Description

Specialties

Caliza is a small, family-owned winery and vineyard specializing in crafting wines from varietals common to the Rhôné Valley of France — but with a few twists thrown in. Our wines reflect what we feel are an excellent example of what the region has to offer — bold, yet elegant wines that drink well today and into the future.

History

Established in 2006.

In 2005 the vision began when Carl and Pam Bowker planted their 20 acre hillside vineyard. Located on Anderson Road in the famed Templeton Gap on the Westside of Paso Robles, the warm days are met with the cooling evening influences of the coastal marine breezes.

Meet the Business Owner

Carl B.

Business Owner

Carl Bowker has followed a long yet steady path towards his goal of producing special wines. Born and raised in Hawaii, Carl began his farming experience while tagging along with his father, an irrigation specialist. This early introduction left a lasting e appreciation for soils and the farming life.

Carl honed his horticultural skills running a business supplying plants for trade shows and events. Then, in 2001, Carl’s affection for wine turned into an obsession during a visit to Europe. It was there that he expanded his appreciation for world class wines and for what the land could produce.

In 2004, Carl and Pam traveled to France’s Rhone Valley and the die was cast. Paso Robles, with it’s Rhone Valley roots, was the perfect location to pursue Carl’s passion for viticulture and winemaking.

In 2005, Carl and Pam purchased and began farming their 20-acre vineyard in the coveted Willow Creek region of Paso and have since earned countless awards for their balanced and elegant wine.
