Valvoline Instant Oil Change

Incompetent and ignorant. I went in for an oil change and no less than a mile from leaving, I couldn’t accelerate, had black smoke coming out the exhaust, and at times had no power. I took it back, they said they did nothing wrong, re-​did the oil change, and then I had no power. They had to push me to Midas. They insisted to Midas it wasn’t their fault. Two hours later, Midas called me and it was fixed. Morons put 12 quarts of oil in it, but put it in the transmission tank and emptied. Midas didn’t charge me and said they’d take the bill to Valvoline. When I called, they wouldn’t refund me because they did an oil change. They almost ruined my car! I will never return to them and caution anyone who goes.

Went in for an oil change — just an oil change. Actual conversation during the «hard sell» portion of my visit —
Guy to Me — «Tire rotation is due every 6.000 miles and we can do that for you for $ 19.99 and it will take 15 minutes.»
Me to Guy — «The tires can’t be rotated, they are directional.»
Guy to Me — «Oh, well I actually didn’t even look at them.»
Me to Guy — «silence»
This impressive attempt at add-​on services was followed by explanations of my need for —
transmission fluid replacement — $ 149.95 and 20 minutes, radiator fluid replacement $ 109.99 and 20 minutes, air filter replacement $ 24.99 and 0 added minutes and a fuel system cleaning $ 49.99 and 20 minutes.
OK — the thing is, the car is maintained and if the fluids had actually been CHECKED, it would be apparent that they were clean. $ 24.99 for an air filter — um no. I’ll go ahead and use my mechanical engineering degree to get that done myself.
The A/​C is not working in the waiting room and it is 90+ degrees outside. The manager, who was actually very accommodating, explained that the owner was hoping to get through to winter before having to deal with the A/​C situation.
I guess they need to get more silly women, the vibe that I was apparently giving off during my visit, to agree to rotating tires, etc… to be able to afford that new A/​C unit.
Why must getting an oil change be so… exhausting?
In summary, NEVER AGAIN…

Wonderful. Drove in with the kids in the car. No one had to get out of the car. The manager seems to have created a pleasant and helping environment which made me and my family feel comfortable. The bathroom as would be expected where a bunch of guys changing oil work. The demeanor and lack of hard up-​selling was pleasant. Price-​hig for an oil change, but I will return for the customer service.

This place is by my house and we take our cars here for regular oil changes. They are quick and reasonably priced. The service is friendly and as a female I don’t feel like I have a target on my back when I walk in.
Plus go before 10am any day and get $ 8 off for the Early Bird Special.
One complaint is the waiting room is kinda grungy and the coffee is terrible. So I always take a walk to Quik Trip next door and grab a drink while I wait. It’s never taken more than 20 minutes when I’ve been there.
