Palm Springs Rendezvous is the premier bed & breakfast in Palm Springs that was recently rated the #1 Small Hotel in the United States! This retro boutique hotel has 10 rooms, each with its own unique theme and appointed with vintage décor. A full, three-course breakfast is prepared fresh every morning and served to each guest in the lounge along with freshly ground coffee, fruit smoothies, fresh fruit and home cooked specialties. Free happy hour cocktails and appetizers are served every evening by the pool along with free bike rentals, fresh baked cookies and spa massage services.

History

Established in 1938.

Originally built in the 1930’s and later expanded to the current footprint in the 1950’s. The architecture is typical of Palm Springs and it has the unique feature of a Bermuda style roof around a quadrangle courtyard. The Mira Loma was established in 1938 and was a relaxing hideaway for such notable guests as Marilyn Monroe, Veronica Lake, Gloria Swanson and Hugh O’Brien. Various stories exist about Marilyn’s favorite room — Pretty in Pink. The area where the hotel is situated is «uptown» Palm Springs and is very close to the Racquet Club where many celebs used to stay and party in it’s hey day.

Over the years, each new owner brought their own flair to the property, and in 1999 the name was changed to Ballantines. After a 9 month renovation, the property reopened in 2008 as Rendezvous. While the property retained its 1950’s feel many modern conveniences were added such as the new commercial kitchen which allows us to provide our famous breakfast and our cocktail and appetizer hour.

Manager

Robert Aikens is an award winning bookseller who owned & operated bookstore cafes from coast to coast for nearly 30 years. Most notably The Book Rack In Burlington, VT, Verbatim Booksellers in Vail, CO, Explore Booksellers in Aspen, CO and Fahrenheit 451 in Laguna Beach, CA. Over the years Robert would visit the Palm Springs area and in 2010, moved here permanently. For several years he was the concierge at the Palm Springs Riviera & The Parker Palm Springs where he learned more about the hospitality industry and the Palm Springs area. From restaurants to golf & tennis clubs to the many tours offered in the area just ask Robert for his advice. In 2014 Robert took over management of Palm Springs Rendezvous and says it is the best decision he has ever made. The ever quaint 1950’s bed & breakfast is just the right size to give the personal one on one service he has learned to give. With an amazing staff Palm Springs Rendezvous continues to be one of the top small hotels in the country.

Loveddddd my stay here! Such a great deal, too, for June. Buy 2 nights, get the 3^rd night free. We stayed in the Blue Hawaii room which was really cute. My only complaints about the room was the bead hanger that was hanging in front of the bathroom (kind of annoying having to go in and out through that all the time) and the shower head, which had an odd placement right in front of the door, and took quite awhile to warm up.
I loved that the stay came with a sit down breakfast for everyday we were there. This usually consisted of coffee (they served their really good local coffee from koffi), freshly squeezed OJ, ice water, a smoothie topped with some whipped cream, bowl of fruit, and a main course. We had breakfast burritos, French toast, and quiche while we were there.
And then how fun is it that what you paid for also comes with happy hour by the pool at 5pm everyday you’re there! You usually get 2 drinks and an appetizer plate. We had a Mai tai, margarita, this blue raspberry drink, bruschetta, wings, and meatballs.
Also conveniently located about a block or two from the Buzz trolley. It shows up every 15 minutes and run from 11am-1am.

Where do I begin?
My boyfriend and I came here for a weekend of rest and relaxation and we got exactly that. We stayed in the Route 66 room. Spacious and comfy. Did I mention there was a jar of chocolate brownies by our bedside to welcome us? Or how about the rendezvous blue martinis and meatballs we had poolside during the 5 o’clock happy hour? Or the wonderful breakfast to start each day?
If it were up to us, we would have stayed at the hotel the whole time. but being newbies to Palm Springs we had to venture out.
Robert was such a great host, as well as the chefs extraordinaire who whipped up our breakfasts on the days we were there. They gave us suggestions of places to see, places to eat, things to do. They even called a couple of days before our actual weekend and offered to make reservations for us!
Loved this place. We will definitely be back again.

Each year for the past three years, my wife and I have traveled to Palm Springs to celebrate
our wedding anniversary (May 20^th), and on all three of those occasions, we’ve stayed at
a wonderful little place called Palm Springs Rendezvous. Every complimentary adjective you
can think of applies not only to the place itself but to its very friendly and helpful staff. Talk
about hospitality! When we go there, we are able to escape completely from the stress of
our big city lives (we’re from Houston), and Robert, the manager, along with everybody else
on the staff there, makes it easy for us to kick back, relax, and regain our sanity. We
recommend Palm Springs Rendezvous wholeheartedly!

Beautiful, mod century style bed and breakfast. Very clean, comfortable and friendly staff and service. The breakfast and snacks were so delicious and honestly staying here was a big part of why my husband and I fell in love with Palm Springs. My wife and I were a little bit hesitant as this is our first time at a «bed & breakfast». We had eloped in Beverly Hills and decided to drive south for the weekend and decided this is where we would stay! We were a bit unsure of what to expect, with nerves and all we booked 4 nights! When we arrived, it was just past midnight– way too late to formally «check-in», so the manager kindly left a detailed letter and key in the key box for us to make our way in to our bedroom. Upon arrival, all of our nerves were put to rest at ease! The room was so clean, and smelled so indescribably sweet and fresh, the bed was the softest bed I have ever felt, and there were fresh baked cookies on the night stand (perfect for our midnight arrival). I would love to write everything that I experienced in detail but feel that if you wish to stay here, I would be giving too much away. (Feel free to email for specific questions). This experience was the most memorable and enjoyable experience for us! I miss Teri and the rest of the staff as they truly made us feel as though we were staying with some old friends! We’ll be back soon!

My wife and I went back for our 1 year wedding anniversary, and I think it will continue to be a tradition for us… This place really is an escape into the 1950’s. Everything is so private, relaxing, and accommodating. We can’t wait to go back!
This time we stayed in the Silver Screen room, and it was very nice as well. I don’t think any room would disappoint! We will make it a point to stay in different ones each time we go.
I can’t recommend this place enough to couples that want to escape their busy lives for some relaxation, privacy, and alone time. Truly my favorite getaway from LA, and my number one spot in Palm Springs.

We love this little gem! We had our second stay there just last week. Robert and Brian were so welcoming and helpful. Robert got us an amazing table at a local restaurant and gave great tips on where to eat and what to do. Terry’s breakfasts were wonderful. This is our getaway on the west coast!

I am pretty damn sure we will be back. Perfect place for romantic time and personalized, perfectly attentive hospitality. The manager Robert was sweet, funny, and informative and made sure we felt right at home, right away.
We were the only couple there, which was an anomaly since this place is always booked up. We had the place to ourselves and we stayed in the Shake, Rattle and Roll room. Elvis themed, with a massage table and fireplace in addition to the Jacuzzi tub for two that most of the rooms had.
The best thing right off the bat about this place is Terri and her treat jar! She bakes these DIVINE homemade bars or brownies every single day and gives you a jar filled with them by your bedside. She’s the BEST. She also gave us a personal tour so we could see each room since we were the only quests and it’s because of this that we decided to come back and stay in the Screen Stars suitre next time. Unbelieveaby creative rooms and we loved them all.
We got to be in the outdoor Jacuzzi and enjoy the breezy weather during the evening while soaking in perfect 102 degree bubbling water. The pool is heated to 85 as well which was nice. The pool, area itself (like the rest of the hotel) is very retro — you feel like Clark Gable or Lucille Ball will step into the courtyard at any given moment. 1950’s rock and roll and standards play ²⁴⁄₇ so the experience is all your senses at once being dipped into days gone by. Loved it.
The rooms are SCRUPULOUSLY clean and the sheets on these beds are just heavenly. My boyfriend said the mattress he wasn’t crazy about… but those sheets… we seriously almost considered buying them. (They do sell them there! But at $ 143 a set we decided to wait)
We cranked down the AC and turned on the fireplace and had a romantic, relaxing stay.
Food was good in the morning — the smoothies Terri makes are amazing and happy hour cocktails were a nice added touch. Not crazy about the happy hour food, but the rest of the things this place had to offer were the reason we came here to relax, connect, and play. And that was exactly what we did.

This was an Amazing B&B in Palm Springs. The service and attention to detail was the best I’ve ever had. Robert and Teri made our stay fantastic and memorable. Teri took the time everyday to ensure our morning breakfast was to our satisfaction. Loved the homemade afternoon treats as well– Great touch! Robert went above and beyond to make our anniversary extra special. All I can say is WOW. Highly recommend this B&B if you are looking for a unique intimate location in Palm Springs, only a couple blocks from downtown. Pool and Hot Tub were great and also had massages on site. Loved the themed rooms– we were in the Honeymoon Hideaway and it was spacious and the bed was heavenly! Looking forward to coming back!

We were not disappointed and were so pleased with the charm of this B & B and the over the top hospitality of the staff. The themed guest room was cute, clean, had all the comforts of home (and more like the 2 person jetted tub), and the bed was ridiculously comfy. We loved the homemade treats so much we purchased a little bag to take home.
One tip would be to err on the side of caution and bring ear plugs just in case. The noise from traffic is out of the hands of The Rendezvous (short of replacing the mid century style glass slat windows with reg windows in guest rooms) and can be heard from the room at night. Also if people are noisy in the pool area late into the night you can hear that in your room too. Mgmt is great though about designating «quiet time» hours and doing their best to ensure that guests are respectful of this.
Overall it was a great find in Palm Springs and would stay again the next time we are in town!

Rant: I was looking for a place that offered natural hot spring. When I called in before booking to verify that, whoever was there (unfortunately forgot to take down his name) told me the pool is naturally heated which is not true. Needless to say when I got here and found out the pool was only 86 degree I was pretty upset…
However, Liz totally saved the day… When I informed that the pool was chilly, even without having to tell her that I was mislead over the phone. She agreed to turn up the pool’s temperature higher to around 90 degree right away! Floating in the heated pool during cold winter month is a simple bliss which everyone needs to try it out. It was my sole reason for come out here, and Liz granted that.
Service: Over the top. Upon entering the establishment, we were greeted promptly, and sat down while Kevin gave us a detailed walk through on what we should expect, and our surroundings such as where we should visit, etc. (Of course, also what Liz did)
Location: Good. Only a 10 mins walk to downtown Palm Spring. You can also drive to 7 Eleven, which is 1 minute away, and take the Pink Bus for free!
Room: We stayed in the Stage Coach room. Average size room, with a double Jacuzzi tub. The threading on the bed sheets were 800 ~ 1,000. Silky smooth! The PJ that was provided seemed to be the same material as the bed sheets.
Price: A-Okay. At $ 200 per night after tax that comes with 3-Course Breakfast, with free appetizer definitely seemed fair.
Will I come back again? Personally if I’m on a vacation I’d prefer to stay over at the city of Desert Hot Springs for the naturally heated pools. However, if ever given the chance to visit Palm Springs again Rendezvous would be my number one choice.

Perfect getaway! My husband and I had a great time!
The room was great and the hotel service was perfect. We stayed in route 66 and it gave us the perfect experience. The renovations to the hotel highlight the history and make for a romantic experience. The happy hour drinks were delish! Fireplace by the pool was a great place to hang out at night and the pool stays heated so you can hop in at anytime. Btw… did i mention the 3 course breakfast! Also delish! The staff was very attentive and nice. This trip was everything we wanted and more. Thank you! We will definitely be back.

UPDATE: So the Rendezvous got back to me very quickly, and adamantly apologized for what happened to us. They also refunded our stay and offered to pay for us to come back. I get comping us, but also to extend us a free return visit is extremely kind of them. They also seemed to seriously take to heart my comments, and genuinely want to rectify all the problems we had. They have been very prompt in all the back and forth since then. They have welcomed and even thanked us for all our feedback. Even though we had some troubles, it doesn’t change the fact that there are some great things about this place. Because they have been so nice in working to rectify this situation, I feel I should tell some of the great things about this place, that stayed true, even when we had the ruff go of it last time.
First, the cheeky nature of this place is great. We love the 50’s vibe, even though it’s totally not use. The breakfast area is quaint, and although the colors of the pool and such may seem a bit loud, they really aren’t. We always stay in the Shake Rattle n Roll room. We are not Elvis fans at all, we just like the white, spacious room with it’s fireplace and hot tub. On that note, it’s a BIG room, and that’s one of the things we like best about staying here. There is no comparison to a hotel room. There’s lots of light that comes in, but it feel completely private. I’ve never heard any noise from the other rooms or outside. Yes, you can hear cars going buy, but for us, it isn’t a noticeable thing accept for an accessional big truck rolling buy, but it never wakes us up or is a bother in any way, at least for us.
Besides the big room, it’s the feeling of privacy that really makes this place for us. It’s small, in a good way, so there’s not a lot of guests. There’s always room at the pool. There’s always a place to sit. There are no kids! We have a 4 year old and this is our place to get-a-way, so the no kid thing is very nice. It’s very close to the strip with all the restaurants and shops. Mainly we stay in our room, relax in the Jacuzzi, and bing watch tv shows. The free wifi is easy to access and has no problem streaming, btw. It’s easy to order in using DineLA. Cocktail hour is great. The staff, both old and new, are very friendly. Every guest we have ever met has been very nice. It’s just a completely different feel from a hotel. It’s mellow and friendly, easy, and relaxing.
We look forward to giving it another go, and hope that the new owners and staff have made the necessary changes so we can again give this place a 5 star rating again.

Such an awesome alternative to the typical hotel experience. Went here Thanksgiving weekend to celebrate a birthday and the service was amazing. Every employee we interacted with was a delight. The location is close enough to the nightlife where people who don’t mind walking can walk – I’d say about 15 minutes to the edge of the «happening» downtown area.
We stayed in the James Dean-themed room and it was stylish. The bed was large with decent comfort but the chairs were very comfy. I am a fairly large dude and found the bathroom a good size, but the bathtub /shower felt narrow. The breakfasts in the morning were good but I came with very high expectations because of reviews I had read. Still, in a vacuum, the breakfasts are a nice perk to include with the stay. The treats each day were delicious, and I wish I could have taken some home with me. We had lemon bars and brownies during our stay. Happy Hour each day took place at 5pm, and it involved a cheese platter and a cocktail – sign me up!
We did not opt to take advantage of the heated pool or heated jacuzzi because we were both dealing with colds, but we saw other guests enjoying themselves despite the conditions (low 40’s at night).
A word of warning – the dining area is fairly small, so you will be forced to mingle with other guests staying there if you choose a breakfast time that is popular. My wife and I tend to be shyer than most people, but we managed fine.

AMAZING!
Me and the boyfriend decided we needed a weekend away for my birthday. We looked up hotels on Unilocal and found the Palm Springs Rendezvous, the highest rated hotel we’ve seen. And after staying here for a weekend, we can see why. Checking in was very easy and very personal, which I appreciate. Robert told us about the property and all the amenities that came with our stay. It was a beautiful and quiet 10 bedroom bed and breakfast. We booked the Shake, Rattle & Roll bedroom, which is Elvis themed. King size bed, whirlpool tub (my boyfriend is very tall and fit great in it), massage table, fridge (stocked with water, soda and tea) and flat screen TV with a DVD player. Located in the dining room they have a bookshelf of games, movies and books to be borrowed during your stay.
Included with our stay was happy hour 5 – 6 daily, cocktails and snacks. The cocktails were unlimited within the hour. Made for an even more relaxing stay! Breakfast was served at two time slots, 8:30am or 10:00am. 3 course breakfast of a smoothie, fruit entrée and breakfast entrée. Our first morning we got a breakfast quesadilla and our last day a tasty quiche, which both were fresh and very tasty. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. Any questions about the area, they were willing to help! Reservations, shows or fun spots in the area.
This was the absolute perfect getaway. No kids, quiet and very relaxing. We will be staying again in the near future. Just perfect!

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA

Just stayed last Saturday night and loved it. We were very impressed. We plan on returning. So many details that make the visit memorable. I am so over staying at hotels with so many people. There are only ten rooms here so it is nice and cozy.
All the rooms face the pool and jacuzzi. It is like a flashback to the past. Each room have a different theme. We chose the Hawaiian Surf room. It was decorated so well. Don’t want to say too much because it will spoil the details and surprise.
I have mobility problems so it was especially nice having a handicapped parkingspot right near the front door of the place. Unfortunately, I forgot to put my handicap card up late Saturday night. Fortunately, someone in the hotel told me about it being missing and I quickly put it up. I think it was the first time I had ever not put the card up. So embarrassing. So relieved that someone noticed and told me about it. I cannot recall the name of the gentleman who told me, but I really appreciate him telling me.
All the rooms are on one level. The Hawaiian Surf room has a shower rather than a tub so it made it easy for me to get in and out with my arthritic knees. The pool and jacuzzi have nice railings to hold onto and steps that are easy.
We first met Liceth when we came into the office to register. She was cheerful and welcoming. She gave us a tour which we really appreciated. It was like she was sharing her own home. Such attention to detail is what I especially appreciated.
Cookies were on our night stand in a glass jar when we got into our room. A small refrigerator with sodas and bottled water. Two big fluffy cotton robes in the closet.
The bed and linens were fresh and clean. I felt like I was staying at a friend’s home.
There was a complimentary cocktail hour with appetizers but we missed it because we had a Halloween party to attend.
The breakfast was perfect for us. We had a smoothie, fresh fruit and a quiche. The coffee was excellent. There was also juice and coffee. I am not a coffee drinker, but I had some and it was excellent. The server I cannot recall her name either (sorry), but she was so helpful and cheerful.
The location is perfect for us because we visited relatives in Yucca Valley, went to restaurants and shops nearby, and visited Summerlands in Rancho Mirage.
There are massages available on site, but we had too much planned already, but would like to take advantage of them next time.
I suggest that this is a perfect place for couples. No kids or babies. I love kids and babies, don’t get me wrong, but this is not the place for them.
There is a 24-hour access to the pool and jacuzzi which is rare in any hotel or bed and breakfast we have stayed at.
The cost of staying the night was quite reasonable and there are discounts if you return. We had the October discount which made a difference too.
The history of the hotel is very interesting too. You will have to find out about that and more other details that are too numerous to put into this review. Go and enjoy. You won’t be disappointed. All and all, a great place to stay.

I hear you’re looking for the perfect place for your latest getaway, but you won’t settle for just any joint. This place has to have swag and all sorts of cherries on top.
Imagine: Rat Pack meets «Catch Me If You Can» pool party meets Mid-century modern goodness.
Freshly baked goods at your bedside, complimentary gourmet breakfast and an evening cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres, the Rendezvous leaves no detail to chance. There are even beach cruiser bicycles (and locks) for you to ride around town for no charge.
The pool is the shining gem as it serves as the watery atrium to all the rooms. My birdie and I spent the entire weekend in it and only left for more cocktails (the fridge and ice bucket were busy that weekend). We had the pleasure of staying in the Crooners suite, Frankie and the boys kept us company. The tub was massive.
If you’re looking for an immaculate, newly constructed resort, this probably isn’t your tune. She’s a true mid-century heifer, fine as wine. There’s plenty of character and the staff makes it more than comfortable.
