Established in 1978.

In 1978, Shaner Appraisals was founded with a mission of serving Kansas City’s real estate appraisal needs. Through a commitment to exceptional customer service, the firm has experienced 30 years of continuous growth. Along the way, they have earned the trust of countless clients while acquiring a keen perspective on the local real estate market.

Today, President Laird Goldsborough leads Shaner’s professional staff of 15 appraisers with over 100 years of combined real estate valuation and consulting experience. Every appraisal is completed or reviewed by an MAI designated appraiser, so you can be sure you’re benefiting fully from Shaner’s industry expertise and local market perspective.

Laird Goldsborough G.

Business Owner

Laird Goldsborough is President of Shaner Appraisals, and has been with the firm since 1990. He specializes in the valuation of conservation easements, significant commercial properties and real estate litigation support. He has qualified as an expert witness in several states and is a licensed real estate agent in Kansas.

Goldsborough holds the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute, and he is a Certified General Real Property Appraiser in Kansas and Missouri. Goldsborough is Past President of the Kansas City chapter of the Appraisal Institute, a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, and a graduate of Leadership Overland Park. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Virginia and a Master’s Degree in real estate and construction management from the University of Denver.
