Midas / SpeeDee Oil Change

Went in to check out my brakes because they were making grinding noises from the passenger side wheel. After they had a look at it they told me I had to have service done on my routers. After about 2 hours they were done and the brakes were still doing the same thing. So I went back and they told me it would go away after a few weeks. It’s been a few weeks now and it’s gotten even worse. So today I went in to explain what was happening and the guy said «that’s what happens when you have cheap brakes.» I didn’t even tell him what brakes I had or anything at this point. So he told me they would fix it for 220 dollars when I had already paid 150 for what they said would solve the issue. Don’t bother checking this place out they are rude and they don’t care about their customers.

I had a coupon for an oil change here and called midas asking if id need an appointment to do it. They said no, that i could just walk in and it would only take about 30 minutes, and that they’d have a full crew working that day. This was TWO DAYS before i planned on bringing my car in, so i called again THE DAY OF to confirm they could help me that day at 4pm (and asked again if i needed to make a appointment) and they said that it was no problem, and again that i did not need an appointment. Sure enough i get there at 4pm and they said they could not help me because there was only one employee working and 2 customers ahead of me… terrible customer service! I TRIED to cover my bases by trying to make an appointment for this exact reason. Complete crap… save yourself the headache and go somewhere thats actually helpful.

I got my Nissan Frontier brakes replaced here about a year ago with no issues. I brought my wife’s Jeep Liberty here a couple days ago for an oil change and ended up replacing water pump, new brakes, and front and rear shocks. I left my vehicle overnight. They called to update me thru the process. We picked up the vehicle yesterday and it feels good to know my wife’s vehicle was 100% taken care of. The Midas front desk rep applied all applicable coupons to save me the most money. It rides like a new vehicle!

Poor service. My boyfriend and I went inside and the representative in the front didn’t even welcome us, instead he went to over to make some coffee while we waited patiently for him. Expensive oil changes too! $ 120 sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it. Never coming here again.

This place was ridiculous! I really like Midas as a company but apparently not all locations are created equal. I went in here for an oil change last week and they found a minor problem with my belt tensioner. The guy in charge, Gomez, told me they could order the part and it would take two days for it to arrive. I made an appointment to return in one week on my day off and he said he would have it ordered and waiting. I also needed to change my tires so we planned to do that at that time as well. 7 Days go by and I bring my car back in for service. They aren’t ready for my appointment. I then tell them I will be back tomorrow and we schedule a second appointment for the following day. I dropped my car off at 9am. When I didn’t receive a call by 2pm I called them. They told me they were waiting on parts! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO THE LAST 8 DAYS???
They told me it would be another 1.5hrs. I went in there at 3:30 to pick up my car, which still wasn’t ready! Gomez came out and told me that they couldn’t find any parts that they needed and all they got done was the tires. Are you serious? Why was I just now finding out about this?!! Why did it take you 6hrs to change 4 tires? That’s less than a tire an hr!!!
I WOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE COMING TO THIS LOCATION!!!
Let me reiterate for everyone who might read this,
DO NOT COME TO THIS MIDAS THEY BRING A WHOLE NEW LEVEL TO INCOMPETENCE

I have come here off and on for many years and while I have never had an issue with the shop personally, and their work (in my experience) has always been better then decent and fair-​the atmosphere is a bit… off. Yeah sometimes they yell to/​at each other which can be startling but it’s a mechanics shop, not an art gallery.
No my biggest problem is that they don’t listen very well. When I say «I need my battery changed and I need all four tires inflated to spec» I end up with a battery but not the air in the tires. It’s little things like that. Plus if you are forced to wait in the lobby, it’s like being in the purgatory waiting room from beetlejuice. Hot, stuffy, uncomfortable seats, awkward silence.
Get the AC going and turn up the TV or something.
If they would actually listen to the little things and not just the things that result in a sale or parts or labor-​or stop saying «well we can look at the fan/​shocks/​sunroof/​tire (or whatever) etc but we have to charge you this full inspection fee even though you have merely asked us to literally *look* at it»
…then four stars.
Find a way to not make me feel like I’m waiting in Dr Mengele’s reception room and then we can talk about five.

Update:
The next day I returned, once again with a flat tire. This time my tires were looked at and One tire had been punctured with a nail, which was causing the flat. Along with replacing that tire, my quote included replacing all tires, shocks, and struts on my year old car. I wasn’t given a clear answer when I asked priority level, and was given pricing on replacing all tires as well as shocks and struts, totaling over $ 500. I went this morning to Discount Tire on S Coast Hwy and my punctured tire was fixed at no charge. There may be more work to get another opinion on, but disappointed that this Midas location was adding on so much extra work when I needed a quick fix– Discount Tire accommodated quickly and at no charge, and made no mention of needing to replace all tires…
I’m leaving this as two stars because I haven’t specifically asked a second opinion on the Midas quote, but I do feel that I might have been manipulated and quoted more work than necessary when I asked what was deemed as necessary to drive safely.

I was giving my friend a ride to pick up her vehicle from getting her oil changed (she was very happy with service), and decided to ask about my tire pressure icon that had been on the previous few days. The attendant and mechanic were helpful and happy to check the pressure and fill the tire that was dangerously low for me with no charge– instead of just instructing me to do it myself at a gas station. Great customer service, and I’ll be returning with future car service needs.

Went here for an oil change and had a great experience
–The guys were very nice when I called to ask about how long it would take and the details of their service.
They did the oil change fairly quick/​expected about of time; however, the lobby was full of people when I got there… so I’d consider they moved fast/​efficiently
The price was great. They have a few different options and deals for the oil change I wanted.
Overall customers service was great. Highly recommend!

BUYER BEWARE. THESE GUYS WILL COMMIT FRAUD!
My sister and I went there for an oil change and engine check. While we were waiting, we were approached by the manager. He told me that my engine was loose and needed a 1,200 repair and that my tires were bald. I knew the tires were semi-​new, so something was definitely up. I told him I’d wait on it. Later he approached my sister with a similar story. We turned him down but took the paper work.
Later I approached my father, who has worked on cars most of his life, and showed him the papers. After a quick inspection of both cars, he was pissed. «Those guys are committing outright fraud. The tires are practically new. And the engine is lock steady!» He shock the car to demonstrate. Not a squeak came from the engine.
My father did find that the air filter was cracked. The Midas guys were busy inventing car problems and overlooked an actual part that needed to replaced. It’s obvious that they didn’t perform the engine inspection or were completely incompetent. My guess is both.
I’m writing this review as a warning to all potential scam victims. Don’t go to this shop unless you want to hear more fiction than a Stephen King novel.

HAD to come and post ANOTHER BAD REVIEW these guys are horrible horrible HORRIBKE. Dave your money & go to other businesses that actually care!!! I’m so LIVID right now. My husband called and spoke to someone over the phone that said that they wanted to do a pressure test on our cat. As soon as my husband arrived to midas, a different guy didn’t even service the car. My husband spoke to him and told him what was going on and the guy just said it was a censor. Didn’t even freaking do the test!!! You guys are honestly the most horrible worst car service company out there. You guys are an embarrassment

I started visiting this location in 1999, never had a problem… until now!
I took my vehicle in, due to a malfunction-​indicator light… big mistake on my part! I normally just stick with using Midas for oil changes, but had read that more advanced auto services were available.
Long story short: even though I fully explained I’d just gotten my oil changed, at this very same location, I ended up getting another oil change, and was told the problem was my oil filter and fuel filter… both of which were «allegedly» replaced by Midas. Cost to me, roughly $ 60.
The same evening… the service light was back on!
I took my car to the Dodge dealership the next morning, but called Midas to share the details of the epic fail. What was I offered? A refund… nothing more!
According to the dealer, my car was given poor quality, synthetic oil by Midas, causing the malfunction-​indicator to come on. Also, my fuel filter had NOT been replaced, as Midas had told me. I learned a lesson!
Why expand into auto repair, if you don’t know what you are doing? Stick to oil changes and brakes, although I would no longer trust them to do either correctly!

Went here to get my husbands car worked on. Paul and Victor provided me with excellent customer service among the other mechanics. They were honest, knowledgeable and will be willing to show you what’s wrong and what they recommend if you ask. The shop is a first come first serve basis. You can’t request appointments from what they told me. They get busy fast so depending what other issues another customer may have with their car may be a long wait. It took a few hours for them to finish up my car but they finished sooner then they anticipated. From what I read from the other reviews yes they can be loud yelling at each other, but they are in a loud working environment so they may be use to yelling. Plus it also means they are a comfortable team and just being themselves. They shouldn’t be penalized for doing such. I understand professionalism, but I prefer to feel at home then strictly business setting.

Avoid this place. I found a coupon for a $ 25 oil change on my phone today. I went in to redeem the coupon, and the guy said I had to print it out. I asked him if he wanted me to drive all the way back home, print the coupon, then come back. He said yes, I said good bye. I asked him if he could just print the coupon for me, and it took a little while before he agreed. He then told me my car requires synthetic oil, so with the $ 10 discount, my total was $ 55. They ended up taking twice as long as I was told, and they didn’t even vacuum the carpets (which was part of the deal). With so many other places to get work done on your car, avoid this place at all costs.

Took me in late for an oil change. Check my fluid, brakes and air filter. Used my Unilocal coupon $ 5 off. Courteous and helpful. I would use them again.

Went here to get work done on my car. Man at desk said, «We won’t do the work here, the owner told us not to.»
I asked for the owners name, and man said, «I cant give you his name.» Asked the man for his car and he said, «I don’t have any cards.»
I am going to agree with most reviews here. Avoid this place at all costs.

I came here for an oil change and tire rotation. I had a coupon which they did not honor, wound up paying more then it said.
Anyway I come back in about an hour and they say they are finished. I pull my car out of the parking lot and everything seems normal. After driving about 500 feet down the road my car starts shaking violently. I slow down to see what’s going on, and as I slowdown my car halts immediately and my tire goes out flying into the street. Turns out they didn’t tighten the lug nuts.
I got a tow truck to bring it back there. They were liable for the damage done obviously, but they did not give me a rental car or any compensation while my car was in the shop. Terrible experience, I would never come here again.

Avoid this place at all costs, they will most likely screw up your car or not complete a service in hopes that you return within a few months. It is totally obvious what they have going on here, and you are better off finding another place to take your car.
My car did not have the ABS light on before taking it to this place, after they put it on and off the lift, the light came on and they told me, «Oh it’s fine the light will turn off in a few miles.» It has been a few months of driving my car and the light is still not off. I do not know what someone did under the hood, and it makes me nervous that it was done on purpose.
Tread carefully!

They honored a $ 20 oil change Von’s coupon. I verified the work. They Didn’t add any windshield washer fluid when it’s included to top off fluids And I mentioned it. They Refused tire rotation because Cali law says the best tires need to stay on the back. Other fluids like brake, power steering and coolant, they won’t fill if it appears dirty. Instead they try to sell you a flush.
I can only give 3 stars and that’s because the manager Shouted at his employes to Fully do the job Lol
I would go again, but verify or watch all work.

So took my car in to get an oil change, I don’t know what the big fuss is about seeing the guys here aren’t bad guys at all. My service was done quick and they broke down what needed to be done. I didn’t feel any pressure the manager Paul told me everything recommended was to be done to prevent anything for the future of my vehicle. Like I said once again the service was great and he was straight forward and honest about what need to be done. I would recommend these guys to my friends and family great people and great service.
I trust the Midas touch lol

I was a little skeptical about coming here considering all the bad reviews. But I decided to give them a chance and experience the service first hand.
I took my car in a couple of months ago because it needed some new brakes. The manager was nice (forgot his name). He was informative and tried to give me whatever was best for my situation and wallet.
I didn’t have an appointment, and was a walk in. They were able to help me immediately. He gave me a pretty decent deal. And I was in and out fairly quickly.
Overall, I’d come back.
