StarLight CareGivers is focused on exceptional home care services for seniors and the disabled. Offering non-​medical personal care and companionship care, we are passionate about our mission to provide premium in-​home care services to enhance the living quality of clients as well as their family members. A free in-​home assessment gives us a clear understanding of client’s needs, lifestyle, and personality for developing a care plan and matching caregivers.

Our caregivers are direct employees, not contractors, and fully insured, including workers comp, liability insurance, and bonded. We manage all benefits, tax withholding, and employer contributions for federal and state unemployment insurance.

History

Established in 2011.

We became inspired due to our own experience with aging grandparents, and our own parents growing older while very far away from us. Our demanding work schedule and great distance have prevented us from caring for our own aging family members, but we have been lucky to have a supportive family and a caregiver network nearby them. Duanni’s (owner) grandfather, as of this writing, is celebrating his 100^th birthday, due in large part to loving family caregivers surrounding him over the years. David’s (co-​owner /​spouse) grandparents lived well into their 90s due in large part to helpful family caregivers in the home. Others may not be so lucky. We have seen friends and colleagues forced to leave the workforce or greatly reduce working hours to care for aging parents. We are inspired to provide respite and care services for their loved ones so working professionals and families don’t have to bear the burden alone.

Meet the Business Owner

Duanni H.

Business Owner

Duanni Hurd is the President and founder of StarLight CareGivers, She is originally from Beijing, China where she graduated college, and then obtained her Master’s Degree in Communication from the University of Arizona. Duanni had over a dozen year’s of experience as a sales professional with major technology companies before stepping aside to pursue her passion of servicing the vulnerable. She is also a highly trained and certified yoga and fitness instructor for over a decade now and thoroughly enjoys working with others on these healthy activities.

David Hurd is StarLight CareGivers executive director and co-​founder and is originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin. David began his career as a creative consultant for a major software company in San Jose before spending the last 15 years directing the communication departments of a few mid-​sized public semiconductor companies.
