Brayton Bed and Breakfast is a lodging facility specializing in the guest experience. Staying in a bed and breakfast is a social experience that you will not find at a hotel. Not only do we offer a full breakfast each morning, desserts each evening and a wine and cheese on the weekend, but its also a place where guests turn into friend.

History

Established in 2006.

Our cream city brick Italianate home was built in 1867 by a lumbar baron by the name of John Rich. In the 1930’s a woman by the Hannah Belle Goodwin purchased the home and added the back half of the home, moved the stairs and added two porches. She had turned the home into a 10 bedroom boarding house. The home was later sold in the 1970’s to a group called Casa Cara who ran the home as a group home. We purchased our home from Casa Cara in 2004. After almost two years we opened ou doors to now what is Brayton Bed and Breakfast.

I went to school for hotel and restaurant management. After working in the restaurant field for several years, I got burnt out after having a family and not being able to be home nights and weekends as often as I would have liked. After deciding that a 9 – 5 job would be great, I got bored quickly and was looking to make another change. When ready to leave I was asked to work in the sales field for a national company. I loved my job but traveled a lot for work. While remodeling our second home, I expressed to my husband that I would like to open a bed and breakfast. Oshkosh did not have one at the time, both my husband and I appreciated older architecture and we enjoyed remodeling homes together. We sought out to find the perfect property. Six months after we opened, I was able to quit my job and run Brayton Bed and Breakfast full time for the last 8 years.
