Royal Computer Repair

My sister was visiting from Santa Monica when her computer as acting up. She took it to Royal and they fixed the issue for 250.00. They had to open the computer, take the entire thing apart and replace the thermal tape. Sounds fair enough. She went back to Santa Monica right after picking it up and notice the on/​off button was recessed in and she could not turn it on. She called Royal and they said bring it back. She drive 2 hours and they said it wasn’t anything caused by our work and we do not want to fix it. Very rude about it too. I thought this was strange and did some research. Not very surprised when I found this:
The third shop was Royal Computer in Cathedral City. We dropped off an identical computer and they told us they would diagnose it for free. When we hadn’t heard back from them, we went in to see if they found they problem.
They said they repaired it by resetting the bios, resetting the memory, installing updates and using static IP addresses. None of these actually fixed the problem. We were charged $ 95 for the repairs.
The owner of the store, Max Hassan, he writes, «Our staff is proud to showcase our honesty and integrity. We have been in business for the last 10 years and continuously provide excellent service. We diagnosed and serviced the computer problem properly. Our customers are always appreciative when we do extra service at no charge. We have a great reputation for taking good care of our customers, in fact out of thousands of transactions we have never had one credit card dispute.

Went through the directory of computer service and repair in PS, CC, and PD and these folks were the most professional, no-​attitude people to deal with. Very courteous, never talked down to you, and communication was clear and concise. This is the place to go for excellent service, and quality work. Debbie and her gang quote you a price and confirm it after investigation, and then they set up your stuff for hands-​on verification when you go to pick up your things. Price is very reasonable and they work on Macs as well as Windows/​PCs.

I spilled a little water on the Mac… since it was just a little, I decided to bring it here. They agreed that is was worth taking apart and taking a look. The next day they called and said it wasn’t salvageable. No charge for diagnosis :). The technician and store owner both talked with me at different times, and I decided to write a review just based on how nice and straightforward they both were. Also, very efficient and orderly despite there being more than one customer in the shop. I am typing this on my new mac.

Coming from SF (Silicon Valley) I never thought I could find a computer repair company to meet my needs. But I was wrong — I did at Royal Computers were the staff are awesome and extremely knowledgeable. I had found them on line, dropped in and was told if I leave my computer I would get a FREE estimate by tomorrow. Wow sounded great to me. The next day the call came but unfortunately it was not what I wanted to hear. The repairs would be as much as buying a new computer. I told them I needed to think about it. When I called back I spoke to Debbie. I explained to her that I just didn’t want to spend that much money. She said she had an idea and if I could come in she had a clients computer, a 2014 HP, that I might want to look at. Frustrated but needing my computer I decided to at least go look. Best thing I ever did as it was perfect and we negotiated a great price, at least it was for me. They were then able to get everything off my hard drive, transfer it to the new one, clean up my files, load an anti-​virus and it was ready to go in an hour. When I came back in, Mathew spent an hour teaching me how to navigate my new computer and Windows 10. I then remembered my Office 2013 but again not a problem they couldn’t fix. Mathew downloaded a Professional version of Office 2013 and then made sure all my files were there.
I will be back there for any and all computer problems and will tell all my family and friends! Million thanks Debbie, Mathew and Eddie.

Over the last few months, I’ve taken my laptops into Royal … for various issues … and I’m very pleased.
The staff is really cool. Plus, they know IT.
Best of all, the owner (Matthew) is hands-​on … and involved with customers.
Bottom line: I highly recommend Royal.

One of my biggest concerns when relocating from L.A. to Palm Springs was who would be able to handle fixing the various computers in my business. Believe it or not, we use everything from a DOS 486 to laptops to iPads, and each have specific and critical functions for our operations. I was just resigned to having to drive to L.A. if anything broke. Sure enough, the DOS crapped out first. Someone recommended Max over at «Royal Computers». Dubiously, I took the old 486 down to Max, who was delighted to see it. «I grew up building these things!» he exclaimed. Sure enough, he fixed it quickly and for a good price. I was so impressed I said, «can you find me another and set it up for this DOS program?» «Sure! No problem!» Two weeks later I had a «new» old computer to back up my other old 486. A few months later, a FAVORITE laptop that runs on XP died. I LOVED this computer and LOVE XP. Took it to Max, who not only replaced hard-​drive, lost programs/​files AND Win XP, but then he added ANOTHER hard drive that runs on Win7 – 2 hard drives in one laptop, with über memory in each. Runs super fast and great. One of my newest Dell laptops died while Max was out of town. One of the other techs at Royal fixed it beautifully. So, in a business that COMPLETELY relies on its computers, we rely on ROYAL computers to get the job done quickly, right the first time, and for a really reasonable price. I trust ‘em completely and HIGHLY recommend them!

5 Star Treatment & Service! I brought my laptop in after it was compromised by the internet at my hotel. They were able to clean my files and clean my hard drive. They were quick and very professional, I couldn’t have asked for more. I have referred several of my friends along with other piers. If you need assistance don’t look any further — they are the best and it’s very seldom you find service like theirs in the desert.

I replied to your gracious response Mark H, but 3 days after you wrote it. That’s when I saw it and had time. However, after writing a response, which I feel you deserved, and posting it, I now see that Unilocal decreed you could no longer receive a reply from me.
I guess 3 days is too long in their instant communication cyber world… I don’t think 3 days between for a thought out reply is too long, and I feel very badly that you will not be able to read it. Jeez Unilocal… It’s not like people don’t work and have life maintenance to handle daily…3 days and you cut the man off from hearing back from me…
Hope I’ll get to send you the reply written w specifics to exchange one to one as intended. If not, I’ll mail it to the shop the old fashioned way perhaps. If it does not get through the mail system in under 3 days, I wonder if the mail man will rescind your right to receive it…

I love Royal Computers! The staff is wonderful. They are extremely knowledgeable and their prices are reasonable. I won’t go anywhere else.

Very nice work, they take all bad software and ADs from my computer then speed up internet, I cant believe all junk in my PC. Also They recommended some tips to use safety Internet. They diagnostic for free (if I didn’t approve for the repair, they estimate the options for free). Good service and fast, great communication. And price is fair for the work. For sure I be back for other check on my computer.

You never know how much you depend on your computer until it doesn’t work anymore. I must say that Royal computer has more than once saved my life (or career maybe more appropriate!) It just so happened that my Dell Inspiron 810 Lap Top that I had for years started making noise, when I was on a business trip to Palm Springs. I took it in for a diagnostic test to Royal and they were able to help me out by repairing the hard drive and keeping the system running. It was a good thing too as I didn’t have the system backed up and they were able to do that. The next time, a similar story happened, but this time, I had a presentation due and the system just crashed and was not able to be revived. What did the fabulous Debbie at Royal do? She lend me a computer to use for the day and bring back when I was finished– she had my lap top looked at — an found it to be unrepairable this time… and didn’t want to charge me for any of her help. I couldn’t believe what a good Samaritan she turned out to be. Of course, I couldn’t accept and since I needed a lap top, I bought the one that she loaned to me.
Everyone at this store has been great to work with, the intelligent owner Max and excellent repairman Hector are very knowledgeable and willing to help. But Debbie, the manager, is the real heart behind the operation and also offers the best customer service in the world. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending them and will only have my computers serviced from Royal.

I took my ancient desktop tower in to wipe the hard drive of viruses, back up the files, etc. In the end they «upgraded» the operating system. I don’t know why the techs would do this. Ultimately it ended up making my computer slower. Sure, an OS upgrade is fantastic, but obviously my ancient desktop is too old to handle/​process it.
Fellow Unilocalers, there’s probably better help elsewhere. Hopefully the techs there don’t harm your devices if you risk letting them handle it.

I took my desktop for a diagnosis and within 1 day, these folks had an answer to my blue screen (among other) problems. The diagnosis was FREEEEE. I decided to have them repair the compuker (sic). One day later, the job was complete. The price was more than reasonable.
Oh, I almost forgot. I bought a wireless mouse from them and it didn’t work. I returned it and Debbie, the manager, shook it, told me what was wrong. Returned my money. No hassle here, Just great service. Kudos to Matt, Hector (the techs) and Debbie.

Took my GPS system for an upgrade of maps… excellent and cheap. Thanks
