Handyman Connection

We just completed a two week job that included painting, drywall, popcorn ceiling removal, door casings and bathroom floor tile installation. Kathy is a delight to work with and Robert is a skilled, hardworking, trustworthy craftsman. The quality of the work is excellent and the job was completed on time and on budget. I think that’s about as good as it gets.

This is the second time I have used Handyman Connection. I have been happy with both jobs. My most recent request was to have a vinyl fence built around my pool equipment. Robert K., the designated handyman, did a phenomenal job, was very professional, and definitely an expert in his craft. In addition to constructing a superior fence/​gate, he left the area cleaner than it was when he arrived! His attention to detail and craftmanship is extraordinary. I will definitely be calling upon Handyman Connection for my next project.

We called every handyman in the area looking for a quick fix since Friday is our busiest night in the restaurant industry. Happy to have found Handyman Connection because they answered our distress call right away.
We had a problem with one of the automatic hand sinks in the restroom for the past couple of days. Everyone we called said they were too busy or didn’t want to take on the job. They came and took apart the faucet and found out that we would need a whole new faucet because the sensors had fried. My boss is pretty particular about what goes into the restaurant. I would say Handyman Connection nailed it right on the dot and got our concept. He was able to find a faucet that suited the restaurant. He gave us insight on which faucets were durable but also affordable.
Our handyman was very personable and professional. They didn’t try to gauge us and what should have been a $ 300 job was around $ 100. We loved their work so much that my boss is trying to find other things that need attention. We are happy to continue doing business with a company that cares and understands that things happen unexpectedly. Thank you Handyman Connection!

I called and spoke to Kathy, Operations Manager about my need for a VERY small grout job in my master bath (2 corners). Also, I asked to have a large picture hung and told her it would take two people.
My appointment was changed without a phone call, just an email giving me the time
Kathy would not give me even a ballpark estimate
The man showed up alone and would not be able to hang my picture
When I asked him for the estimate he said the «standard for Handyman is $ 95.00 minimum for any job» so my little grout job was going to be $ 95.00!
Obviously this company is gouging the public and with holding pricing.
I just found another company who are UP FRONT WITH PRICING AND HONEST ABOUT WHAT THEY CAN AND CANNOT DO… AND THEY ARE $ 50.00 LESS AS A ‘MINIMUM’.

I contacted the Handyman Connection in Orange and have to say I was very pleased with their work and have to say that they are sincerely interested in making sure the job is done right.
I recently hired them to install a heating unit and exhaust fan in my bathroom. John did a very professional job at the installation and venting of the unit. In fact, I recently had a home inspection done and the inspector, after coming out of the attic, commented that the fan was installed and vented in an expert manner.
I also hired the Handyman Connection in Orange to repair a troubling leak in one of those insidious «water saving» toilets I purchased about 8 years ago. I was quoted what I felt was a fair price for the estimate of the repair. However, after a bit of work on the toilet it became apparent that finding the leak was going to be more troublesome than they anticipated before the work began. In spite of that, the Handyman Connection never increased their quoted price to me. At first it was thought that the valves to the pressure tank were leaking. After taking the unit apart, John took the unit down to the manufacturer in Irvine to seek assistance in fixing the issue. He returned the next day with new valves and lines that were installed free of charge by the manufacturer. When that did not completely fix the problem the Handyman Connection took the pressure tank to a plumbing supply facility and got a new pressure tank for me at cost. That fixed the problem with much of the leaking but after a week I noticed the toilet was again leaking a small amount of water. I called the Handyman Connection and Rich immediately came out to investigate. After further investigation it was revealed that the bowl had a hairline crack causing some water to slowly leak out every time the toilet was flushed. Rich was able to go on line from his phone to the original manufacturer of the porcelain bowl and they shipped out a brand new bowl to me from the east coast free of charge. Once the bowl arrived, Rich promptly came back to my house and installed the new bowl and he even disposed of the old cracked one. Again, in spite of all of this work to fix this toilet, the original quote for the repair was never increased. After all of that effort, Rich even repaired some shower caulking for me free of charge.
I would recommend the Handyman Connection of Orange to anyone needing home repairs. They are prompt, they are honest and they are good for their word. Also Kathy who handles the phone is a delight to work with. One final note, for all of you neat nicks out there, the work is done neatly and cleanly. I have white carpets and the guys were good enough to remove shoes when entering the house. Not many guys are aware enough to do that without asking. Need I say more?

I was thrilled with the service I received here, maybe because we are conditioned to expect the worst. Ted is a great asset to this company. He came and took a look at a couple of minor home repair projects including fixing a bed frame and repairing a sticking door. He arrived on time was extremely professional and straight forward in setting my expectations. I felt his quote was fair and he returned two days later to do the work. The job took him a few hours and I was thrilled with the results. I would definitely use these guys again.

I contacted Handyman Connection and am VERY pleased at how professional, and well-​trained the person (Ted) was, who came to the house.
We had been struggling with an electronic device and were to just toss the thing out, when Ted came by, showed me how it worked, and made it usable!
I will continue to use Handyman Connection for our electronics needs… and other projects that come up.

I would like to update my review on the Handyman Connection. My initial review was based on my experience with the business when trying to hire them for work on my house. In the event this new review deletes my old one, I will include it at the end of this update as a warning to consumers.
This updated review is a result of the correspondence I have received from the Owner, Rich since my review. After seeing my Unilocal review, Rich contacted my father (had nothing to do with the transaction and lives out of state) to have HIM ask me to remove my review. Rich never contacted me. My father’s reaction to the service I received was the same as mine and he informed Rich not to contact him further. He also directed him to contact me and speak with me directly… to date, I have not received a call from Rich.
Instead, I received a Unilocal message on Christmas Eve (nearly 7 weeks after the incident and completely inappropriate timing) that was simply an effort to save his reputation, instead of to rectify the situation AND he even had the nerve to ask me to «dust off my Christmas spirit» and remove the review. As a person who is extremely charitable and organized various fundraising events this holiday season, I found that to be rather insulting.
At this point, this situation has escalated to a point that is absolutely ridiculous and although the Owner feels his rant about expenses and defending his business will serve to his benefit, it only further proves my point. All he had to do was call me back after the terrible service I received and apologize and the review would have been removed. To date, I have not been contacted personally by him or anyone else at the company.
In a time where social media serves as a primary way for consumers to review businesses (both positively and negatively), perhaps, this company should keep that in mind before overcharging and mistreating their customers. I too, run my own business and am extremely mindful of this when conducting business. In fact, if they offered outstanding customer service, they would increase their business… there’s a thought! Instead, out of their 4 reviews, 3 of them are ONE STAR.

«If I could rate this company less than 1 star, I would. Beyond having outrageous rates, their customer service is absolutely the worst I’ve ever experienced. I had a pleasant experience scheduling an appointment, however, the customer service ended there. The day of my appointment, nobody showed up and when we called to ask if the handyman was on his way, we were given attitude and told someone would be there within the hour. After arriving over two hours later (and a call asking for directions), we were quoted nearly four times the amount we were quoted by other contractors. I called to speak with the owner to perhaps work out a better price and the receptionist, Kathy, was extremely rude and unprofessional. After being on hold for over 7 minutes, the owner Rich finally got on the phone and basically said that his employees were right and that he didn’t feel Kathy was rude at all and basically called me a liar. I gave him numerous opportunities during the call to earn my business back and he failed to do so. I would never hire this dishonest and unprofessional business!»

This is a rebuttal to my previous post. Rich, Linda and Kathy were so gracious in apologizing for a misunderstanding. Rich was able to come out and provide an estimate (and was actually early which was fine by me) I’m a long time customer and they have all restored my faith with them. Good work everyone!

I actually had service performed back in January 2012 (late review). I was starting a new job; working from home. I just had my office furniture delivered and I needed holes drilled and grommets installed for my lamp and computer cords. I also needed a computer keyboard rest installed under the desk. I had made an appointment but when that day came, no one showed up at the promised time. When I called the office, I was told that the appointment never showed up on their calendar. Because I needed everything done before I started my new job, the guy I talked to on the phone said that he would personally come out and do the job that day. He purchased the grommets for me and did an extremely accurate hole placement and installation. He made minimal mess (considering hole drilling and flying sawdust) and completely cleaned up after himself. After 4 months later, everything is still perfect. A scheduling mistake that was handled professionally and in a timely manner.

Handyman Connection has come to our rescue twice in the past two years and we have been very happy with their work. The company is prompt, professional and very thorough in finding the perfect handyman for the job. We have definitely recommended the company to others and we will continue to use Handyman Connection for future work/​repairs, etc., in our home. Thank you! — You’re doing a great job! Suzanne S.

Several years ago I hired this company to do some drywall work. The first guy they sent out worked for only a few hours and then left because the battery to his drill ran out and he didn’t have an extra. He came back the next day and finished very poorly. When I said his price was high, he bragged that he was a licensed contractor.
The shoddy job did not dry properly, and Handyman Connection did send another man to fix the work. The first guy’s excuse was that” he didn’t think the seams would show.” The second guy fixed the work, but stepped on my gas range to do the repair. His foot slipped and he broke the thermostat to the gas range and bent the oven door handle. Handyman Connection probably lost money on the job, because they had to pay to repair my gas range. I will never use them again because I can’t rely on the workers they send out.
Everything I wrote above is true. They did remedy the problem, as I stated, but sending 2 incompetent persons in a row is not good business. Someone called me recently, but did not state what it was about. I assumed it was a call to solicit business and told them I did not want to do business with them. The comment below is very misleading.
