History

Established in 2003.

From the Founder:

My grandfather got me a computer for my 12th birthday (it was an Apple IIc) after being enamoured with a friend’s Commodore 64. I remember taking apart computers and putting them back together again as a young boy, and by default I was always the guy in my family everyone and their friends/​neighbors came to for computer help.

While a store manager at Tailwaggers Pet Supply in Hollywood, several years ago I began offering my services on the side to customers in the neighborhood, and word of mouth began to take hold. In 2008, I left Tailwaggers for self-​employment and have been growing the business ever since.

Born in New Jersey, raised in Virginia, Adam came to Hollywood in late 2001. Just a few years later he beat all six Mega Man games for NES consecutively.

I called the Computers WTF for help when our office server crashed. Chris, Adam, and Jonathan were SO helpful, nice, professional, and easy to work with. From troubleshooting to offering awesome recommendations to fixing the problems, they made sure I understood everything and all of my office staff were kept in the loop during the whole process. They are lifesavers! My computer crashed, and I was in dire straits… who can live without a working computer these days? Not me. After a few frantic searches I sent an email to another local computer guy, who never returned my email even after a few days when the site said he will only respond to emails or texts (ahem, edthecomputerguy.)
A day later, I decided to contact Computerswtf because they are local and I still needed help. Within an hour, my email was answered with a phone call and an email.
I talked to Adam about my issue, and he promptly set up a drop off time for my cpu and explained their process and pricing. The next day, I dropped off my machine, and they kept me in the loop every day about the status. Very professional and excellent customer service!
Although they couldn’t save my poor old computer, they did save my data for me. They even offered to recycle my clunky old cpu (what a timesaver for me!) Johnathan was responsive and friendly, and they were flexible in terms of dropoffs (parking in that residential area is hit or miss). They turned my computer crisis around within three days! My boyfriend was skeptical about a random selection via Unilocal,but I am very satisfied with them and I now know who to contact for computer issues. If you are on the fence about these guys, I say go for it and let them help you out! They speak in plain English and not computer geek jargon, and they are professional and friendly. Thank you guys!

Where has Chris been all my life? I was about to leave on a 1-​month business trip when my computer started acting up (freezing, going into safe mode, high pitched whine). I’d seen the WTF truck driving around my neighborhood and of course checked out the Unilocal reviews before giving the business a call. They answered promptly and arrived on time as promised. Two hours later Chris had my somewhat aging desktop acting like a younger generation computer. It’s 2x as fast, I swear. The problem? Lots of files that needed updating, too many programs operating on start-​up, oh yes and a lot of dust bunnies and cockatiel feathers (I have 5 of them) inside the computer. I’m a totally satisfied customer and plan on having Chris back again soon to fix my Internet speed issues. THANKS, WTF!

Adam and Computers WTF are great. I work from home and have used them to both come to my place to work out a complicated wireless issue, and have dropped off my computer for general tuneups and servicing. The work is always done well, fast, and pleasantly. The prices are reasonable as well. It’s nice to have a go-​to computer guy when problems crop up. I’ve recommended them to others and hopefully will get the chance to do so again.

If giving 10 stars were an option, that’s how many I’d give computersWTF.
My macbook and I had a run-​in with Maverick, and I was pretty sure that my laptop suffered a casualty from which there was no return. I called Adam and he had my computer mended and back in the battle in no time.
I was so impressed that I had him come by my office and check out my overall set up. In just a few hours, he backed up everything for me and reconfigured my entire set-​up, streamlining all of my devices, apps, and accounts so that everything worked together.
Before computersWTF got involved, it was as if all the laptops and desktop computers as well as various ipads and iphones were all orphans living in my office. Now, everything is harmoniously connected and my overall daily life simplified. Adam only billed me for a few hours, but has saved me a countless amount of time.
Most importantly, the people who work there are all super-​intelligent, yet very friendly and easy to talk to – not a common trend among tech people I have hired in the past. After a few friendly conversations, I can even say that I am now interested in learning more about computers and tech in general, but who has time for that. Give these guys a call.

I have used ComputersWTF Services since my move to LA, about 3 years ago… they have set up my systems after every move, have integrated and helped with my switch from PC to Mac, have come to my rescue when ever I’ve had an issue or did not understand all the applications and set ups. They have come to my home as well as remote assistance.
I cannot say enough great things about this company and the knowledgeable and courteous staff.

I thought it was probably time to ditch my problematic 2008 iMac for something newer, but gave Adam a call and a few days later the RAM is doubled, the OS is updated, all my photos and music have been transferred from an old computer (which they recycled), and my backups are humming along. They only charged me for two hours of labor. These guys are smart, patient and empowering. I ordered the RAM and babysat the installations so I learned a lot and saved money. Win win!

We relocated our office and Adam helped set up and reconfigured our entire Mac based network. Read all the glowing reviews and you’ll understand why I decided to check out computersWTF.
I was up against an impending writing deadline when my eight-​track of a computer had a coronary. Of course, this was the one time I had neglected to back up an important document. I’m usually anal about such things. Masking the panic in my voice, I called Adam. He was calm, friendly and offered some great advice over the phone. I questioned whether I had actually called a computer guy or a licensed therapist.
It turns out I needed to buy a new computer. After high tailing it to Frys, I headed over to computersWTF where Adam transferred the data from my old computer to the new one. I picked up my new computer early the next morning, gleefully opened my recovered writing piece and was able to meet my deadline.

Boy oh boy was I in a pickle :(I downloaded what I THOUGHT was an update for my HP (never buy an HP product!) from the HP website… but it turned out that said update… flashed my BIOS!
I’m no computer genius (Adam of C-​WTF is) but I spent about 10 hours trying to research a solution and another 2 on the phone with HP, only to find myself with an expensive piece of plastic taking up space on my desk. :(
Weeks later I decided to Unilocal for some help, I talked to several people but my impression of ALL of them was that they where trying to steal my money.
Then I found computersWTF.
First off, a guy called Adam recommended a company that specialized in fixing BIOS but I was so sick of talking to people that I asked him if he would give it a try. He agreed! Yes! Sweet!
A few days later… MY COMPUTER WAS LIKE BRAND NEW! I’m not kidding, Adam fixed it! He even told me where to download a better anti-​virus program for free! Cool, That just saved me $ 50 bucks a year.
BUT Now for the really unbelievable part. He rounded my bill DOWN even when it took longer than expected, because it was such a hard job… hahaha the guy actually likes fixing challenging computer problems. What’s more, as a courtesy and because he was going to be in the neighborhood, he delivered my computer back to my house to save me the trouble of having to come pick it up! WTF!!!
Adam was so cool and at the same time so professional that I actually promised to invite him to my next BBQ, You come to him with a problem and he leaves you feeling like you have made a friend!
If there is anything wrong with your Computer (mac or pc mind you)… Call computersWTF and ask for Adam. You’ll be so happy you did.
