Oceanside Tire and Service Center

I came to this establishment as a walk-​in. I would not recommend this place for women. The salesmen and staff seemed completely condescending. I needed to get new tires so I just excepted the annoyance. I waited for three hours for them to put my tires on. When I was finally informed that my car was finished I checked the work. I found that the tires had never been changed. This place is unbelievable. The management did not offer any real compensation for the ridiculousness of the situation.

I hate going to the mechanic because as a lady I always assume that I’m being screwed by the guys behind the counter. I felt like Doug gave it to me straight and wasn’t trying to get every last dollar out of me. I would highly recommend this service center.

I’ve done work on my own cars for years. I’ve taken my cars to shops for regular tire rotations and balances every few years to get new tires etc. Basically I only bring in a car for work that is offered as a convenience that I’d rather not do at home.
In all of my years, this is the first time that a shop has ever not tightened lugs appropriately, this is the first time that I have LOST a lug due to lack of tightening. They used enough power to break my stud off but not enough to tighten the lugs back on? If it wasn’t obvious, I’ll never give this place my business ever again.
I checked the other lugs as well as we paid for 4 wheel service. Same thing. Lugs that were under-​torqued and a few additional ones that were seemingly barely touched.
I should have checked them myself. It’s not about the 5 dollars for new lugs. It’s about everything that happened previously, and now having a lug fall off. Not recommending this place.

I’ve come here for the past 5 years. I’ve seen a lot of mechanics come and go from here, one of the owners is here 6 – 7 days a week. I tell you when he’s here things go smoothly.
Me and my family have 5 cars. I bring all my cars here for all my service needs, and for all these 5 years I’ve bring other people in here and never been disappointed with their work in our cars. I highly recommend this place for as long as Ron is here.

This is the second time I used these guys. They did OK work the first time. However, this time after I picked up my car there were finger print stains all over the interior and on the touch screen GPS. The mileage was up a bit which leads me to believe that they drove the car around (errands?). They knew I was seeing a 3 hour movie. That’s it for me.

Went there for the first time. Ron was very professional, straight forward and my service was done in less than 3 hours.

Steve took good care of us. Had a puncture and needed some new tires. On the inspection of the car he pointed out some uneven abnormal wear on one of the front tires saying it was probably because of needing an alignment. Which sucked but it happens. When we picked it up he informed us the alignment was actually in spec so it saved us a few bucks. Good service, we’ll be back.

I brought my car to get 4 tires replaced but when I picked it up there was a bonus waiting for me! My car interior was dirty and now I need to figure out how to remove the oily dirt from my roof.

I brought my car for an oil change and tire rotation. The sales rep Steve was honest with the quote and time to perform the job. The price was good for the service offered. However the tech that worked on the car not only left grease on the door and the soiled paper mats in the car but after he pulled the car out of the bay and parked it, he must have either farted or crapped his pants in my car. The smell was overwhelmingly disgusting and I had to air out the car for a full five minutes before I could actually get in and drive away. This after using Lysol on the interior and glass cleaner to remove the grease off of the door.
… I will never go back, period.

I’ve been coming here for 2 years. I’m very happy with this shop. I bring my Mercedes my M5 my wife’s X3. The guys here work hard. I tell you it’s not an easy job. These guys they really got to love their job. I’m happy to come here and I will continue to come for all my car needs.

I NEVER write reviews because I rarely find a business that gives me a reason to nowadays. Most places make you feel like they are doing you a favor while taking your money. Justin went above and beyond and was happy to do it. I have never felt so comfortable in an auto shop before in my life. I am very pleased with our service there and the extra mile that was taken to ensure it all went smoothly and fit our budget. Very impressed!

Great service… Justin and staff are one of the few that I call professional, where they can be trusted with all my vehicles.

The bad reviews would normally have steered me away from this place, but it’s right across the street from me — and being able to walk home when the car’s in the shop is a big plus.
I’ve been taking my cars here for oil changes for about a year now. The horror stories in the other reviews kept me from doing any bigger service here initially. After 5 or 6 oil changes, I found these guys to be professional, fast, and decently-​priced ($ 20 — $ 25 for an oil change and rotation).
I kept expecting them to try and push some bigger service or unnecessary repair, but I never experienced that. One time they mentioned that there was a lot of wear on the inside edge of my tires — they left my tires turned out so I could see, and it was indeed very worn down. Even with that, they didn’t try to pressure me to buy tires — just mentioned that I should replace them soon.
Recently I decided to give them something a little more substantial (coolant flush). I came away with the same positive experience. They quoted me down to the cent on the phone, and then charged that exact amount when I paid. No attempt to upsell or push additional service down my throat, and they had the car ready in under 2 hours. Total came to ~$ 130 for a coolant flush, oil change, and tire rotation. Not bad.
So no real complaints here. I’d trust them with a bigger service now, and may give them an extra star if that goes well.
Tips:
* They always have some form of coupon on their site or Unilocal app, so make sure you check that.
* Make sure you choose the cheapest oil change option. No need for that fuel additive business.

Wouldn’t take my car anywhere else. After so much bad luck with car service in the past for my Ford Focus, I’m so glad my faith in auto mechanics has been restored at this business. In the last couple years I have been coming here I’ve had several oil changes and some more important repairs as well. I always check auto forums after they give me a price quote and their prices always check out as fair. While I’ve been to places which completed the work more quickly, I have never been unsatisfied with any work they have done. I recommend making an appointment to save time but pull up a chair and relax because good work takes a while. Before I came here my breaks squeaked horribly and every attempt at fixing the problem had failed so I had given up. After one visit to Oceanside Tire and Service the squeak was gone and I hadn’t mentioned it at all. They obviously have a great understanding of not only the specific repairs being done to the car, but also its holistic function, as I feel my car is always returned to me safer to drive than when I brought it in.
The atmosphere of the lobby is clean and impressive. There are periodicals and sometimes a television is on. The staff is consistently professional and friendly. As a woman getting help from a historically masculine field, I am immensely happy with how I am treated here. I have paid double for unnecessary services in the past because I look like a dumb blonde. They explain the problem and the repair well enough so I can look it up when I go home to check out the urgency of the repair, pricing, and exactly what they’re doing. This information creates trust so often missing from auto repair shops. They are more than likely to chat you up if you’re waiting which makes it feel less like a chore and more like your neighbor is just doing you a nice favor.
When I had to add on an unexpected transmission service, the price was higher than I had planned for and I didn’t have enough money with me to cover it. Rather than treating me with distrust and annoyance at my situation, they simply lowered the price to accommodate what I had in my wallet. Working for a small business myself, I understand that it’s just not possible to haggle prices around like that. Every dollar counts and goes to something. I would never expect this from any store and would have gladly figured out a way to get the money to them, but to be rewarded for my continued patronage in this way was a life-​saver this Christmas and I highly appreciate the generosity.
If you live around College and 76 in Oceanside, don’t waste your time driving around for a better price. These guys will improve your car and keep it driving longer.

I bought 2 tires online and had them shipped to these guys for installation. I picked my car up and on my way home the Low Tire Pressure light came on. I checked the pressure when I got home. The two new tires they installed were at 25 PSI and the two existing tires which were rotated were at 20 PSI.
I don’t know who the tire pro is there, but he obviously didn’t work on my car.

On 8÷19÷2013 took wifes Nissan Ultima in for new tires and rear breaks. Got a call from them saying that the car needed the front left wheel hub replaced at a cost of $ 384.00 and the work could be done by 5:00pm. Since the car only has 55,615 miles on it I thought it strange that something would be wrong with the hub which contains the wheel bearings. I asked them how they could tell the bearing and hub was bad and they said that the wheel was so loose that when off the ground one could shake it and it moved all over the place. They said it was a danger to drive the car in such a condition. They said that aligning the wheels was a waist of time in that the bad hub would make keeping the alignment all but impossible.
I said hold off on the repair. I picked up the car and took it to a local Nissan dealer the next day and had them check our this bearing «problem». You guessed it, the Nissan people told me the bearing was absolutely fine after taken it for a test drive and trying to shake the tire when it was off the ground. They said the wheel was rock solid and their was absolutely no play in the hub.
While these folks have been very nice in the past when servicing my tire needs, I would not suggest them as they either do not know what they are doing, or are just trying to rip me off.
Buyers beware!
I will go back for service on the tires I purchased, but not trust them regarding mechanical issues.

I’m all about supporting locally owned small businesses. If I can patronize an honest smaller business with good service, I make it a point to do so even if they are a LITTLE more expensive than the bigger ones. My husband and I have been going here for years for oil changes, tires etc. My husband usually is the one that handles car service issues for me since he knows a lot about auto repair from his previous jobs. The guys here have been nice and the prices have always been good– but apparently that’s just when they are dealing with my husband that KNOWS what pricing should be like and what has already been done and what actually NEEDS to be done. I was a little suspicious when I took my car in by myself once to get 2 tires and they told me that I needed the other tires replaced as well. I was about to get them done, but I called my husband to ask him and he said we JUST had them replaced. I handed the phone to the guy working on the car to talk to my husband and next thing I know… we don’t need the other 2 replaced. Hmm… a little suspicious.
My mom has been visiting from out of town and was going to need to drive back a long distance. My mom gets service done on her Toyota Truck EVERY SINGLE TIME she drives a far distance (about 2 – 3 times a year) and had JUST had a full tune up, oil change and full inspection of the car 6 months ago before she drove out here. In preparation for her drive back she wanted to get her car checked out. She asked where she could go that was honest and my husband said that the guys at Oceanside Tire and Service were good guys and honest. She went there by herself and didn’t have my husband’s cell phone number with her. BIG mistake. She went there for a tune up and walked out with an almost $ 500 bill. They changed her Spark Plugs. $ 500 for spark plugs being changed!!! Are they spark plugs that will make you dinner and clean your house too??? They even talked her into thinking she was getting some GREAT deal. Nice going there guys taking advantage of a nice older lady by RIPPING her off… and to THINK that I’ve actually recommended this place to OTHER people as well. No wonder I haven’t heard back from them! They are probably pissed off at me for recommending a place that probably tried to rip them off too! So much for them being HONEST there. AVOID this place like the PLAGUE if you are a woman or anyone that doesn’t know about cars. Apparently they will be honest and decent to men or people that know about cars, but if you don’t know… BEWARE.

Nicest salesmen… and that’s what they are… salesmen. Went in to buy just standard 4 tires with balance and alignment. What an up sale, they got it down pat. If you go to this place, practice your «just say no» or you will end up buying a bunch of extras you didn’t need (because they can’t offer the great deal without the extras). You will walk out thinking, «wow, I just got had.» Recommend you stay away unless you are already a sales professional and know how the gig works.
