An hour long trip to one of Pittsburgh’s beautiful parks for a long walk or off leash time. Ideal for dogs who need more exercise than a regular walk would provide.

A half-​hour walk around Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods.

Pit Stop

A fifteen minute break to stretch your dog’s legs.

Overnights

We offer two types of overnight services. Your dog can come stay in one of our homes or we can stay at your home. Price includes all meals, medications, walks, and lots of love!

History

Established in 2013.

The Crate Escape Pgh is a locally owned and operated business. The owners of the crate escape have five years experience in pet care. We are insured and certified in Pet First Aid and CPR. We are members of NAPPS (National Association of Professional Pet Sitters) And Pet Sitters Associates.

To say that pet care was our passion would be an understatement. We love being around and caring for animals. We are dedicated to your pup’s health and happiness and believe in the benefits of daily exercise for dogs. We also believe in the importance of peace of mind: safety is always our first priority.

You can relax knowing that we are there to care for your beloved pets when you can’t.

I have loved animals from the very start. We always had different pets in our home growing up. Now I have two perfect Bernese Mountain Dogs. These two were the inspiration for a career in dog walking. Before TCE I was spending my days in a cubicle wishing I was at the park with my dogs. Not being able to give Kodi and Panda the attention and exercise they needed broke my heart. Now I have the chance to give them and lots of other dogs the love and attention they deserve. Life is pretty wonderful!

I’ve always had dog walkers everywhere I’ve moved, including Philly and NYC. Walkers in those cities set the bar pretty high, and I chose The Crate Escape due to the positive Unilocal reviews. Even though the walkers do not text me with details of the daily walk or pictures (I was spoiled from NYC!), I realized that the walkers themselves were pretty dedicated.
I still elected to give the 5 stars because of the attention that was given to my dog– he has some fear aggression issues, and one of my wishes is for him to get more sociable again with other dogs. I found out that he was being walked with another friendlier dog, and I really appreciate them trying to help out and improve my dog’s behavior. I also love their online reservation system, and though my schedule can get a little crazy sometimes, they are able to accommodate me. My wish is that someday he can handle meeting more dogs predictably, and The Crate Escape is clearly doing their part to help as well.

I recently moved to Pittsburgh and have to travel a lot for my job. I had found another dog sitter and after 1 stay my dog got sick and I had to take him to the emergency vet. Days later I saw a flyer for the crate escape and scheduled a meeting immediately. They came and met Max and I had an immediate feeling of relief. Max has health problems and is fed a special diet. Sara and Meghan took great notes and didn’t seem to mind the additional hassle. Fast forward to now, Max has stayed with Sara twice and is happy and healthy when I return. The updates and pictures really put my mind at easy while I am away. Also, they are so good at communication prior to and during my trip that I never have to worry. I highly recommend them. Oh and the online scheduling is so so nice. If I have a long day planned I can just schedule an afternoon potty break and don’t have to worry. I also feel the autopay makes life even easier. I will continue to use the crate escape and suggestion you do too!

These ladies are so amazing! I can always rely on them to take my overly energetic dog for a great walk so that she comes back much more relaxed. They are flexible and always willing to work with me as I have a rather different schedule. Not to mention, my pup loooooves them! They’ve really helped me train her, a newly rescued dog, to listen and walk better on leash. I cannot recommend these cool, dog savvy chicks enough!

The folks at Crate Escape are life-​savers! Unlike other services that I have used in the past, the folks at the Crate Escape are incredibly flexible and willing to work with your needs, even if they are last minute. Meg always works hard to fit my dog into her schedule, even if it is a same-​day request.

I’ve never used a dog walking service before, and I can’t believe how lucky I was to have The Crate Escape Pgh recommended to me. Meg and Sara are amazing with my 4 year old pit bull mix. CJ can be shy and nervous, but she has improved tremendously since walking with Meg and Sara. They have been able to walk her with other dogs, which i thought was an impossibility. Sara and Meg are truly professionals who care about their clients. They were responsive to my questions and requests, and I felt that they really cared for my dog. It was a tremendous relief knowing that CJ was being walked by people who were prompt, responsible and caring. My girlfriend and I have noticed a significant improvement in Cj’s behavior on walks since she started walking with The Crate Escape Pgh.
I can’t recommend them highly enough!

We met Meghan and Sara at an event at our local pet store, and we feel very fortunate to have done so! They recently started their own business and Pittsburgh pet owners are in for a treat.
We’ve tried many walkers and sitters in the area and no one matches the level of professionalism and service we’ve seen with The Crate Escape! They get back to you almost immediately when you submit a request and they do what’s most convenient for you.
Our puppy Gus has a TON of energy, but after a day with Meghan and Sara he is totally pooped and so happy. He gets great socialization at the play groups, and we recently boarded him at Meghan’s house where he became fast friends with her two dogs.
We are Type A dog parents for sure, and some sitters shrug you off as over-​reacting or asking for too much to get a text update every once in a while. I never felt this way with The Crate Escape. They are incredibly responsive and treat Gus as their own. When they come to pick him up he runs for the door and to their car without ever looking back. It’s like a mini-​adventure or vacation when he’s with them.
Check them out. Your dog will thank you and you won’t be disappointed.
