Garry Gribble’s Running Sports

I bought a pair of running shoes in January from this place, and around May the sole started to separate from 1 of the shoes. I thought I was out of luck and went to the store and showed them the issue to see if they would help me out. I had no receipt and no box. They took the time to look up my purchase, and applied the refund to the replacements I got. I’d been running dirt trails so they weren’t even in clean condition! It was a completely no-​fuss transaction.
If you are a runner and needing new shoes and you’ve never been to this store, stop by and see their selection. They even have a treadmill where you can run in a pair of shoes your interested in to see what you think!
Every member of staff that I’ve ever talked to is very friendly and knowledgeable, and I’ve been buying shoes there for 10 years!

The love of my life and I both needed some new, daily-​use shoes, so we decided to take advantage of the well-​reputed staff at GG’s to help guide us to the best shoes for each of us.
Lucky for us, this location is very near home, and on an early Spring Saturday afternoon, they weren’t too busy. We were helped within a couple minutes of arriving at the store.
This was my first visit to the store, and I had no idea that they sold more than just shoes. The place is chock-​full of athletic apparel, mostly of the running sort. That said, I was actually a bit let down at the lack of shoe selection here. I expected to walk in and see running-​shoe heaven with trumpets blaring loud, but there was only one wall of shoes. Not even the long wall.
The aforementioned tarsal specialist evaluated something about how we both walked — gait? Maybe stride? Maybe both? — and made conclusions that we both were «neutral» of some sort. I guess that’s a good thing?
We both ended up in great-​fitting shoes that were nothing like what we were aiming for on the «form» side of the equation, and when we inquired as to ulterior color/​design selection, we were both denied. Our consultant made it sound as if the selection was actually quite limited of each «model» of shoe, which later internet research showed to be an issue with GG’s purchasing/​stocking, not the shoe manufacturer’s options itself.
Prices were in line with exactly what each manufacturer’s website posted. So, nothing to write home about on the pricing front…
After semi-​reluctantly purchasing both pairs, we both found the same (or very similar) shoes on competitor’s websites for cheaper cost. That said, we will likely be returning both pairs of shoes out of dissatisfaction with the selection and cost at the store.
The last thing I’ll note is that our shoe adviser was either having a really rough day, or just flat-​out didn’t care to be there at that very moment. No smiles, all mope. You expect more when you’re purchasing $ 250 worth of just about anything…
Aside from the human element of someone knowledgeably assisting us in finding the right size and brand for our feet, our overall experience here was left majorly lacking. Many other stores have better selection and more enthusiastic employees trying to compete hard against the selection and pricing of online retailers. We will likely not be returning to this location any time soon, if either store at all.

I stopped in while visiting from out of town and was impressed with this store. As soon as I walked in there were sale tables set up with great shoes at a great price. I’m a huge Brooks fan and they had the men’s and women’s retro releases for a great price plus some great running and active shoes. I left with a pair of amazingly priced retro styled Nike’s and a Gary Gribble’s sweatshirt. I plan on coming back every time I’m in town for a new piece of running gear. I don’t want to forget to mention how friendly and knowledgable the staff were. I’ve been to running shops in many cities (big and small) and even though I’m a runner, I often times feel the employees to he sort of pretentious. These guys were the complete opposite! I’ll definitely be back in March when I need to replace my Brooks Ghost 8’s!

Absolutely awful experience with this store. The clerk told me I was having a bad day. Had to wait several minutes for a refund because the clerk wanted to argue. Terrible, terrible, terrible service. Don’t go here! Go anywhere but here!

Need to update for my recent shoe purchase at Gary Gribble’s. Wow… what a great experience! I cannot say enough good things about this store, but will try to.
I was greeted immediately and peeked around the large, but not huge, shoe selection. After basically saying «not quite sure what I want», they watched my walk to assess ankle turn and arch height. With that, they recommended stability shoes, which is something I’ve never had before (because I have not bought shoes from a proper running store. Because I’m a moron).
The associate brought out four different shoes and had me try on each, walk around, even walk outside on the sidewalk. The first and fourth shoes were best, so I tried each one again before finally deciding on the final pair, made my Brooks. They were $ 110, a fair price, and were also 25% during their January promotion. Excellent!
Their return policy, as noted earlier, is a bit different. You have a decent amount of time to return them, but only if they haven’t been used outside. Around the house? No problem. Treadmill? No problem. But running outside = no returns. And by returns, it’s not a refund but rather an in-​store credit. This seems fair to me. To be safe, the associate wrote down the other pair of shoes I liked just in case I decided to return the Brooks shoes. However, since I absolutely refuse to run indoors at all costs, I won’t be returning those shoes. Not that I am worried…

Ok, so I wrote a review on this place based on the experience I had in the store… this review is now on my respect of the knowledge of my sales associate I had.
I’ve been working out consistantly since Oct. 2012… my workouts sometimes last 2 hours if I do say Zumba and Bodypump… usually half my feet go numb or 3 toes or something that doesn’t sound and/​or feel right. since I bought my new shoes that I got fitted for I worked out and put more into my workout because half my foot wasn’t numb!!! Great job to the sales girl that fitted me. i appreciate it.

Went on a Sunday around 4pm (They close at 5pm), a little busy having to wait 5 minutes to get an employee, but were very helpful when I did. The gentleman seemed pretty knowledgeable, gave me a fitting, and brought out a few pairs of shoes for me to try on. After I decided on a pair I asked him the differences between them and he went over the different types of cushioning in each. I would have guessed that would be something you’d just let people know.
Towards the end I felt like I had overstayed my welcome. It was after close, (I wasn’t the last customer though) and he had left me alone like he didn’t care if I had bought the shoes or not at this point. (Too long to think he was giving me more time to decide and I had boxed all the shoes up at this point) When approached he asked if I was finished and instead of asking any more questions about some of their other products I just agreed to pay for my purchase.
If not for that, it would be a 5. There is a good chance they’ll get a 5 on the next visit.

I have gone to Gribble’s a couple of times. Once to get a pair of running shoes. They did a good job fitting me for new shoes and had reasonable prices (on shoes).
I bruised my instep a short while after and went there for help in finding a support that would help me heal. They didn’t have anything that would support that part of my foot so I left empty handed.
I went there to buy a GPS/​Heart rate monitor to track my running progress and the sales guy «sold» me on the Motoactv. He told me it was the best new running tool and it came with a free update that would install the golf edition. I brought it home and updated it but the update didn’t install the golf feature. He then told me the update was no longer available and I would have to buy the golf edition (more expensive) to get the feature. Luckily we agreed that they should pay the difference because of the guarantee he gave me. I walked away happy
I bought the heart rate monitor separately and it malfunctioned and Motorola is out of stock of replacements. I went back to Gribble’s to buy another heart rate monitor. They informed me they don’t sell HRM’s compatible to my device (like they said they did when I bought it). Pretty much said — you are SOL and we don’t want to help you. They even stopped talking to me, mid discussion, to help another customer who walked up and never helped me find something that would work. I also found out they don’t sell the device i bought anymore.
Overall not satisfied with the customer service I received. Id probably stop shopping there but its the only «running» store in the area.

The staff at Gary Gribble’s is extremely knowledgeable and spends time with each person who walks through the door to help them find the shoe that will keep them running in comfort.
This particular store has grown in overall inventory since I first visited years ago and now is the best place to stock up on all running gear from shoes to winter tights. Their prices are a bit high in some areas, but I believe you can’t go wrong with them for finding the proper shoe.

I recently booked a trip a few months out that will require me to be on a beach and therefore, half naked. So, I thought I’d whip my ass into shape and in doing so, I needed some new kicks. I started at Dick’s, but nobody wants to help you there. Then I went to the New Balance Store. I tried on a few pairs of shoes, none of them seemed to be a good fit. So, off to GG’s to see if they could help me.
As soon as I walked in the door, a woman greeted me with a smile and enthusiastic attitude. She asked precisely what I was looking for in a shoe and what I’d be doing with that shoe. I rolled my jeans up, had her watch me walk, then she measured me and grabbed a few pairs. Wow, she was right on the money, each pair fit great and I had no problem picking which one I liked best.
If you are in need of shoes to get in shape, look no further, this is the spot!

These guys know there stuff. The shoes I purchase from them actually last longer and they have good prices.

I sort of expected their shoes to be crazy expensive, but they just weren’t. They have expensive shoes, but that’s not all they have. I walked out with a new pair of Nike running shoes that were on sale for $ 65. The other pair I almost bought was a pair of Brooks for $ 100. The only reason I picked the Nike’s was the look… And I picked them before I saw the price.
I don’t know why I’d go to another Foot Locker type place again when Garry Gribbles has more than enough selection of running and walking shoes and employees that know how to correctly fit your foot. When was the last time you were at a Foot Locker or Dicks Sporting Goods and the salesman actually looked at your feet and inspected the wear patterns in the tread of your old shoes to determine which shoes to bring you to try on?
I even looked online once I got home with my new shoes, and I couldn’t have bought them cheaper online than what I paid in the store. I’m definitely happy!

What a great place. There are four or five locations around, but this is the one I frequent. They have a large supply of shoes and supplies and are very informative. They are very patient and will help you find the best shoe for your lifestyle and feet!
They are very knowledgable on the things they stock, not just shoes, and are always full of useful information. I love that they have shoes, clothes, energy drinks and bars, camel packs and other gear. I could spend far too much money at one time in there.
I recently took up barefoot running and went in last week to try out the vibram five finger shoes. The salesman was VERY patient with me while I had to experiment to find the right size for my foot, as well as the style I liked. He also porperly informed me about how I need to work my way up little by little to barefoot walking, as well as the need for mid or forefoot striking. I already knew that and have been doing it, but was very glad that theyare caring for the health of others.
Both my husband and I have gotten multiple pairs of shoes there over the years, as well as dry fit gear, watches, and other accessories. They have always been very supportive and helpful, and will point you in the right direction when you have questions.
Now I just need to save up some money for all the vibram shoes I want to get!

Helpful staff, they are experienced runners. They will fit you for your type of foot strike (pronation, supenation, neutral). Sure the shoes are little overpriced but the cost of the foot tests are rolled into the cost of the shoe. They will spend as much time as needed to help you find the right shoe fit; unlike several shoe stores who will just sell you a shoe because it looks good on you. These guys take their jobs to help fit you very seriously.

Simply the best.

I recently wanted to start working out to move into running, and I visited Gribble’s with a friend of mine. I had been having some knee pain from walking on concrete sidewalks, and hoped that new GOOD shoes would alleviate that.
The associates take as much time and as many shoes as you need to find the right one for you. Despite the rumor that I have ‘two left feet’, I can assure that I do not… my feet appeared to be as normal as anyone else’s in the store. ;) I tried on probably 5 pairs of shoes before finding the ones that I thought would be best. She let me walk out front under the awning, as well as around the store as long as I needed to. When I commented about one foot issue I was having previous to visiting the store, she re-​laced my new shoes for me to help alleviate that (and it’s worked!).
Besides shoes, they have running gear of all sorts available. There is also a corner of the store that has a lot of running information, from area running clubs, to races held throughout the year for walkers and runners of all skill levels.
It is expensive, but no more than the MSRP of the shoes (or is MSRP just for cars? Anyway…).
I’ll be going back for my next pair!

Pretty good selection of shoes, however I find the clothing to be horribly overpriced.
If you are looking into getting into running, this is a great place to get advice on equipment. I wouldn’t go further than buying shoes here since you can get a good bit of the items here at Dick’s Sporting Goods and other stores for cheaper.
