting for it to arrive. It will be another 1 – 2 days. Now, not only do I not have my files, but I also have lost credibility with my clients.
I would NEVER recommend this service to anyone. If they had just told me the truth in the first place or at least kept me informed, I could have sent my backup drive (which also failed) off for data recovery and had it back in time to give to my clients. They should be paying me for lost business instead of me shelling out what I’m sure will be much more than $ 1200.
Also, I should mention that these «offices» they claim on their website in big cities don’t seem to me to actually exist. I saw they had a location just a few blocks from me so when I initially spoke to representative I asked if it would be worked on there. He said, «No, that’s just a drop off location.» And I said, «Great. Then I can drop it off there.» He quickly covered his tracks and said, «I actually think we’re closing that location. You’ll just have to send it here.»
Wow.
UPDATE: Another five days have gone by. Still nothing.
2^nd UPDATE: I finally had to call to get any information on the drive besides what ‘stage’ it’s in, which means nothing to me. Again, they told me another few days and offered to send it back if I couldn’t wait. I told them if it would just be a few days, then I could wait and for them to keep working on it.
So I waited another few days. After hearing nothing back, I called again and they said the problem would take even longer. When I asked how long and they said at least a few weeks, if at all.
It was at this point I told them to just send it back. I was completely exhausted from dealing with them. This company desperately needs new management.
In response to Sean’s comment below: Most of that that information is false. My client is not unhappy with lost wedding photos, as she got photos from every part of her wedding day. In fact, we even gave her double the photos that were promised to her. She is simply angry because of the unfulfilled promises that we relayed to her straight from 24 Hour Data. We would not have had a problem if the company had just been honest with me to begin with that they didn’t have a solution.
You need to treat customers with respect, tell them the truth, and actually listen to what they are telling you. Please don’t tell people on Unilocal that you offered to work on my drive for free. Reading this comment is the first I’ve ever heard about it.

ANOTER UPDATE: The company has been sending me tons of emails saying they have done nothing wrong, as if lying to your client constitutes ‘nothing’. Now he’s threatening to bring me to court over this review. Well, good luck. I know my first amendment rights and I am not afraid to exercise them. Please be advised if you still want to use this company.

I went to 24 Hour Data after the MicroSD memory card in my phone corrupted. Unfortunately I had not backed up any of my pictures or videos (which included wedding, honeymoon, and vacation photos… bpffftttt…). I used the online chat to request a quote and the next morning I had an email with the estimated price range for the recovery. All things considered, I knew I would never be able to replace those pictures and memories so I went ahead with the recovery.
Within a matter of hours after dropping off my memory card I already received an email and a call letting me know they would be able to recover the data and the cost was within the estimate. The files were ready for pick up in just about two business days.
Great service, friendly, fast, and professional! I would highly recommend them for any data recovery needs!

Recently I had a 2TB VMFS formatted drive start to fail. Its failure state was fairly unique in that it would mount but a few directories had read issues.
I spoke with 6 or 7 recovery firms but only 24 Hour Data put me directly in touch with the actual engineer who would be performing the recovery (Dallas, you are awesome!) who immediately understood what I was trying to do and the time pressure I was under.
Layered on top of this amazing personal customer service is the high technical competence. My hard drive failure was really difficult and, in the words of the engineer:
«Never in my 16 years of doing data recovery have I ever seen 30 bad sectors cause so much damage to a file system.»
And he still recovered 100% data from a base image (no clean-​room required)!
Having done recovery a few times I can say that 24 Hour Data does some things differently that in my mind make them my vendor going forward.
1) They were able to mount the VMDK, retrieve some key files and upload them to my FTP site post-​recovery. This was hugely important, it meant my most important data (within certain size limitations) was available within an hour post recovery!!! My actual replacement drive followed 24 hours later but if you are doing data recovery you know how important 24 hours is! No other vendor was willing to go the extra mile and help me out this way.
2) I paid for expedited service. While a 2x cost it meant that they basically worked 24 hours a day until it was done. My recovery engineer and I spoke regularly, even at 10PM his time.
3) They really take time to understand what they are looking at before they go in and work on it. We spoke at length about the data, its importance, directories and history. VMFS is complex and all of this context helped them get my a 100% data recovery.
These guys are great and my go to vendor for emergencies now. Tx Dallas @ Team and 24 Hour Data!
