Super happy with my haircut! Yusuke did a great job with my long pixie/​short bob. What I most appreciate was his taking the time to get all the details right; he asked some questions beforehand to make sure he understood what I wanted, and he made adjustments along the way and at the very end so as to really «nail» it. He did NOT rush at all, and I could sense real care behind his workmanship. :]
Lucy was the receptionist. She greeted me warmly and also gave me an excellent shampoo/​head massage. The chairs at the wash station are a bit too large for short people like me (I had to scoot up a few times throughout the shampooing), but other than that, I have no complaints.
Overall, great first time at KC! The place is underground, but there are big windows and lots of natural light. It’s airy and bright. Ambience is urban and workshop-​y. Not too «stuffy», which I prefer.
Definitely recommend!

2 stars for the hair coloring, 0 star for haircut. Went in for haircut and color with Yuta, hair color was ok, the medium ash brown turned out darker than expected but it was acceptable. The haircut was a complete mess. Yuta did too much layers around my face and I specifically said I want fuller ends and not too much layering. Also the first thing I said was to have a straight cut, then I ended up with a V shaped cut. Very disappointed.

Today was my first visit to KC Salon. The salon itself is hip and cool. Its located on the lower level of a brick building and feels very NYC. The stylists are fashionable and seem to have their own unique style. I was greeted right away and MAGGIE began my shampoo immediately. She thoroughly washed my hair and gently massaged my scalp. My stylist was ROXY and she was great. She listened to what I wanted and made sure to check with me first before cutting the length. Roxy knows what she is doing and I would recommend asking for her if you’ve never been to this salon.

Had a horrible haircut and came to KC salon, met Yuta and was amazed on how he saved my hair. I’m also new in the neighborhood and I’m happy to say that i found my new hairstylist. I will definitely recommend him to my family and friends.

The nightmare of anybody trying new hair salons is to get a stylist who doesn’t listen to your needs and take a creative dive by cutting/​trimming your hair like your head is their testing lab or to get a stylist who is not creative at all and can only rely on the photos you bring with you.
I am extremely happy that Yuta at KC is neither of the ones described above. He spoke good English, and patiently listened to my needs. I walked in only having a brief idea of the styles I wanted and I spent more time describing to him my morning routines so he knows exactly the type of haircut that’d match my schedule. The process wasn’t complicated, and he gave me something that looks great for my face shape and can be easily managed. I got a haircut and a perm for $ 140.
Besides difficult parking on Los Robles, everything else was perfection.

I have been going before to many places trying to find the suitable barber /​studio for me. I have went to expensive cool hipster (75 USD /​men’s haircut — no walk-​ins at all) places in west hollywood, to very famous barber shop specialized in fade-​ins in east hollywood, to FLOYD’s barber shop. KC is the best for me for many reasons.
1. The price is amazing and very reasonable for what you get. (35USD for everything)
2. They shampoo you before the haircut, and after the haircut with massage (most relaxing)
3. Amazing customer service, you feel like royalty every time you go there
4. You book an appointment and when you arrive there you barely wait (the longest i waited was 5 minutes), — other places i always waited 40 minutes for my turn
5. They take their time cutting your hair, and you are treated as a human being (most other famous places they treat you like a number, or a sheep where its very fast and barely care about you)
6. Yuta actually is a very skilled stylist, and he is the only one ever to cut my hair as i wanted. He is so skilled that my wife screwed our sons hair when she took him to a kids barber shop, and i took him to YUTA and showed him a picture of what we wanted, he honestly fixed it better than the photo we showed him. All other places i have been to are very limited and only know how to cut certain styles (fade-​ins, classical…) and when you ask them for something out of their norm, they can’t deliver. YUTA delivers especially if you are into more european hairstyles.
7. If i need to mention any negative remark, i can think of nothing but the parking, they have one but far from the studio a block away. they give you a special printed permit to put on your glass and park in the church’s parking and you walk to the studio; but it is not a big deal.

It’s so hard to find the perfect hairstylist, Roxy is amazing!!! Love her!!! She’s fabulous with color, cut, style, etc. She has a way to just know what I want and what will look best. I can’t say enough great things about her. The photos speak for themselves!!!
Prices are reasonable and they will give you a parking pass to park at the church near by. Very easy to schedule appointments.

This was such a great salon experience. The staff was super nice and prompt and I am very happy with my haircut. Yusuke was my stylist and he was not only extremely competent and relatively fast (which is important to me) but also very sweet and cordial (checked with me regarding lengths before cutting, etc). I was also happy with the price for the amazing service I received.

I am so impressed with Yuta and KC Stylist Studio! After a bad cut, I really needed someone who knew how to cut Asian hair and who knew what they were doing. After looking extensively on Unilocal,I scheduled an appointment with Yuta.
First, you get this amazing shampoo and wash that feels like a massage. When I visit family in Taiwan, I love getting my hair cut because they know what they are doing and they always give the best shampoo massages! So happy to have found something like that here in LA!
Then, Yuta started cutting my hair. I showed him a picture of what I wanted but asked him to make sure it was manageable and for the cut to fit my face. He did such a great job! He is efficient and masterful in his abilities. He took his time to make sure the hair cut as a whole looked good, and did not overlook any details.
Yuta even told me how to style my hair at home. I’m so happy I came here and so happy to have found a place to go get my thick, straight, Asian hair cut!
*Tip* They have a parking lot one block away, but you have to get a permit before you can park there. If it’s your first time, I would suggest temporarily parking in front at the meters or nearby, running in and getting a permit, and then parking in the lot.

Today was my first time at this Salon. And first off I love love the location and the set up of the salon. It’s technically underground but it’s just so contemporary the design I love it.
So I had really really long color damaged hair, and tbh I was kind of nervous bc I hadn’t seen many pictures of short hair cuts from here, and I really wanted a textured lob.
Roxy cut and styled my hair. Oh my goodness. She is the sweetest person and amazing with a pair of scissors. She gave me EXACTLY what I wanted. I showed her a couple pictures and she only needed to see it briefly and got exactly what I wanted.
The only downside would be parking is kind of hard to find, but really your hair is going to be looking so cute so who really cares haha.
HIGHLY recommend! Tbch, I think I finally found «my place». Every single hair cut I’ve ever had has been at a different place, and now I finally will always come back!

Two weeks ago one of our friends who hasn’t seen my daughter in years asked us. «Oh she got a perm?» Back history. Daughter’s hair was completely straight growing up. then all of a sudden (hormones) started getting curly hair, so curly it made my daughters thin hair look thick and frizzy, it was also so hard to take care of. So I was looking to find an expert in Japanese Hair straightening because I heard a lot of horror stories and didn’t want anything to happen to my daughter. Found KC stylist thru Unilocal and was able to book a consultation with Master stylist Yuta over the Labor Day holiday weekend for the Japanese hair straightening.
This salon is amazing it’s open every day of the week, so it’s really flexible to everyone’s schedule and open at 9 on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday is the best, metered parking is not enforced on Sunday but there’s also paseo parking lot nearby and salon offers parking pass to a church.
Back to the services at KC, Yuta and his assistants are phenomenal! They allowed us to ask questions about process, they also asked questions about hair history. This is the first time taking my daughter to a salon. My daughters hair is lighter than the usual Asian black hair (comes from father’s side Taiwanese, ¼ Japanese) so Yuta had thought we had done coloring before but I assured him we have not. Just lighter due to chlorine from swimming pools and sun damage. I have completely straight hair that can hardly hold a curl, daughter has kinks and tiny curls all over hair and was using chi straight iron every other night to get hair straight. Yuta mentioned it would take 3 – 3.5 hours. It took a little longer (it was the holiday weekend) and he was working with 4 other clients during our stay (we didn’t have any plans and didn’t mind the wait, even got to see TsuNami who is a regular at this salon, his hair is straight fire btw looks good!) everyone that came in, walked out with amazing hair! Anyway after treatments my daughters hair was also amazing see pics for reference, it’s so easy to brush and so smooth. We waited 3 days before shampoo/​conditioning hair and it’s just as beautiful as we walked out of the salon, she makes sure not to sleep with wet hair and salon staff mentioned how to upkeep and blow dry hair. But really she doesn’t have to do anything after shower, just air dry and go. Thank you Yuta and everyone that worked on daughter’s hair. She loves it so much and is very happy.

I found this place because I used to go to the KC Beauty Academy in downtown LA to get my hair cut and no longer worked in downtown, so it was more convenient to visit this other KC salon.
My experience was just as great at visiting the KC Beauty Academy — which I loved. Roxy took care of me for my morning appointment (which I had called to schedule in advance).
I came in with really long hair (after months of not getting a hair cut) and my layers had grown out, and I felt like I had witch hair.
Roxy cut my layers, and took a few inches off my hair — which was needed. She also did a side part so I had a slightly different look than normal which really worked for me. She has a good eye.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience, with the nice shampoo they do, and am planning on going back again. I found my new place.

I went to this place cause of Unilocal.I went in July 3^rd and told Abbey I’m going to see the play phantom of the opera. It was awesome, the hairstyle I mean! Abbey was sweet and kind. Listen to what I wanted. I am coming back here again! Don’t listen to any of the negative reviews on this place. Cause this place is close by and not bad of prices. And when I come back I’m asking for Abbey again. Again Abbey, thanks a lot! My fiancé loved it!

Had an awesome experience with abbey! She did a bayalage on me and I love it. Definitely coming back

Having recently moved I needed to find a new hair salon as I am the type to stick to just one. I am very pleased with the results and have to give major thanks to Abbie, my stylist!
I called Sunday morning to schedule for an Ombré and luckily they had an appointment available that day. I came in and didn’t worry about parking since I live fairly close but there is a structure and a little on street parking. I was immediately seated and offered refreshments (I chose green tea). My first impression was that it reminded me of a salon I used to go to. It was also nice and clean, more of a hip underground salon vibe than your ultra-​modern, which I liked!
Abbie took her time with my hair, was very friendly, and attentive. Before this my hair was dyed and highlighted so I know it required a little more to work around. But the end result is perfect and I left a happy customer. The color blends smoothly with my almost black roots and the blonde parts didn’t come out too bright which makes for a nice contrast. I highly recommend trying this place out if you are looking for good hair salons. Price-​wise, this place is reasonable especially for Pasadena, and I didn’t feel like losing an arm and a leg for a process that took almost 3 hours.

I said I’d be back with an update one month later and my hair did grow about one inch :) so happy! Still haven’t used heat and I’ll post another photo in one month! Happy growing!

This was my first balayage treatment and I am absolutely in love with it. I found Roxy through a promotion from Salon Save and she was located in Pasadena in KC Stylist Studio. It is an underground hair salon right on Los Robles and Green Street. It has a modern vibe inside and they have great music playing. I scheduled my appointment with Roxy on Wednesday at 10am and she told me the whole process would take about 5 hours. Understandable since I have fairly long hair and the wait time to apply the dye would take some time. Before you officially park, you have to park right outside on the street and quickly run inside to get a parking pass for the church public parking nearby. It is just down the corner so it was not too bad of a walk. I was greeted and offered a delicious fruit iced tea before the process began. I sent her a picture of my hair beforehand and sent her an example of what I was going for. She knew exactly what I wanted and we began.
Luckily, I did not have to bleach my hair since it was virgin (never dyed) which cut the time from 5 hours to only 3! I was in and out of the salon by 1:30pm. We began around 10:30am so I was very pleased with the service.
Roxy made me feel right at home and we had girl talk the whole time she did my hair. I definitely recommend her. She surprised me at the end with a full blowout (pictures attached) and I was in love with the results. I will be going back to her in a couple weeks for my graduation hairdo and I can not wait to see what she has in store for me.

Just moved to LA from SD and I was recommended this salon from my brother in law who cuts his hair with Yuta. So i decided to check it out. The salon is clean & they play good music! I was offered coffee, tea, or water. Tomoko shampooed my hair & gave me an awesome massage! Best haircut I’ve had in years.
For the ladies my sister in law recommends Roxy!

I bought a Groupon for KC Stylist last year and have been going there ever since for my girl Roxy.
I always love the way she cuts and styles my hair and recently she did my make up for a wedding.
She loves what she does and it shows.
I love the hair wash and you are always offered a beverage.
If there isn’t parking in front, run into the studio to get a parking pass for the lot which is a quick block away.

OMG! The HAIR GODS HAVE ANSWERED MY PRAYERS! I have been on a hunt for a nice place to cut my hair where the stylist does what YOU WANT AND ASK FOR! Cause of that problem i haven’t cut my hair in years! UNTIL this salon came into my life
My favorite is miss ROXY! Oh how i love that woman lol, asked her for long layers with slight waves and she got it on point! Not only did i get a wonderful hair cut i was treated so wonderful, i was offered drinks and we chatted i felt so GREAT AND VALUED being there! The salon is also so cute, organized, neat! You will not regret coming here! I highly recommend roxy, sweet girl who knows what she’s doing. I felt so confident that my hair was in her care didnt worry a bit of to much getting cut off! Even after my hair grew out i felt as if it grew out healthier than ever, she’s just got that magic touch for hair! Im definitely coming back! They have a loyal customer here thats staying! Dont think twice just go! You wont regret it!
