Thought it would be a Mexican/Japanese fusion but not really. They just have rolls but none of them look appetizing. I’ve had the Campechana and there was only one oyster in it. My friend went and ordered it next time I went and he had two oysters. The seafood is fresh and flavor is decent, but my friend said it is definitely better elsewhere. I also tried the oysters on half shell topped w ceviche and again it was just decent in flavor. No alcohol served here. Service is severely lacking. Must be a family business bc I’ve seen a little kid running around, a man sleeping behind the counter and I was seated at a table for nearly ten minutes before the lady looked up from her phone and realized she had customers. It takes them a while to check if you need anything or even close the check.

First let me say that there is no alcohol served here. I repeat, no alcohol. I am writing this from a booth in the restaurant. Sweating because their air conditioner does not keep this small restaurant cool. I had the scallop ceviche in salsa negra and the agua chile roll my dad had Tierra y mar taco and the Marlin tacos. Tacos were good because they reminded me and my dad of corn tortilla quesadillas, lots of cheese(unexpected in a seafood taco though). Nice quality seafood products. The salsa negra was the biggest letdown, it was used in both the ceviche I had and the sushi. It was overly lemony(which I usually love) but this overpowered the flavor of anything it touched. If the waitstaff gets some hospitality training and this place gets a liquor license I’m sure it will do well for locals but I would not suggest going out of your way to try as I did.

Delicious food and incredibly service. I don’t care too much about the sushi part and would lie if I based my review on their sushi rolls as I’m not too familiar with«sushi cuisine». However, their homemade Mexican style food is delicious. Their drinks are really good. Their service is clearly good. I’ve been here three times and have always been received with a smile and attended at all times. Definitely recommend this place. At least it’s worth the shot.

Do not come here ! Worst customer service ever ! The waitress never checked up on us didn’t even bother to give us silverware, no napkins no thing ! There’s better places that offer the same type of food with great customer service ! Not to mention this place does not sell alcohol !! What kind of mariscos place is this?

1 star because I need to add a review. WORSTROLLS I’VEEVEREATEN! The rolls and sushi in the pictures look amazing but the taste is so awful. I am not sure how the rest of the food is. My husband and I ordered the Chon Roll and the Fried Chicken Roll; both equally disgusting. The service is not good at all. We had to flag down a waitress for a refill. Won’t be coming back.

Ive been here several times now and I have had the same experience every time. The food is good. I always get the imperial roll and it is truly my favorite. You get full off one roll! The presentation of sushi is nice too! The only thing that is disappointing is the service. It seems like during the day the owner is always the server. She is a very nice lady, but she talks too much to customers for being a server and makes the service is slow. There are also times where she has her younger kids there and it looks unprofessional to have a toddler coming in and out of the kitchen and having her 16 year old daughter interrupt her while shes trying to take an order. My last visit was last Friday and it took almost 2 hours to get 4 rolls of sushi and there were only 4 tables in the restaurant. We sat around 20 minutes before having anyone bring us menus and take our drink orders. We got our drinks 15 minutes later and our sushi 30 minutes later. It took another 20 minutes after we ate to track down our bill. I think they need to invest in hiring more staff. It will improve their customers experience.

What a disaster. I came here with my family and our experience was anything but good. They didn’t bring out half of our food and they almost tried to have my brother pay for what he didn’t receive. I’m not sure if they’re understaffed or just don’t know how to communicate well with the cooks. I saw several groups of people walk out, they weren’t being attended. There’s an older woman who hustles and perhaps the younger waitresses can learn from her. The drive out to this place was not worth it.

Sushi and seafood Sinaloan style *Coconut Horchata-$ 3.5: homemade and good. It was light and with lots of coconut flavor and even a bit of coconut flakes. *Oysters on half shell-6 for $ 8.5: big and juicy but not sweet. Wish they were more chilled. *Sushi roll-$ 13: As other Unilocalers indicated, most rolls are spicy, filled with cream cheese or topped with sauce. We tried the baked Montana roll(asked for mild and no Sriracha sauce) and it wasn’t bad but I barely tasted the thin slice of salmon on top. The rice was soft to my surprise but the amount of cream cheese definitely overpowered the taste of the roll. *Traditional fish ceviche– $ 5: Good flavor but again, could barely taste the fish. Unlike the Peruvian ceviches that are chunky and mostly white(cooked with lime), this one had more of a tomato taste/reddish color. The fish is chopped in very small pieces along with tomatoes, onions, cucumbers and cilantro. They also have ceviches with a black sauce that are more spicy. *Tacos-$ 3.5 each: I liked that the tortilla was grilled but one tasted rather burnt. We tried taco«al gobernador» which had shrimp and cheese and it was good. The«mar y tierra» one had beef and shrimp. Service was fine and the restaurant is off of Chapman with its own parking lot in the back. They were playing Mexican rancheras, a bit loud, so not the place to have a conversation. Not a bad place to taste some sushi rolls or other dishes with a twist but not the place to satisy your sushi/seafood cravings.

First timers at this place and I was disappointed. I had high hopes for this place and was kids of bummed of my experience. Our waitress seemed kind of clueless of what they served and of course our order was wrong. She did go back and brought us the right plate, which I did appreciate. Another odd thing of this place is that they can’t serve you beer in a glass cup and they never brought us the actual beer for us to pour or drink out of like they do in other restaurants. When I asked our waitress why they couldn’t serve our beer in a glass cup or bring it to us unopened she said it was because someone had gotten in a fight and thrown the cup outside… ok? That didn’t sit to well for me and I asked her why they served water in a glass cup and she went on to say it was because they were rules of the restaurant and how it might be the way the city makes them serve their beer. Whatever I left it that way and asked her if they had an alcohol permit and she said she did. So now we asked for our check and on our check she charged us two micheladas we ordered, as Virgin Micheladas and nowhere on the receipt did it say beer or alcohol. Now that I’m home thinking about our service it gets me upset that a place of business would charge you for something they don’t have a permit for and lie about it! How did I know it was the actual beer I ordered and not anything else? I recommend nobody to come here. It is overpriced, service is crappy and they will serve you beer in a foam cup. I don’t even drink beer in a foam cup at home! I’m going to call the manager tomorrow to ask a couple questions. I should of just gone to my usual Mariscos spot which is delicious!

Very good food but slow service. The aguachiles in salsa Negra are very delicious. The avocado roll is also very good. Definitely will go back when I’m in town.

Yesterday evening I had the pleasure of eating here before leaving Orange, CA. We came on a whim in order to try something new, Mexican style sushi. It sounded neat, but I can definitely see why they do not quiet blend. The freshness of sushi was removed when we ordered it at this fusion restaurant. A good Unilocal review isn’t solely about food, so it important to take it back a few steps. When my party of 3 entered the small restaurant, we headed to the front counter to figure out how we should be seated. We were greeted by staff and told that we could sit wherever we please. My group chose one of the booth seats and were handed a menu. We began looking at the menu and saw an extreme amount of shellfish, which is not surprising. My husband has shellfish allergies, so I always make sure to inform waiters about this to prevent cross contamination, When I told our waiter, he called another waiter over to ensure our needs were handled correctly. However, the second waiter immediately suggested that we order an item that contained shrimp after hearing about the shellfish allergies. It seemed like she didn’t understand that shrimp was a shellfish or she didn’t know the menu very well. So after the first questionable suggestion, we went with a few safe options and informed her of what shellfish consisted of. This was solely to prevent accidental cross contamination. Alright, now onto the food. We ordered 3 rolls. These were«2 fish», the New York roll, and some other one that I forget the name. These rolls didn’t have too much variety in terms of flavor nor was the quality that good. Everything was cooked, so we couldn’t really get the sushi aspect at this place. The staff was nice, the prices were decently steep for the quality. I honestly can’t recommend the sushi portion of the menu, but I would like to visit again and try some of the traditional Mexican dishes. I feel like if they incorporated the fresh raw part of sushi and use Mexican prices, this fusion could work. But this concept did not work well for me. My husband said he liked the place, but he prefers more authentic interpretations of sushi as well. Here are a few important side notes. The wait staff were all very pleasant and kept us loaded up on the chip and dip appetizer. The menu was very vast, so sushi is definitely a small component(but the most compelling catch for new comers). There was only one restroom that was quite clean. There was ample parking.

From what I’ve gathered, sushi rolls from Sinaloa seem to be all about cream cheese, lots of saucy toppings, fried things and a splash of fruity flavor. As much as that goes against my usual sushi preferences, the flavor combos here somehow worked for me haha. I really enjoy the food, and even though I’m usually opposed to overly saucy or baked sushi rolls, it’s pretty easy to navigate the menu and stay away from them if that’s not your thing. I love having the option to order a couple rolls along with their delicious Mexican mariscos dishes! Shrimp ceviche — the perfect ratio of meat, veg and fruit in a decent portion served with tostadas. Ripe avo slices on top sealed the deal on this awesome starter. Shrimp & fish soup — lots of whole, shell-on shrimps and big chunks of fish swimming in a piping hot, rich tomato broth. With a bit of added hot sauce and lots of lime, diced onion and cilantro this soup was so good on a freezing OC night. Spicy shrimp tacos — I loved these. The spicy part is no joke, probably an 8 or 9 outta 10. I ended up eating these after my table mates tapped out due to the spice level. Paired with my seafood soup instead of tortillas for the perfect amount of added heat. Fish tacos — battered and fried. Solid and satisfying. Cilantro roll — fried panko crust on the outside, stuffed with fried shrimp, cucumber, avo, cream cheese and topped with a creamy cilantro sauce and sriracha mayo. This was a little overkill on the sauces and I’d probably ask for them on the side next time, but overall good flavors. Banana roll — I’ve seen rolls all over the place with mango, and love those, so this was a must try for me. A California type roll stuffed with cream cheese and topped with sliced plantains and a light banana sauce drizzled over the top. Tbh, this roll made me nervous, but the banana flavor was not as overpowering as I’d anticipated. Pretty fab with some culichi sauce and a dunk in their soy/ponzu sauce, which I found way more enjoyable than plain soy served at other sushi spots. There are so many intriguing menu items I’d like to go back an try!

Mexican sushi? I was intrigued. Unfortunately, I wasn’t too thrilled with my experience, though my table mates seemed to like it more than I did. We came on a colder night in December and the place wasn’t crowded besides two other tables next to us. When you’re sat down, they give you two menus: one for sushi and the other for traditional Mexican fare. One thing to notice is that it was freezing outside, and even colder inside. I believe they had the air conditioning on as well. The staff knew it was cold because they too were all bundled up in winter jackets while working. Maybe to keep the fish super fresh? Either way, it wasn’t a comfortable eating environment. For the sushi rolls, I didn’t care for them at all. They were extremely heavy, saucy and most were loaded with cream cheese. I’ll usually eat anything… and I didn’t even eat half my order. The one that I did like was the banana roll. The banana taste wasn’t overwhelming and it the mixture inside was less creamy than the rest. Everything else wasn’t good in my opinion, including the tacos. I’m a fan of spice, so I was excited to try my two diabola shrimp tacos. You can choose either an order of one or two and I went with the double dose. When they came out, it was a small portion with a SUPER spicy sauce. I’m always saying that things can be spicier, but in this instance, it was too much for me to handle. Service wasn’t great as it took awhile to get someone to take/deliver our drinks and food. For the price, I don’t think it was worth it. Unfortunately, this place wasn’t for me.

The idea of having Sushi and Mariscos at the same time is brilliant. They give you some type of ’ wonton’ chips while you wait, crispy and tasty! We enjoyed Aguachiles at the same time as the Todo roll, both really good. They were nice enough to put on the Dodgers play off game! A must have is the horchata de coco, soooo good!!! Will definitely come back.

I stumbled across this place on Instagram. Man is this a gem of a place. It just opened, so not packed at all. We went on a Saturday at about 5:30pm when Marisco places are supposed to be packed and only about 3 other people. We found this odd, we then placed our order with the waitress, who brought us out the aguachiles which were delicious, and I inquired about the oyster shot, she asked if I wanted to try one(this surprised me). No one offers a patron free oysters. We then ordered a Marlin taco which was superb. We also ordered 5 more oyster shots(for 6 it was $ 8 that’s awesome)!!! We ordered a shrimp coctel and that was to my wife’s liking, simply because I’m not a big Sinaloa shrimp cocktail guy. But she said it was good, they didn’t skimp out on shrimp or avocado, and when asked to bring us other ingredients we like they accommodated us with a smile. In the meantime the owner came around to our table asking about our son and our mean and we got to Talking to her. She said that they had just opened and were only advertising on Instagram and Unilocal.I told her the food was fantastic and that this place was sure to be packed in the future. She was a very attentive owner and her children are the ones waiting and cooking. They can serve michelladas upon request but don’t have the license yet, but as soon as they do this place will be popping. Their sushi options are astoundingly good! They have a creative take on sushi with ceviche and aguachiles rolls, and other type of rolls as well as normal sushi for you people unwilling to try different things. The presentation of the food is refreshing and original. This place is sure to be packed soon, visit while it’s still in its infant stages. Oh yeah and they have 4 big tvs with sports, movies and other things playing so perfect for game days.
