History

Established in 2013.

The name maukamakai. me has a lot of meaning to me. Mauka meaning the upland thus having foods of the land and makai meaning the sea thus having foods of the sea. Working with and supporting local farmers, ranchers and fishermen as much as possible in order to have communities thrive. A farm to table ethic, thus cooking our food to order.

Born and raised in Kona. I have worked for Edelweiss restaurant (Hans Peter Hager), Mauna Kea beach hotel, Mauna Lani bay hotel, Orchid at Mauna Lani, Aloha luigi (Waimea and Hilo), Kona Village Resort, Merriman’s market café, Roy’s Waikoloa, Michelbook Country club (Oregon), The Sage restaurant (Oregon), Island infusion and now maukamakai. me (my very own restaurant)
