I assist buyers and sellers with residential real estate transactions in the Pasadena area. I have 10 years of real estate sales experience and prior to coming to John Aaroe Group I worked for a large national real estate company for 5.5 years.

I have been a top producing agent nationally 4 of the last 5 years. I closed 24 transactions with $ 20,000,000 in sales volume in 2013.

Many of my clients are first-​time homebuyers; Seniors looking to downsize; seasoned investors looking for cash-​flow properties; and buyers looking to move-​up into a larger space. I earned my ABR® (Accredited Buyer Representative) designation in 2009 and my Green Designation in 2013.

I am a San Marino native who graduated San Marino High School in 1995. I went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Arizona in 1999 where I also minored in Creative Writing. After graduation I returned to the Pasadena area working several years for a large national lender as a wholesale mortgage representative.

I received my California Real Estate Sales License in 2004 and earned my Broker’s License in 2007. I earned my ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative) in 2009 and my Green Designation in 2013.

I’ve been wobbling between staying and selling for the better part of two years, and throughout this personal saga Jim Tripodes has been my trustworthy rock. As I expect my next move will be my last, this stressful decision-​making is heightened.
With the patience of Job, Jim has assisted me in exploring select prospective properties — and more importantly — strategizing how best to sell my own when the time comes. As many homeowners have to endure, my home will be subject to city inspections upon transfer. I’ve had a lot of questions about what to expect, and Jim has provided factual information and solid — never sugar-​coated — advice.
When the time comes I have absolute faith that Jim will market my home with the finesse and dedication I see he gives to all his listings. And from our many discussions, I know Jim’s ethical standards are the highest.

I am a very happy first time home owner thanks to Jim. He came highly recommended from friends after a successful purchase of their first home. Jim’s patience, honesty and knowledge are solely responsible for this amazing transaction. I mean it, this deal does not happen without Jim. The property is a fixer upper, to put it kindly, a total renovation needed, and when we found out it also needed a new foundation that almost killed the deal. There was no way I could afford the extra cost, even if it was deducted from purchase price. Jim saved the deal with his familiarity of a special rehab loan: The 203k rehab/​renovation loan. In essence we negotiated down 60k from list price due to condition of property and foundation, as well as one last kicker: the house was being rented out to Section 8 tenants. That worked out to benefit me greatly as the 203k loan takes about 60 – 90 days to process, and the tenant situation gave me the time to secure the loan. Jim wisely advised against assuming ownership of property before tenants vacated, as to not assume that risk. The 203k essentially works like a future draw on equity: The amount of the loan is determined as the difference between purchase price and assumed value after completed renovations. So the bank is giving me the money and ability to pursue the property’s wonderful potential, and I end up with a very affordable home that’s valued much higher than my initial conventional mortgage approval amount! Unbelievable. Thanks Jim!

Jim Tripodes is an exceptional realtor. Our home just closed recently and the entire process could not have gone smoother. After listening to Jim’s advice on price, timing and staging, we were able to accept a cash offer (above asking) with a short escrow. It was so nice to have someone who is so knowledgeable (an expert) in all things real estate. He was in constant communication with us the entire way. His marketing strategy, which is both effective and beautiful, gave us the opportunity to pick from multiple offers, top dollar, and got our home seen by a large amount of potential buyers. Jim handled the sale of this property when we bought it, helped us rent it out years later to a great tenant, and now handled the sale. Jim was recommended to us by a friend and we can honestly say we could not be any happier that we worked with him to find our house. As mentioned in a previous post, Jim really cares about his clients. I specifically recall one incident when my wife and I thought a property we viewed was a good option for us; however, Jim did not hesitate to point out a few key issues that did not meet our search criteria and suggested we wait for a better opportunity. In this extremely complicated housing market, it is critical that you have an experienced and honest real estate agent on your side.
