I worked with Jim on a bathroom window replacement. I found all of my interactions to be responsive, professional and high quality. From booking to installation it was very smooth. The man who installed the window even cleaned up after– a huge win from past service men I have had into my home. Would definitely use again.

When I contacted Keith and the repair job was too small for the Window Specialists, he was kind enough to recommend someone else he knew and trusted who could do the work for me. He actually even gave me his cell phone to call with questions and emailed me to make sure I got his messages. I felt like I was in a past era in a movie about small town people who go out of their way to help other people just to be nice! It’s really rare.

Very happy with our new Fleetwood windows that were purchased and installed by The Window Specialists. They did a great job and we will be using them on the rest of our home that has circa 1960 original windows.

The Window Specialists have a new owner and his name is Keith. I called them because of a wonderful recommendation I got from my neighbor, and I wasn’t disappointed. The customer service was great with Keith and his crew coming out and measuring my windows multiply times because my house had settled over the years and the window openings are no longer square. It was a very tricky project and I had 9 large windows that had to be replaced on an unusual Eichler house. Everything was explained and proposal was sent via email which was broken down so I could understand exactly what they were doing. The cost was very competitive. I can’t say enough about what a nice and honest guy Keith is and what great work his crew did on my windows.

Keith was friendly and had lots of advice. He explained everything very clearly.
The quality of the job was excellent.
After getting the run-​around with other companies, I was so glad to find the Window Specialists.

As a matter of principle, I don’t write bad reviews on Unilocal — but I feel compelled to report that I also had the experience others have mentioned, where we successfully scheduled a home visit, had a great walk-​through, and were told we’d get a quote over email, and then… radio silence.
I called the office after two weeks, left a voicemail, and received no reply… a second voicemail got me a call from the owner, who was very friendly and let me know some staff were out for personal reasons that week —
But it’s now been a month with no word at all. We liked the man who gave us our estimate and learned a great deal from his visit, and I was willing to hop right into a contract… but we’ve had to take our business elsewhere.

Was playing «T-​ball» in my backyard when a little «accident» occurred, Keith was able to save the day and prevent me from being grounded! No harm, no foul.

I went to The Windows Specialists today (a Monday) at 2:30p to find nobody there and a bunch of UPS delivery stickers on the door. So I called them and got an answering machine.

The Window Specialist was a great choice when looking to have a few windows in my home replaced! They were prompt, friendly, and very well organized. I spoke with Jim Ford and he sent someone out the same day I called. The sales person was very upfront and straightforward, and the quote I received was fair. They came to my residence, removed the old windows, installed the new ones, and cleaned up after themselves. I could not have asked for any better service and recommend this company to anyone who needs their windows replaced immediately.

Updating my review from below from a lackluster one star to 4. Keith has been brought on to improve the process and service. Under his wing, he has been super response, attentive and a pleasure to work with. Keith has called back, followed up, and ensured that we are pleased with the overall experience. Fingers crossed that this business with turn around and thrive. Rating a four because of historical experience but since talking to Keith it has been a 5 star experience.

Not very happy with the service level with Jim Ford. We ordered windows from him last year that took forever to arrive (despite him promising that they would be delivered within a week) in addition scheduling to have them installed took forever as well. Also our invoice for the windows never came. We actually called them to remind of our outstanding payment. To make it even better, our names were spelled incorrectly on the bill sent to us.
Once installed, our side windows were warped so they never fully closed. We called Jim and left him a voicemail that again took forever for him to get back to us. He promised to put in a service order to have amerimax call me within a week. Guess what? They never called. Again reached out to jim via email and voicemail in which he promised to call me the next day. Never happened. Again emailed and he wrote back stating he put in a service request for amerimax to call. This was 4 days ago… Also I had asked for a quote on two additional windows and still have not received a quote. If you want a non responsive and slow company to help out with your needs, this is your placE

I’d like to start off by saying it takes a lot for me to take the time to write a review about a company. But I feel after using the window specialist for over 16 years it’s time for me to write my review. I am a real estate agent as well as a property owner and landlord. I have referred the window specialist to many many of my clients. All who have just praised what an outstanding job they did. They felt respected honored and that they were working with a very honest team of people. They raved about what an exceptional job Tom and Jim and their crew did. My own experience is I have had over seven houses have new windows installed. My tenets have always said after the team leaves the house is been vacuumed the windows are clean more than it was before they actually got there. The quality of the windows that they choose for each one of my properties and my clients have always been exceptional. My last house has 12 large floor to ceiling windows it is absolutely delightful to be able to enjoy my view cut down the sound and feel secure and safe. On occation I have looked at comparing prices. I have been shocked at how much other companies very in prices. I have felt other companies do not respect me because I’m a woman they don’t treat me fairly and they try to hardball me to buy that day or the price will go up the next day. NEVER have I experienced this with The Window Specialist. I highly recommend this company if you own a home rental property or an apartment complex. They are a honest reliable company to work with I trust him explicitly. Like I said I have been working with them for 16 years and I have never had to have them come out and do any repairs because they do a great job in the beginning.

Update. Keith the new owner has contacted me several times. I see he is actively trying to put in the systems needed to manage a business and I think that it great. I cant update my star rating more than 2 stars because my previous experience is what it was. I truly wish anyone and everyone success, I have a company that has had a couple of poor ratings on Unilocal and it actually taught us to do a better job so lets hope Keith the new owner follows thru with his plans to improve the company. My company is at 4 stars and 16 years in business it is busier than ever…
Noone is perfect and there are plenty of reviews that are biased one way or the other. I am sure if Keith the new owner does whats needed, his company will thrive.

I called Jim to ask for some help regarding a Milgard sash for a window in my home. They don’t carry Milgard products, but walked me through exactly what I needed to do to get the correctly sized window. He then referred me to a Milgard dealer nearby as well. Jim is very knowledgeable and was patient with this window newbie. Its great to speak with a company that understands customer service and strives to make the customer happy. If I need window work in the future, I’m calling Jim.

Jim was helpful and clear in explaining my choices for replacement windows. He also was clear about when I could expect them to arrive. His installers are excellent. They are extremely neat and careful, as well as friendly and reliable. They did a meticulous job of the installation, covered everything in the house and left it spotless. It was a bit difficult to connect with Jim in the first place; it took a couple weeks for him to return my call — I’m afraid this is pretty standard for contractors these days. He apologized and gave me his mobile number and then we stayed in good contact. I highly recommend them — if you’re willing to be a bit persistent.

I had vinyl windows installed 13 yrs ago and recently, I’ve been unable to lock one of them.
I couldn’t find the person who installed them but found Jim Ford
through a couple of phone calls and he was terrific. He came out within a couple of days to make the necessary
adjustment so that it could be locked. He did not charge me since he said a more complete repair needed to be done. He filled out an order that he said he’d fax to the right
dept. for them to contact me to arrange the full repair. He was knowledgeable and very easy
to work with. I highly recommend him.

Thom From and the Window Specialists replaced the windows in my Oakland home many years ago. I was very pleased with the quality of their work and the follow up with some minor problems after wards. I enjoyed the benefits of dbl pane thermal windows for many years before finally selling my beautiful home in 2007. The windows increased the value of my home. This review has been a long time coming. I had several of my old double hung single pane windows replaced. I spoke to Jim Ford on the phone and he was prompt in coming out to my house and getting me an estimate. After several bids for the same job we choose the Window Specialist as they beat all other bids and offered a high quality product.
The install date was set and they arrived on time ready to go. The gentleman that put in my windows worked from the inside of the house and covered the room with tarps and carefully pulled all the interior trim to insert the new windows. He did such a great job that I never even had to paint or touch up the trim after the install. Its been well over a year and the windows have been awesome! Super quiet, keeps the heat out the warmth in, no leaks and are easy to slide open and lock.
We purchased the higher end double hung window (can’t remember the name right now) and it was worth every penny. Thanks again Jim for the high quality windows and look forward to doing business again. Highly recommended!

I tried going with another window company. The window specialist price was too good to be true. About half the price of other companies. I called Jim to schedule an appointment. Jim answered and said he was not in the office and that he’ll call me later that day. The call came in two weeks later. Im not sure why Jim cant keep his word. He did offer me a discount for the couple of times he would forget about me.
The work came out great BUT the guys he had working for him left a mess all over my granite counter. They were putting away their stuff and I asked if they were done. They said yes, so I proceeded to clean the mess they left in front of them. They did not bother to apologize and just looked at me while I did their job.
If your looking for a great price and willing to wait… Call the Window Specialist.

My husband and I are in the process of purchasing a home. We are first time home buyers. Everything was moving smoothly until we found water damage under one of the windows and carpet of the room. We suddenly began panicking because we were only given 24 hrs to decide whether or not we would take the house. By this time, we already had four inspectors check the property — the termite inspector, home inspector, handyman, and roof doctors. No one could figure out the cause of this water damage. I frantically searched the internet and found Window Specialists on Unilocal and decided to give them a try. I sent out an email to Tom and Jim (names & emails found on website) at around 11 pm at night. We had already given up by this time and figured there was no way we could get this done in such short notice.
But by the time my alarm woke me up in the morning, I received an email from Tom! It was amazing and I was super thrilled to have someone answer so quickly. I just couldn’t believe that all the positive reviews on Unilocal could actually be true. His email informed me that this problem should not be a deal breaker on the house. It comforted me that an expert actually gave me honest advice rather than, like the rest of the inspectors, tried to sell me additional services on «fixing» the problem.
I called Jim when I got into work and he quickly picked up. He was already at a job but assured me that he would squeeze me into his booked schedule. By now, I was very thankful for their understanding of our situation. Within a couple hours, he let me know what time he would meet me. And when the time came, not only did he arrive early, but he spent a great amount of time trying to solve the mystery. He spent a lot of time with us running multiple experiments repeatedly, analyzing the entire window area, and thoroughly explaining his findings to us.
Jim was very kind and thorough. He took the time to explain everything carefully to us, shared a lot of his knowledge and expertise with us, and welcomed all the plentiful questions we had for him. He never rushed the job even though he was super busy and booked for the day.
We highly recommend the Window Specialists to everyone we know and everyone we don’t know on Unilocal!Tom and Jim are both spectacular people. They went completely out of their way for us and we are so incredibly grateful for them accommodating our tight deadline. They provided us with a high level of customer service throughout the entire process and even took the time to give us a call afterward to make sure we were pleased. While enjoying a pot of green tea at work in comes an email from the apartment building I live in, «Next week we’re going to have contractors in your unit replacing windows. They’ll be in Tuesday, all day.»
I was not amused, you see I live on the 4^th floor and the idea of me being windowless for 8 hours lead to horrible thoughts of my cats tumbling to their doom. Of course being the responsible pet owner that I am I decide to take the day off and hang out, make sure my cats stay firmly inside where they need to be.
I’m bummed, blowing a vaca day for friggen windows. Can we at LEAST push the appointment to Friday? My building checks in with The Window Specialists, they say no problem, Friday it is. Well that’s good news.
Another email arrives later that day, «Since you’re in a bind they say they can take care of it in 4 hours, that way you only have to be there a half day.» Even better news.
At the end of the entire ordeal they were here for a grand total of 2.5 hours. GREAT news. Compared to the original 8 hour guesstimate, that’s amazing. Now I can enjoy the rest of my day off! The team of 5 was like a whirlwind of window replacing prowess. Icing on the cake? They brought up screens at my request, no more fear of cats out the window.
The windows look superb. How they did such careful work in such a short amount of time I know not, but I guess that’s what makes them the Window Specialists right? Great service and end result, packaged with friendly and open demeanor. They removed all the protective plastic that was laid down, vacuumed up the mess, and left everything just as it was upon their arrival.
I normally don’t write reviews the day of. I sit on it for awhile, procrastinate, do other stuff. But hey, they went out of their way to knock my apartment out in record time, I think I can return the favor.
