Description

Specialties

The official subtitle of Di Bruno Bros. is «The House of Cheese,» which we validate with a selection of over 200 cheeses year round. Aside from cheese, the Rittenhouse location specializes in prepared foods ranging from delicious sandwiches to salads to daily chef’s specials. The Upstairs @ Di Bruno is open daily from 11:30−3pm for lunch and weekend brunch. The espresso bar serves Illy brand coffees starting at 7am with bagels and baked goods.

The gourmet food store also has a wide array of specialty foods, including the finest assortment of olive oil and vinegar in the city of Philadelphia. You can also find seafood, kosher meats, and Charcuterie counters offering steaks, tuna, shrimp and more. The prepared foods counter has everything from fresh hummus to antipasti and barrels of imported olives. We can help you stock your pantry with cheese accompaniments from fig spread to truffle honey. And last, but certainly not least, we offer desserts, chocolate and gifts.

History

Established in 1939.

In 1939, after emigrating from Italy, two brothers, Danny and Joe Di Bruno, came together to open a small grocery in the Italian Market. Their dedication to culinary pioneering still today drives each cheesemonger, gourmet specialist, and customer service representative you encounter, holding not only a passion for fine food, but the legacy of Joe and Danny Di Bruno close their hearts. Di Bruno Bros. continues to be family owned and operated, with the original storefront standing proudly in Philadelphia’s Italian Market.

In 2004, Di Bruno Bros. expanded their family dream, adding the Chestnut Street store location in center city Philadelphia. This location quickly became a gourmet destination, catering to the hustle and bustle in the heart of Philadelphia.
