A customer on a motorized scooter ordered a plate lunch from here then asked if someone could open the door so she could leave. The lady that took her order told her all she had to do was push it open and she walked away. What kind of customer service is that??!

Got a coupon for Pearl’s Chinese Kitchen. It took me a while to find it. It locates next to Don Quijote’s entrance. I ordered a whole roast duck($ 20), pretty good price even without a coupon.

This is the first time I’m giving 2 stars for a Chinese place. As I have mentioned in other reviews I have done for Chinese restaurants, I am bias because I love Chinese food. However, they really disappointed me here. I have to say I have been a fan of this place since I was in elementary school back since the mid early 90s. I always loved coming here for the pork hash, fried rice, and lemon chicken. Now I have heard many horror stories about this place from friends, but I have always shrugged it off because I enjoyed the food. But my last visit was very negative. The food tasted like they were fried with the same oil that had a hint of fish. I felt sick soon after eating my order and could not finish my plate. I had to throw out my plate because I felt so bad. Now since my bad experience I have not returned and have been cautious about returning. However I do have to say I did enjoy the char siu during the couple times I ordered half a pound or so. Unfortunately my last visit I ordered it and it tasted weird. This is probably why I have been hesitant to return. I love char siu so the shock probably got to me haha. Anyway, I do intend to come back one day and hopefully the food will be better. If my next experience is good, I will definitely update this review.

This review is solely based on the food, because like the other two reviews mentioned the facility is a pretty run down. Also the older Chinese ladies that work their aren’t too friendly, but hey, they get the job done. My grandma had a craving for roast pork, and being the sweet granddaughter that I am(hehe!) I decided to venture out and get some for her since I was already in the area. So I enter the place and it’s a tiny food court, the line wasn’t too bad. I order 2.5 pounds of pork, as well as pork hash, jin dui, and rice cake. So here’s the breakdown: Roast Pork: it was tasty, not too salty but it had good flavor. I wish the skin was a little bit crispier, but it did have a good amount of fat which I liked. Pork Hash: I really liked it because it was big and juicy, the outside was slightly oily, but it was good. Jin Dui: so I really like those small sesame balls that they sell at places like Genki and Kuru Kuru, however this is a HUGER version of it. I liked the texture, it was spot on. My only riff was that their wasn’t enough sweet black bean filling inside of the ball. I wish their was more! Rice Cake: it was alright, the flavor was good. It was just alright to me, I’ve had better and I’ve had worse, so I guess you could say it was somewhere in the middle. It had something to do with the texture. Would I come here again? Yes, but only if I’m in the area. Oh, and the lady forgot to put the mustard sauce in my bag, which I’d asked for, so make sure you double check.

Good food, but what a dump. It’s in a small food court with a Filipino, Korean, and Japanese restaurant. The Chinese food here in the steam table looked adequate. I ordered some saimin and although the roast pork was about a fatty as some expensive pork belly, I thought it was tasty. No AC here. Place could really use some cleaning up. Decent service at the counter. Shopping center parking.

I say 2.5, so I rounded up to 3… Hit or Miss! This place is a hit or miss with service and food. For the most part the food tastes the same, but like any other place that leaves their food out, if it is sitting out for too long, everything turns yucky and dried out. They display everything in half size pans to avoid drying out the food on display, but it still happens on occasion. If you go at the right time, when new dishes are brought out, it is much better. Convenient location if grocery shopping, but keep an open mind when dining here, it is an old food court. I mean, what Chinese restaurant do you know keeps the place so clean you want to eat off the floor?
