Oceanside Glass

I am a tough customer because I am a business owner and my business
strives to maintain a 5-​star online status. Oceanside glass is a 5-​star business. I couldn’t be happier. Brendon respected my time, was quick to appraise and repair, price was reasonable, quality job was a ¹⁰⁄₁₀.

Wow. After reading those one star reviews I just thought I got all the love when I came in and they had nothing left to give. Just starting to review on Unilocal but I could spend a long time doing it if I got paid to complain. So many company trying to raise their online status so we customers try to review companies we do visit. We do want to support local business but we want the starts to reflect accurately. If Oceanside Glass didn’t come out because it was too difficult then they would be out of business. Should they get a 5 from me? No probably a 4 because we all can improve. Do we need to give 5 to fight back at the 1 star haters? Yes. Oceanside Glass have done more than just my difficult ones but all the difficult ones over the years that Oceanside residence walked in the door with. Now they have done a few wrong and I had one that didn’t work. Did they fix it? Yes. Did I come back? Yes. If they always did it right and never made a mistake then taking your business Dogsled would have been the first one.

I’ve never been one to give a one star review but I wish I could give a zero in this case. I left a voicemail for this company on a Friday afternoon and didn’t get a call back. No big deal as it was the weekend. So I called on Monday to get an estimate. Ryan showed up to our home to give an estimate. He was an hour late but no big deal. He showed up disheveled but again, not a problem. He got some measurements and told us that he would call us the next day with a quote. He didn’t call the next day so I called the office the day after that. The lady that answered the phone was very sweet and said that she didn’t see quote yet so she would call Ryan and call me back. She calls me back saying that Ryan said that he would have to pass on the job. No explanation, nothing. He never called to tell us that. Had I not called, I’m sure he would’ve never called back. Exceptionally unprofessional. I’d steer clear of a company this unprofessional.

First off ignore dogsleds post. Complete nonsense and sounds like there are unrealistic expectations. Also, appears to be a habitual debby downer on Unilocal.
We have used this company twice now and both times Ryan and Tyler are the consummate professionals. He and Tyler were both timely in their responses to me as we worked out the best approach to replacing our skylight window that was cracked. Reasonably priced the job was done in under an hour. Clean, precise, and respectful of our home. Hands down they are the best in the biz!

Oceanside Glass is the epitome of why small businesses have trouble making it in the U.S. as This is a business that truly «takes the cake»… Where to begin? Well, firstly Oceanside Glass advertises making and installing custom sliding shower doors. When I called about obtaining a custom made shower door, they turned me down?! (I want to replace my current shower door since it is very cheaply made and very poorly cut i.e. the bottom rail was cut too short and requires a hefty blob of sealant to attempt to keep water from leaking through this particular gap. The installation of the shower door was not done well either). While on the smaller side, the shower door that I was looking to replace, while not a standard size, is not too uncommon: 45 inches wide by 68 inches high give or take a ¹⁄₁₆^th of an inch; a rectangular opening for a shower stall/​enclosure. My measurements aren’t exact since I was anticipating Oceanside Glass living up to their advertising and coming to give a «free estimate.» One of their «excuses» for «letting this job go» was that this type of job can get tricky??? Isn’t that the reason for them to come out to look at the job and provide an estimate based on «how tricky it might get?» But I digress somewhat. I was shocked to hear them say that they «were going to let this one go???» My response was: «You aren’t even coming out to look?» Their answer was: «You’re in Escondido, maybe if you were just down the street…» Oceanside Glass proudly advertises on their website that Escondido is one of the cities/​towns in their service area??? Apparently their «service areas» are only optional at Oceanside Glass’ discretion and apparently Oceanside Glass has enough business to pick and choose the jobs that they want to do. It is this type of attitude and example of miserable customer service that is all too common in the U.S. today. I certainly believe in supporting your local economy, but I also believe in truth in advertising. So whether or not Oceanside Glass makes «custom shower doors» is certainly questionable… It is pretty clear that they do NOT serve the Escondido area and their promise of a «Free Estimate» is a downright LIE… Oceanside Glass has some serious ethical issues. Is Oceanside Glass who you really want to do business with?

I decided to use Oceanside Glass because Ryan, the owner, was was the only one, of the 5 companies I’d called, to give me a timely quote. In fact, before I spoke to Ryan I was beginning to think that everyone in this industry were total flakes. 5 companies called, 1 didn’t show up for scheduled measure, 2 took almost 2 weeks to email the quote (and 1 of those quotes listed the total windows and totla price w/​out a breakdown of installation and price per window!) and 1 after measuring, never emailed the quote!
Ryan scheduled an appointment to measure the 16 windows that needed replacement in our home. After the visit he got the quote to me the very next day! Of the 4 companies who gave me an estimate, Ryan’s was tied for the lowest. Ryan ordered the glass and about a week later was out installing our new windows. As we had 16 windows the job took 2 days. Ryan and his helper were both very professional and neat. After one of the small trim pieces broke (not surprising as they were 28 year old wood windows) Ryan brought out a trim piece to match and reinstalled that. He even cleaned the track and oiled our old hard-​to –open patio slider door, which now opens effortlessly. Great job Ryan!

After calling 2 other glass companies in Oceanside I chose to do business with Oceanside Glass for the following reasons:
1. They are the cheapest.
2. The person on the phone (Ryan?) and answered all my questions and gave me a quote over the phone.
3. Next day went to the store Ryan wasn’t there but a different guy just as nice was there. Showed him a picture of my project and he was carrying the pieces of glass to my trunk within 2 hours.
Fantastic customer service that if I ever need glass again this is where I would go and highly recommend to anyone else.

I am always happy to use and recommend local businesses. Oceanside Glass repaired several of the (very large) windows in my home. Ryan, the owner, removed the windows and took them to his truck where he did all the work. He was very professional and reasonably priced. I would definitely use him again and am happy to recommend him to others.

Window replacement was fast and affordable. Great service.
