Sabrosa Taqueria

Prices in line with expectations for the location… BUT the problem is competition.
$ 2.50 per regular taco, vs currently $ 1.85 for Sanchos.
On top of that, Sanchos offers more per taco for a lower price? Thats a no brainer.
Alternate: $ 3.95 Fish Taco @ Sanchos. It comes on a BIG flour tortilla, which makes it worth the price.
Sabrosa’s? $ 3.95 for the same tiny corn tortillas, not even remotely close to Sancho’s serving size.
And its not worthy of a comparison to Tacolicious down the road. This (Sabrosa’s) is a cut and dry standard style taqueria but overpriced. Tacolicious is different, a Mexican taco styled restaraunt that gets creative and unique with its creation of unique versions of classic Mexican styles.
So, no complaints about the service, sufficient and pretty quick.
But the price? Noncompetitive. Owner do your homework. There is a reason that Sancho’s is packed on the regular and the taco joint down the street (yours) is regularly empty. Or at least make an attempt to justify your prices (Organic grass fed beef? all organic products?) None of that. 2 stars. My advice: Go to Sanchos if you need your Mexican fix nearby, otherwise go to Redwood City

Uh there are way better eateries nearby, however, it’s ok for a grab and go.

I’m Mexican & me & my wife made the mistake of no reading the reviews on Unilocal before entering this place. What a disgrace to Mexican Food, and what a rip off. You can count the pieces of chicken on a regular chicken taco, 3 – 4 max, incredible!
Forget about the Burritos, since you can’t see how much meat they put in them, barely any.
Don’t waste yur money or time going to this place, is terrible!

This place was disgusting. It was owned by a Persian family who did not display any customer service. Everything in the restaurant seemed to be Americanized and overly priced. The food took a long time for them to prepare, they did not do anything, and the food did not taste good when we ate. If you want Mexican food, DO NOT GO HERE.

we ran into this place when we stopped by Cream. service was fast & friendly. the nachos were so good! they don’t use none of that fake processed cheese! it’s a mexican sign but it was Persians running it and i had no objections but I want to try some Persian food too!

If your looking for food in downtown palo alto that won’t break your wallet this place is great. Super burrito for $ 8 salsa bar with chips and friendly service. Burrito was real good, not amazing (I’m from San Jose not sure if any taqueria in palo alto will be up to par for me) but definitely coming back again.

Burritos not very flavorful and the «super» didn’t appear to include sour cream or cheese.

Stopped here to eat with co-​workers and try it out after passing by several times before it opened. Being from San Jose, my expectations are high when it comes to taquerias. I was very disappointed in my experience here.
It took forever to order our food, but took a freaking eternity to actually receive our food. I typically order a super burrito carne asada. How can you mess that up?! So after waiting over 15 – 20 mins, our food starts rolling out. 2 of our 5 orders came out wrong and had to be fixed. During our waiting period, we noticed that there were prior lip stains on one of the cups… gross.
Onto the food, I was hoping to have an authentic burrito, however my burrito consisted more tortilla than it should and not enough meat/​fillings on the inside. The flavor wasn’t spectacular, and it wasn’t worth paying slightly higher for a burrito (prices higher because of location, right on University Ave.)
My co-​workers and I were in agreement, we would probably not come back here to eat based off this experience.

My coworkers and I are making this our new Mexican hangout for a work lunch.
Prices are good, food is hot, and the quality is pretty damn good.
I’ve certainly had better Mexican in my life, but so far, this is the best of 4 places (Sancho’s is awful. No idea what’s up with ratings around here) I’ve been to near downtown Palo Alto.
We like getting burritos with no tortilla. Spicy chicken meat is very well flavored.
The owner is personable, and environment quite clean and enjoyable.
I only notice that they’re customer volume is low. Perhaps the strange low Unilocal ratings?
I think they need to either keep their door open, or remodel so that they’re entrance is more open and welcoming like the rest of downtown Palo Alto.
I’m giving them 5 stars because they’ve saved my ass when it comes to good inexpensive Mexican in downtown Palo Alto.
Don’t really have any complaints to make.

I have been looking for a good burrito place in Palo Alto for a while and been unable to find a place I really enjoyed until today! I went to Sabrosas with no expectations and left extremely satisfied both by my taste buds and by my stomach. I ordered a wet veggie burrito and upon mentioning that I CRAVE extremely spicy things, I was brought a container of special spicy salsa that I loved. It was all incredibly delicious and my boyfriend agreed with me. He got their lengua (which I tried a taste of). It was cooked to perfection! So tender it basically melted in my mouth. Good job Sabrosas! You have received a loyal customer in us. And we intend to send more people your way.

Ordered a carnitas super burrito and got a regular burrito with very little carnitas. I also didn’t taste much flavor in the carnitas. So I decided to go on Unilocal to see what other people were saying and to see if it was worth my time and money to give them a second chance. My answer after reading the owner’s replies to other comments is ABSOLUTELY NOT.
A first impression is key in the restaurant industry, if you’re not ready to put a quality product on a plate then don’t open your doors. Accusing your customers of not being responsible and not having respect for the working class is laughable. Have respect for the food you serve and the business you run. Take the criticism you’re reading and try to improve your product and the customer’s experience.
I was a take-​out customer so I did not have the opportunity to tell you guys on the spot what you guys got wrong. I thought about calling but at this point there isn’t anything you could say or do to get me to come back to Sabrosa. I’ll stick with Sancho’s and Tacolicious.

I was very pleased with the relaxed, centrally located Sabrosa Taqueria. I had pork enchiladas with a piquant green sauce. The meat was perfectly grilled, the corn tortillas were full of taste, and the green sauce was light and ample. I would easily go back to Sabrosa. Not only is the food pleasing, the prices are modest. And that pleases me too.

I LOVE ceviche, Mexican lime marinated raw fish. Sancho’s over on Lytton St has very good ceviche and I have been a regular customer. No more. Sabrosa’s ceviche is even better than Sancho’s. Their ceviche makes them rate a 5 star in my book. Better grade of fish for sure. Sabrosa’s burritos and tacos which started out good are getting better. I think they have a new cook. The carnitas were perfectly seasoned, sooo tasty. They put a good portion of meat in the burritos and are not stingy. I’d give this place time to get everything fine tuned. So far it’s quite good and getting better. I just wish they were open really late. They kinda hide their fresh salsa under a folding cover but don’t miss it as it’s really good. One day I came there and they wouldnt sell me any ceviche as it was still marinating and wasn’t fully done. That’s a good sign actually. They care about quality more than a quick sale. The owner Dar is Persian and used to run Robaii on Hamilton St. He made the best falaffel (by far) in the Bay Area. Now he has opened a Mexican restaurant. His cook is Hispanic and Dar oversees the operation. Dar is smart guy, masters degree in mech engineering, and he really likes the restaurant business. He cares about the food he serves. I expect Sabrosa to be a success.

Super tasty beef tacos and they were ready for take out really fast! I was very pleased with the price and the taste. Definitely coming back again with friends! The interior decoration is also really fun.

We went in on a sunday & ordered Chicken Fajitas & Chicken Quesadilla. It seemed like the stuff was pre-​cocked either last night or many hours ago & was just reheated for us. Even then the chicken was half cocked & pink.
Maybe they were just having a bad day. :(

Just stopped by for tacos today and had a double take— I was in a Persian restaurant Thyme to Eat that looked strikingly similar. Am I in the matrix? After a quick chat with the owners (its a small mom and pop shop), they explained they just went from Persian to Mexican 4 days ago.
Menu is typical Mexican with tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, etc etc. I’m originally from Houston, Texas and can found the prices to be on par with Mexican joints there. Considering the place is on University, place is very affordable!
I ordered steak, chicken, al pastor, and chorizo tacos for $ 1.99 each. I also tried the Fish taco for $ 3.99 and chicken quesadilla. For being open for only four days now, they are still working out all the kinks. The tortillas had a slight crispiness to them and were pretty awesome. But the meats and insides of everything were less then the piping-​hot-​almost-​burn-​your-​tongue-​off they needs to be. The owners were very nice and receptive– they asked what I thought, and were definitely committed to great customer service.
Small business restaurant shops are probably one of the hardest businesses to survive in. Show your support and give feedback and I think the quality will only go up. The owners have a great attitude and I wish them the best. 3 stars today, thinking 4 stars soon!

They’re closed and long gone, but they were friendly and the food was just fine.

Thyme to Eat’s run was short lived. Unfortunate because there was little representation of Iranian food in the immediate area and I liked their cuisine. I think the same owners had to reconcept as it just wasnt attracting enough patrons. Came in for a quick lunch and got four tacos. Chorizo, al pastor, lengua and pescado. The first two were just ok but the latter two had good flavor. The major problem? the food was not entirely hot. Would help if the proteins were piping off the grill and if they griddled the tortillas. They’ve just opened so maybe it will take a few days before they get into their rhythm.
