Pell Solar

My journey on getting solar for my home started a little over a year ago. I started working with another solar company but always felt pushed and almost like if they first wanted to get all my information on how much I pay not so that they can save me as much as possible, but more to see how much they could squeeze out of me but still pay a little under what I was paying for electricity.
LA County Fair 2015 I saw the Pell Solar booth, I walked up to their staff and they sat me down with Aaron. I knew I needed a big system and speaking to him for only a couple minutes I realized how educated he was with not only knowledge of the panels but the whole Solar Industry. He gave me his card and we arraigned to talk later.
When we spoke he helped me understand the differences and benefits from Buying, PPAs, and a Lease. Instead of making the decision for me and trying to make me sign a paper as soon as possible. He educated me, put all the scenarios in front of me and then educated me more on the difference it can make to do your homework before going solar. I of coarse really appreciated that, I wanted to make sure I made the right decision for my family and was hungry for a lot of answers. Aaron filled that need and even game me more information that helped me.
This is where I know that Pell Solar was the right company for me, because now that I decided to move forward with them there were 1,000 other problems that were going to happen and if it was not for them going the extra mile I know for a fact I would not have Solar Panels on my roof right now.
Long story short, turns out the car port that was on the rear part of my property was not permitted. My property actually had 2 parcel numbers and was really 2 properties and since the separate car port was on a different property the City Would never permit connecting utilities across property lines. That and a lot of technicalities by the City made this a very difficult Install, in fact at this point I thought Aaron and Pell Solar were gonna bail on me, they should have. I almost gave up.
I knew the only way I was going to get Solar now was to install on the roof of my home. I have 32 palm trees and like another 5 large trees around the west and south west part of my house. Aaron and his team did more than a couple of Sun studies on my very complicated roof and after doing the math they were able to determine that If I were to trim 2 trees and lose 1 palm tree and kept about another 10 palm trees nice and trimmed I could knock out 100% of my bill. I know it wasn’t easy and that they did not have to go trough all that trouble, but thanks to them I now save from $ 300-​$ 400 on my electric bill.
I know sometimes we can be skeptical, and maybe it sounds too good to be true. But do the homework, and inform yourself. In the end it really is all worth it. I got quotes from 4 companies and don’t be afraid about a lease, do the math and consider the pros and cons about both buying and leasing. In my case a lease meant a considerably lower monthly payment.
Going Solar is the smart thing to do you really cant lose. Your already losing by doing nothing, Paying increasingly more to the Utility company thats losing already. So you cant lose going solar. Now its a matter of choosing the right solar company and saving an extra 20% or choosing the wrong solar company and not saving that extra 20%.
After the install I have kept good communication with Aaron and he is making sure we are happy with our system. He came over and explained 100 other things that help us make sure we are managing our electricity usage. Again the man knows a lot about how this whole Industry works. We are really grateful for everything Pell Solar has done to help us, we owe them everything.
I will try to include a picture with what my usage looks like now. It says $ 5 for my next bill but im sure even that will be wiped out. Also Pell Solar does Heating and Air for your AC /​Furnace that will probably the next thing I will be calling them for.

We were referred to Pell Solar from our accountant. What a great referral! After researching a number of different solar companies, Pell made the most sense. We purchased our system, much better than a lease. Josh and his team are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend you use Pell.

There are a lot of solar companies out there right now, I think that Pell Solar was the best choice for me and I have been very happy with their service from the start. Solar tax credits and the way that you’re billed for electricity can be very confusing, Pell solar took out all of the confusing red tape and mumbo jumbo and helped me figure out what I needed to wipe out my electric bill. Since I installed solar over a year ago I have not owed any money to Edison, that’s exactly where I wanted to be.
I would not hesitate to recommend Pell solar to anyone considering solar, it’s definitely the way to go. I have $ 0 electric bills!

After interviewing 5 big name solar companies, I was still not convinced on the equipment, payment and how solar really worked. I initially began with zero knowledge and after interviewing these 5 companies I thought I knew enough to get by but something was still holding me back. My coworker acknowledged my uncertainty of solar and recommended I contact the company who installed his solar; «Pell solar». I called Shaun at Pell solar and scheduled a consultation. Before I go on, Im telling you the truth when I say that my wife was fed up of hearing all the same olé things about solar when we interviewed the other companies and she chose not to sit in on the Pell consultation. So while Shaun was going over how the program worked I stopped him 15 minutes into the presentation because I was so impressed on how clear and direct he was about solar. I went into the other room and convinced my wife to sit in the presentation for at least 10 minutes, and if she was bored or unsatisfied at any time that she can just excuse herself from the consultation. Well, after 2 hours she was still at the table asking questions.
What im trying to say is, this company doesn’t beat around the bush and explains how solar works in a very clear presentation. Also, unlike the other companies, the prices started high then they would begin dropping the price to get me more interested. Pell solar started low and even went lower from there.
I highly recommend this company to friends and family.

We could not be more satisfied with Pell Solar and here’s why…
After a lot of homework and ten consultations (eight face to face and two phone consultations) with well known solar companies, we found Pell professional, respectful, amiable, genuine, reasonable and very knowledgeable.
Pell gave us an accurate picture of what to expect as well as an accurate estimation of timelines-​including potential variables that are always going to be beyond any company’s control (cities and power companies permits).
Pell’s contract is not some complicated maze of unclear gibberish that would require expert decoding by attorneys.
The installation crew was timely, well mannered, clean, well skilled and did everything we were told they would do.
I waited to write this review to make sure that it was not going to come from my giddy mood as I have been ecstatic ever since we were given the all-​clear to operate.
We’ve had our system online for two weeks now, are in the middle of winter, have had several cloudy days yet my electric bill has dropped 90% so come spring, summer and fall, we are going to be even more thrilled.
Pell educated us on the importance of not over building a system that would be rejected by the utility company and create unnecessary delays.
I haven’t specifically named anyone in this review but I count at least 13 people that I either met, emailed, spoke to on the phone or had them work at my house and didn’t have any bad encounters with anyone… Oh what the heck, Shaun, Dirk, Jim and Daniel are definitely worth mentioning as well as Victoria and Lisa in the office but the whole group of them have just been great.
I very highly recommend Pell Solar!
I also recommend switching to solar soon since the utility companies are trying to take away some of the advantages of home generation systems. (I just read an article in the OC Register about that.)
Other companies (that I am very tempted to name):
Amongst some of the things I experienced with other companies were (unwelcome/​unsolicited) flattery, an insult to my intelligence, given low estimates but offered inferior products, inferior method of running the conduit and one of the most expensive quotes came from a well known, national company that couldn’t even tell me what brand of solar panel I would be getting from them but that it would definitely not be either of my top two choices!
Seriously, it would have been like paying for an iPhone knowing you were going to get a Kyocera (literally).
I just edited this (from six face to face to eight consultations) because when I was writing the review, I couldn’t recall two of the middle of the spectrum company names-​it had been four months-​and didn’t want to exaggerate but getting ready for my tax return~Looking forward to that 30% federal tax credit~I came across the other two companies that were included in the interviews.
The point being, I conducted a LOT of interviews and chose Pell).

I too met Shaun Rogers at the LA County Fair. I had previously met with multiple vendors and so Shaun was kind enough to cut to the chase with me and give me excellent pricing. His follow through and the installers attention to detail solidified the fact that I choose the right company. If you are looking for a straight forward, good deal with a quality company, look no further.
PS. My panels were turned on last week and are performing great. 29 solar world 280’s with 250 Enphase micro inverters.

I connected with Pell Solar at the LA County Fair. From the start they were professional and listened to what I wanted rather than trying to get me to sign up for a solar lease. The installation was fast and looks great with no exposed conduit running from array to array. All connections are in the attic.
They also got the inspections and paperwork done in a timely fashion and I am turning in on today.
In the rain… but hey.
I talked with several other companies and Pell Solar was the best. In service and price with American made Solar World 285 panels.
I highly recommend you give them a call if you are considering cutting the Edison cord.

Stay away— I would try another company. The Installation so far seems ok, however the customer service has been bad. Questions have not been answered and once the check was written to Pell I did not here from them again. They never explained how to operate and maintain solar panels. I tried to contact but no response. This company seems to be an unorganized small business. This applied from the office staff all the way to the owner.

The Pell Solar team is fantastic. Installation was smooth and the install team was very professional. They are an extremely customer oriented company. I did not feel like I was simply a quota the Al Del La Cruz had to fill for sales. He and the entire Pell team did not hard sell to me, they answered all questions and customized the solar farm to my house and needs. If you go with Pell Solar you will be very happy ! ! ! ! By the way, Jim the foreman on my job, top notch professional, others should learn from him. And the most important part I have paid $ 00.00 to SCE since they system was PTO (Permit to Operate) in March. Which means they engineered it correctly.

Pell Solar went above and beyond for me. Our Rep. Sean made us feel like family and answered all of our numerous questions with ease. I had 5 major highly advertised companies come out and most wanted to give us a cookie cutter system with sub par panels from China. Pell beat them with price, quality and customer service on what we wanted and not what others suggested. Pell exceeded my expectations. They Went over Sun Power panels and why they are the best. All I can say is THANK YOU Pell!!! I would highly recommend them. From start to finish was 6 weeks. BTW 2 of my friends are now going with Pell Solar.

Pell Solar is professional. Al De La Cruz has been outstanding. Jim and his installation crew were excellent. My installation has just been completed. All went well.
Al is on top of his field. Always available and able to work with all of my needs. I interviewed 5 different companies and I am positive I made the correct choice.

We first spoke with Pell Solar at the LA County Fair, and we then chose them to convert our home to solar after about 6 months and 5 other company estimates. We have now had the solar panels installed for about 9 months, and we couldn’t be any happier. This is the best company with the best service to do your solar panels. Everything has turned out as promised. The installation is perfect and we no longer have an electric bill. In fact, last month we had a $ 70 credit from SCE for using less electricity than we produced! Definitely call Pell Solar before installing solar in your home.

Pell Solar is wonderful! They are very professional and the representative, Al De La Cruz, walked us through the whole process was always available. Picking Pell Solar was the best choice I could’ve made. I would definitely recommend this company!!!

Solar doesn’t get any better than Pell Solar. I researched and interviewed 6 different companies. Pell, hands down, is your company! Professional, clean install, updates throughout the process, fantastic group of people. From the sales rep to the install crew, the employees at Pell care about you as a person and not just a client. I’m a very involved customer. I demand updates and efficiency in a big process like this. I have to say our say sales rep, Al Delacruz, handled every question, concern, text, email, and phone call I threw at hit him. Great guy and great company.

We found Pell Solar at the Los Angeles County Fair. We were very impressed with the amount of specific information we received. Most solar companies we have talked to wanted our personal information first before providing prices, logistics, etc. We requested a visit from a representative. Two days later we were meeting with Al De La Cruz. He accommodated our scheduled and agree to a late evening appointment. We live in the San Fernando Valley. Al made this whole process a breeze. He is a great communicator. He kept us informed of any updates and cc us on his emails with his company and DWP. The panel installation was quick and professionally done. We had had our roof redone and the house repainted. After the panels were installed, they didn’t detract from the house. The panels blended right in. We didn’t have to wait long for DWP to connect our solar meter.
Overall, the project took 6 months. Even after the project was done, Al kept in touch with us to make sure everything was working correctly. BTW: Al is great with dogs. We have 3 hyperactive dogs that seem to calm down every time Al came to meet with us. At one point, all 3 dogs were sitting quietly with Al on the couch. We highly recommend Pell Solar and Al De La Cruz. I have even referred some of my friends that have been turned down by other solar companies and Al is able to help them. Definitely, give Pell Solar a call as part of your price comparison.

Pell Solar completed our installation on 4/22/14…Nice clean install! A special shout-​out and thanks to sales person Al Delacruz for all your efforts in putting this together for our family. We want to do our commercial building with Pell next! Your work crew is awesome and very professional. We look forward to our lower electric bills! I recently had 25 panels installed on my roof. This was a two day project due to an electrical panel upgrade and my tile roof.
The installation crew showed up early each day and waited until the designated starting time as dictated by the city. The crew was extremely polite and courteous and answered each question that I had. They left the work site clean and free of any work material at the end of each day. They by far surpassed all my expectations for their skill level and customer service.
The sales representative was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his business. Having already gone through his own installation, he was very helpful in explaining to me each step and what to expect during this whole process. It all happened on time and as he explained it would.
I am now experiencing the benefits of the solar panels. I love watching the output of my new system through their website to see how the panels are performing.
I would recommend talking to this company for anybody who is considering the benefits of solar energy.
