This was my first visit to Dr. Chan for a second opinion. I had braces twenty years ago and have worn a retainer since but have recently noticed movement in my teeth. My primary orthodontist said all was well, but it still felt strange.
Dr.Chan was very friendly and professional as we discussed my history in his office, then he inspected my teeth and the retainer. I was very impressed by how thoroughly he explained his diagnosis, as he spoke about the structure of how a well aligned teeth and jaws are supposed be and then explained how mine was misaligned. He explained several options on how to correct my problem without any pressure to do them there or at all. I would definitely come back to him for any future orthodontic work.

I want to start this review in saying that I am probably one of the toughest patients Dr. Chan has ever worked with because I am extremely paranoid and on top of that have some pretty messed up teeth. I came to Dr. Chan knowing it was going to be a long road to a beautiful smile considering I am missing both lateral incisors, needed oral surgery to retrieve my eye teeth from my pallet and would need implants in a few years. Luckily for me, Dr. Chan was always very patient with me (and my very involved parents) the whole way through. Dr. Chan genuinely listened to any concerns my parents or I had and made sure he addressed them thoroughly. Dr. Chan is extremely informative, knowledgeable, and most importantly, willing to answer all questions.
Dr. Chan’s hours are incredibly flexible, his appointments start on time (if not early), and I have never once felt rushed or that I couldn’t ask a question. I am about to leave for a four-​month trip to Italy and of course I forgot to make an appointment to see him. Dr. Chan happily squeezed me in and I’m pretty sure cut into his lunch break in order to help me out. I am writing this review today because six years later, I am still incredibly impressed and pleased with not only the treatment, but also the amount of care Dr. Chan and his staff give their patients. I am very grateful for all that Dr. Chan has done and continues to do for me. Orthodontists have a rough job… they are always the one person you associate with all the pain and annoyance braces entail. After six years of many, many visits to his office, I can’t think of how it could have been a better experience and would recommend him without hesitation.

Don’t understand the bad reviews for Dr. Chan. He is a fantastic orthodontist. He’s meticulous in his treatment and the results are beautiful. He treated my two daughters and I’m about to take in my son. The appointments are what they are: you’re dealing with a busy office and everyone else’s busy life: you go in when you can. If they miss an hour of school, so be it — it’s once a month and it’s not forever! He is NOT mean. He is a very nice person. We are lucky to have him as our orthodontist. Thank you Dr. Chan.

Dr. Chan is truly one of the best orthodontists that I have experienced. We sent our two oldest to him and he did a wonderful job. He was always friendly and courteous and his work was very good. I also appreciate his flexibility in scheduling appointments as there were sometimes that we needed to make changes at the last minute.
My youngest had to go to another orthodontist because of our change of location, and let me just say that he did not have the kind of great experience that we have grown accustomed to with Dr. Chan. Many orthodontists, like the one my youngest had, try to rush the process of moving teeth which causes damage to the roots. I appreciate that Dr. Chan takes the time to move the teeth at the right pace to avoid any future issues.
I have read some of these poor reviews on Dr. Chan and I have to admit that I have never experienced anything like what is being said. After dozens of visits, my experiences have always been good. However, I have to ask the question, «Are these issues so terrible that you would miss out on getting the best orthodontic care for you or your kids?» I wouldn’t. It is a rare thing to find a truly good orthodontist, in my opinion. After almost 10 years with Dr. Chan, I would say he is a rare find.

I should have written this review long time ago but I loved his staff.
Dr. Chan could not get my retainer to fit and it was giving me pain and discomfort for months.
When during one appointment he had shouted at me and I mean really shouted — I stopped seeing him.
The other doctor at this office, Dr. Curtis, had no problem adjusting the retainer and my pain and discomfort were finally gone.

I was truly surprised to see the poor reviews for Dr. Chan. I feel compelled to share our good experience here.
We knew our son was going to need braces ever since his permanent teeth started to come in. Our dentist gave us a list of orthodontists. We have visited four orthodontists on the list for consultation and we like Dr. Chan the best.
My son is not quite ready for the braces yet. Dr. Chan sees him every 6 months to monitor the progress free of charge. We have visited Dr. Chan office several times already. Beside the initial consultation, for which Dr. Chan would only do them on certain days and at certain hours so he would have sufficient time to evaluate a new patient, we were always able to make early appointments before school easily (granted that we do have a 6-​month lead time). His paperwork was sent to us in advance so we didn’t have to spend time filing them out in the office. We never had to wait long when we were there (unlike some other offices we visited). We found Dr. Chan to be very thorough, knowledgeable and informative and his recommendations sound. Our pediatric dentist performed the extractions based on Dr. Chan’s recommendations and my son’s teeth had been coming in much better ever since, which we believe would make the future orthodontic work easier and less painful (in so many ways, including on our purse strings).
I came across the poor review because I was considering doing orthodontic works for myself and was looking up Dr. Chan’s so I could call to make an initial consultation appointment. I was able to make my appointment over the phone easily. The receptionist was helpful, nice and polite, as always. I even had to call back and change my appointment to another day, which was done quickly without fuss.
I value my time, a well-​maintained clean office, nice staff and a good doctor. Would l like it more if Dr. Chan has weekend hours? Sure. But after talking to several orthodontists, he is the doctor that I had the most confidence to entrust my kid’s future teeth and facial development and appearance. It is true that we are not yet regular patients of Dr. Chan and our experience has been limited. But so far but our 4 visits had all been great.

I see Dr. Chan hasn’t changed at all. I went to him a decade ago, and his bad personality always stood out. One example: I once rinsed and got some water, as many people do, onto some surface outside the sink. He said aloud: «Look!!! You got it all over, ugh.» I was like 13 at the time, and he acted like I had done it on purpose and that it was a completely outrageous — rather than commonplace — thing to have happen. Oh, yeah, his breath smells.
Clearly a guy with a complex.

This office is almost impossible to work with and I would NOT recommend taking your child here for braces! First of all, the appointment hours are extremely limited and only during school hours with no appointments on Friday, which I find unusual for a practice comprised of kids. Secondly, the office and Dr. Chan himself are downright surly and unaccomodating once you’ve committed to going there. My son is scared of Dr. Chan and says he’s actually mean! I will say Dr. Chan’s new assoicate is nice but has not adjusted the hours to better suit kids. I’m so sorry we have to continue paying them for such terrible service.
