By FAR the best place I’ve stayed in Palm Springs, and my husband and I have been going there for years. I felt very welcome there, the hosts are wonderful, and I will be going back there from now on. It’s also about half the price of where we usually stayed. I have to say something about the negative comments. The owners live there, so if you show up at midnight I can see how they might be a bit cranky. If you have a terrible time here you might just be looking for things to complain about. Oh no! A NAKEDMAN at a CLOTHINGOPTIONAL resort? INCONCEIVABLE! Seriously, anyone who’s travelled has had to deal with beds and shower heads and god knows what else. What are the hosts supposed to do, change your mattress because you’re a Princess? I had a fantastic time staying here, and I just feel like anyone who wants to bitch about it must be the kind of person who just LOVES to whine on Unilocal

It started quite good, Ian and Stuart knew my partner and were very courteous and friendly. Then on the last day I was taking a shower and the old and cheap shower head broke off while I was trying to adjust it. No problem, they fixed it in a reasonably short amount of time. My bad review was due to the horrid mattress in my room, it was so painfully uncomfortable that I could barely sleep in it. woke up with a sore back. Normally I am not a complainer but I mentioned it to my boyfriend and things escalated when he told one of the men in charge. He acted very defensive and tried to blame me for breaking the shower head on purpose. He said that no one ever complained about their mattresses before and all they ever received were good reviews from guests on Unilocal. Long story short, my boyfriend asked for a refund and I don’t know whether he got it or not. We won’t be coming back which is too bad for all parties involved as I really liked the setting and location. The kitchenette was very handy too.

This hotel was the absolute worst. My friend and I called the hotel to inform that we were arriving close to midnight due to traffic problems driving out from LA. We were greeted however by a short rude naked english man that scolded us and did not even show the room he just pointed. Nothing that was promised work, the steam room was broken, the jacuzzi at best was luke warm and it smelled like piss. We left and after two hours and they still charged my card and froged my signature. DONOTSTAYHEREUNLESSYOURINTOFILTHANDCHEAPSERVICE. I would never recommend this hotel to even my worst enemy.

I had a great time at Chaps Inn! I met some really cool guys and enjoyed basking in the warm desert sun by the pool side, what more can one ask for? The owners are super cool. It was nice to enjoy the salt water pool and soak in the hot tub at night. The room was spacious with a kitchen and a private patio. I recommend this place.

Headed for Palm Springs? Want an OUTSTANDING place to stay? Give Ian and Stuart a call at Chaps Inn! We have been staying there for over 8 years now… and have always had outstanding experiences. Between being able to cook in many of the rooms to having enough space to spread out a Sunday newspaper to having our dog stay with us, you will find ABSOLUTELY no better place in Palm Springs. On our first visit with the dog(Thor the chocolate lab), he was given instruction on entering the grounds not to jump in the pool. Ian, who let us in, asked why… and we explained that if we give him the instruction, he has to know it’s against the rules. Ian explained it was not against the rules, took the ball Thor dropped at his feet and threw it in the pool. Thor looked at us for permission and at Ian’s prodding, we freed him to retrieve the ball. He brought the ball back and gave it to Ian, and they played fetch in the pool for 20 minutes! There is no strict check-in time at Chaps Inn. If Ian has cleaned the room you are booked into and you arrive at noon, he will hand you the keys and tell you to get comfortable. One thing we learned quickly at Chaps Inn is to book as far in advance as possible. Because the resort is small and the service so wonderful, it is not uncommon to find the resort sold out 4 and 5 months ahead of time… and for big events/weekends, a year ahead is when you want to book. BTW, when you get there, ask Ian what the secret is to getting regular work in tv and film.

This was my first time staying at this«resort» and all I have to say is bravo! The two owners(and lifemates) Stuart & Ian were just fabulous. It is a small, 10 room resort with a nice pool, hot tub, «fun» areas and spacious rooms. It is a great place if you want to hang out by the pool having drinks with other guys. This is our new place while in Palm Springs. Just a word of advice — if you are shy or a prude, this is not the place for you.
