Specialties
The Pinecrest Chalet resort features a variety of accommodations to meet the lodging needs of any size family or group. Only 1 mile to Pinecrest Lake and the closest lodging to Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, it is your gateway to high Sierra winter fun. We frequently host special groups, family reunions, and weddings.
Our Chalets promise quaint and comfortable lodging in 1 – 4 room cabin suites complete with fully stocked kitchens, gas and wood burning fireplaces, and full bathrooms. Our cottages are closer to hotel rooms that sleep 2 – 4 and include full bathrooms and basic cooking conveniences.
The «Summer Adventure» program invites guests to guided tours of hidden fly fishing streams, rock climbing instruction, paddle boarding, archery, and more. Our «Winter Lair» program offers a long weekend of snowy fun for the whole family, including delicious meals, group ski discounts, and on– site activities for the whole family.
We also have a seasonally heated pool, playground, and sport courts for children.
History
Established in 1952.
The Pinecrest Chalet is a Sierra Nevada landmark and tradition founded as a rustic three-story dorm room with a separate kitchen and an outhouse. Over the past sixty years «the Chalet» has grown considerably and hosted thousands of guests from all around the world. In May of 2009 the U.C. Berkeley California Alumni Association acquired the year-round family resort, as the perfect complementary sister property to its world-renowned Lair of the Golden Bear summer family camps just down stream.
During the 2013 – 2014 season, new management and staff pioneered a period of retrofitting and beautification that has given the property new life.
