History

Established in 1989.

Established in 1989 by Tim Knapton as a part time disc jockyey business. In 1997 we became a full time business under the name «Musically Yours Entertainment». In 2007 we changed our name to «In The Mix Events» and added «In The Pix Photo Booths» to better fit the additional event services we now provide. Our Oxnard headquarters opened in March of 2012 and features a planning space, event lighting showroom and demo photo booth.

In the Mix Events truly added so much to our wedding day! People were raving about what a great job Kevin, our DJ/​emcee did all night. The planning process up until the wedding day was so helpful. Every detail was so appreciated — down to the sound equipment used during the ceremony to the music for the grand entrance to the song selections for the reception. Kevin’s music selections were also great and kept people on our dance floor all night. We will highly recommend In the Mix Events for years to come!

In The Mix got it right! We were very nervous about booking a DJ for our wedding after seeing one too many cheesy disc jockeys at the weddings of our friends. We spoke with many different DJs in the Santa Barbara area during our wedding planning, and In The Mix came out way ahead of every other vendor. In The Mix was willing to talk through our vision with us until we felt comfortable that they understood our taste and the feel that we wanted for our wedding. Kevin did an excellent job announcing us as we entered the reception and introducing our family members during toasts. He moved seamlessly from song to song, and his playlist contained the perfect combination of tunes to get everyone on the dancefloor. At the end of the night, we just wanted all of our guests to have a great time, and In The Mix made sure that happened. Thank you, Kevin and In The Mix!

In The Mix Events Inc. was contracted through a client to work the event at the Ventura Beach Marriott. From my experience as the Event Manager I can only share good stories. Their communication via phone as well as in writing was very quick and professional. I even received a follow up email after the event and I am definitely not used to that from other vendors.
Our Banquet Captain had the following to share: «They were the best all around. Cody went out of his way in helping me and offered to finish hooking up the LED lights. I would definitely recommend him with the highest recommendation.»

Loved working with In The Mix for our wedding! Brian was our DJ for the night, and he did an excellent job of keeping the party going (there is nothing worse than being at a party where no one is feeling the music). Brian and Tim were super helpful when we called and talked through our timeline, they were accommodating with our friend who played our first dance song for us and when my dad and I wanted a non-​tradtional father-​daughter dance, and in general Brian was very low key and enjoyable to work with. The little bit of rain/​sprinkles we had that night threatened to cause some troubles but Brian rolled with it and all ended well. Additionally in the mix set up our lighting and hung our papel picados with our lights, and it all looked awesome!

They just did an awesome job stringing candles for a Harry Potter Themed Mitzvah we did, and the effect was amazing as always!!! Came through in a big way! Apparently, July 18, 2015 is the beginning of the monsoon season in Santa Paula. It poured buckets on our wedding. We could have rolled it up, gone home and felt sorry for our selves. But our friends stayed. And Tim cranked the music in the rain, non-​stop. And people danced, aided by the free alcohol to be sure. Everyone said it was the greatest wedding ever! I don’t know if that’s really true, but it’s was probably the most memorable. Tim is a real professional. At no point did he give me the impression that he was upset about working in those conditions, but he certainly had a right to be. I can not thank him enough. You could not ask for more from you DJ and lighting guy. Book with In the Mix Events.

Tim and his professional crew were phenomenal! We bought a package that included both an MC & a DJ and it was the best decision. Our DJ Bryan McQueen managed the entertainment for the entire reception, making sure our guests were having fun at all times, that everything went smoothly like planned, the timing stayed on track and honestly it felt like a true show for us. The team was very creative, coming up with unique game ideas, different musical arrangements with our DJ Scott and special touches everywhere. Bryan even orchestrated teaching everyone Thriller throughout the evening so we could all participate in the dance together. Their attention to detail, including the high-​quality Bose sound system, the personalized monogram and gorgeous uplighting, made our reception a truly magical place. Thank you Tim, Bryan & Scott for creating wonderful memories for our special day!

In the Pix provided a photo booth for our New Year’s Eve party. From start to finish, they are just wonderful to work with! Renee was so helpful in helping us plan the booth time and the graphic for it. The attendant they sent was so professional, energetic and fun throughout the party. Tim was the MC/​DJ/​light guru at our wedding two weeks ago, and he was AMAZING!
In The Mix Events has different packages available for different budgets, and Tim talked with us ahead of time to determine our needs. He was also very easy to reach when we had questions prior to the wedding.
The sound was great at both the cocktail/​ceremony site and the reception site. The bistro lights set the mood for the night just the way we wanted. The dance music was spot-​on. The photo booth was a big hit. (We have the thumb drive of those photos and the photo guest book to prove it!) Tim guided our guests through the night with grace and humor, even when we were running behind schedule.
I highly recommend In The Mix Events, and I’d give Tim six stars if I could!
