The Home Depot

This review is for the appliance installation service. Do not use their installation service. I paid $ 100 for a vent hood installation and the installer came to take measurements and said it was a simple job. A few days later I get an email stating that I need to fix the duct before they can do an install. I call the installers and ask them to install the hood and we can do ductwork after. The person I spoke to said that they would be at my house to install a dishwasher anyway and could check the hood again. They did a good job installing the dishwasher and then said they wouldn’t install the hood because it wouldn’t be under warranty. A week later the Home Depot rep calls me to say they are charging me another $ 100 for the visit to look at the hood. This is $ 200 for doing nothing with my hood. They also were already at my home installing a dishwasher so no extra trip was made. Basically they were double billing for doing no actual work. Save yourself time and headache and do not use this (dis) service. Learn from my mistake. Find a handyman to do it. Do not use the Home Depot installers! They are Home Depot subcontractors of pacific west or XPO. It’s a waste of time and money.

My boyfriend and I came here to pick up two wall planters for a vertical garden. They are great and the woman who helped us at customer service was super nice. I couldn’t wait to pick out some succulents for my new planter in the nursery! Unfortunately, a lot of the were in awful condition. The succulents in the pre-​curated planters looked better, but the majority of the individual ones were dying and had tons of dead-​leaf debris — no love for these poor plant babes. I found some that looked healthy, including a cute cactus (pretty hard to kill those, even for Home Depot). When we came home, I immediately discovered there was some weird webbing on the cactus, around the flower. These mofos are glueing flowers onto the cacti!!! I couldn’t believe it. Never again!

I don’t review a lot of corporate chains b/​c it seems pointless but I have to sound off on a what an atrocity of a place this is.
Ghetto employees who are super rude and don’t want to help and when they do help they have attitude.
Getting out of here is a logistical nightmare. There’s a fence around most of the property and you can only come and leave one way and of course… as you might guess… it bottlenecks. What in the world? Got stuck in a big clusterfuck traffic jam just trying to leave this place. I refuse to patronize a business that is 100% purely about profits and clearly put no planning into the placement of said business and the fact that it results in such inconvenience for thousands of customers. No respect for these jokers.
Won’t be darkening their door again.

This is a great store with wonderful staff. All my renovations I used this home depot to purchase my supplies. I did the work myself and was basically clueless. The staff were helpful and spent time with to show me what I needed, and how to save. This is my go to store to purchase all of my home repair needs. It is open during convenient times.

This place is right next to a 24 hour fitness but I don’t know why anybody would need to go there after a Home Depot run. Usually lifting 60lb concrete bags and heavy lumber is enough of a workout. I suppose you could hire a couple of day workers to do the lifting for you from Home Depot and then at night you could drop by the gym only so you could lift iron there?
This Home Depot I’ve been to at least 80 times over the past 10 years. Its helped me with almost everything I needed to restore my old victorian. No, not remodel — I preserved as much of the time accurate detail as possible.
The people who work here really know their stuff. I think these guys work here during the day and do upgrades to their own places at night. From this they learn first hand and can better understand what you might need help with.
There are sometimes horrible waits at check out but you can eat some food right outside to make up for it. If the line really got you down maybe a Happy Meal across the street at McDs will cheer you up.
I’m now working on another old Victorian in Hayward. Mostly these days I go to Home Depots in Hayward or Pleasanton just out of convenience. Since I go to so many of these stores I can say that this one is ok. There are better and there are worse.

I can say with complete honesty that I’ve never posted a negative review. However, I called this Home Depot inquiring about a 5×4 wooden trellis. It took an unbelievable amount of time to answer the phone. When they finally answered, I was placed on hold for an awful ten minutes– only to be connected to the wrong department. When I finally spoke with the garden department my call was immediately disconnected. I foolishly called back and repeated this terrible process. Halfway through my miserable wait on the second go-​round I decided to call another Home Depot– a bit further from my location. My call and my questions were answered in a timely and professional manner.

This Home Depot allowed a criminal to use a fraudulent credit card to steal $ 326.55 from me on February 13, 2016 by not asking to see any form of identification. Avoid this business; they are aiding criminal activity by not taking the most basic and necessary steps to prevent fraud.

I went to the oakland home depot off alameda drive a few nights ago to make a large return. I was making the return for a friend and there was a bunch of issues and the nighttime manager Moriece was so helpfull. He made my week. I will be using that home depot from now on. Great service, helpfull, knowledgeable, A+!

Are there negative stars?! This is more about their installation process than in-​store purchasing, though they managed to get that wrong SEVERAL times in the course of ordering just two doors.
I don’t have enough space here to list the incomprehensible number of things that went wrong with simply having two storm doors installed. But the icing on the cake is that just 2 weeks and one rain later… the door is already rusting! RUST in two weeks and ONE RAIN. Are you kidding me?
Beyond unacceptable! The door person at this store knows the sounds of my voice because they and the installers have messed up so many times… Home Depot staff was courteous and I have no complaints about their attitude and ongoing support, but whatever you do, DO NOT use their installation service. Please, please, please allow my words to spare you the frustration.
And they have to come back because one of the doors they installed was defective. So, both of my door, several months after beginning this «should be pretty simple» project, I have to wait a few weeks for them to come back and fix that one.

Ok its really busy today… experience service and fast service I like to come here to choose stuff for my house

Why is it that almost every time I purchase multiple items at least one is nowhere near the advertised price?
An entire box of items in the wrong space? Seriously?
If you require assistance, avoid this store at all costs. They’re more interested in stocking (incorrectly) and security.
I went to purchase stuff to kill off a rat in my place just now, and when I couldn’t find what I was looking for, the guy grabbing items off the top of a shelf pointed out that it was where his ladder was. He then left the area, empty handed, and the ladder in my (and other customers’) way. Wtf?

I came in here to pick up a fire extinguisher and they had limited options.
Staff was friendly but there was a lot of security everywhere.
Parking was easy and it was close to the free way.

I tried to return something today and was accused of manufacturing the cement block and trying to return for a whole 8 $. Even tho the receipt clearly stated the item snd dimensions of the item. Seriously?
And to make it worse it was by a manager, Dennis. He was accusing, rude and condescending. I am calling the corporate office to file a formal complaint. I have never been treated so foul by a person who gets paid to help the customers.
Ive shopped here for over a decade but will never patronize this store again. I am completely disgusted by this experience. A person should not have to go thru this much drama, be yelled at and be treated so badly. Especially for a measly 8 dollars. Keep the 8 dollars you just lost a customer for life.

Truly a frustrating experience. Was excited and eager to work on new home. Wanted
To buy blinds, outdoor furniture, and some basic tools. Spoke to no fewer than 5 employees for help and no one helped us find anything or call the right person who could. Also frustrating that no one knew answers to questions about how the in-​store inventory for blinds worked. Was really as though they didn’t want our business. Will try hard not to go back. I’d rather spend the extra money at our local Ace where the service is great.

Wow, this place blows.
This is the worst Home Depot ever. Nobody even attempts to help, and most of the time you see employees standing around talking on their cells, too busy to help actual customers.
I’ll make the extra drive to go to Lowe’s or even another HD just to avoid the ineptitude at this location.

This is my go to Home Depot because of the location. It has a huge parking lot, and is located right next to 24 Hour Fitness and McDonalds.
My biggest complaint is the service is hit or miss. Sometimes you will get someone eager to help and friendly. Most times you can either not find anyone, then once you do they are rushing to help someone else or busy. It would be great if people were wandering around asking if anyone needed help.
They do have a good return policy, but you have to wait in line on the weekends to do returns. Overall, I will keep shopping here because of the prices and convenience, but some aspects could be improved.

Come here way to often to know not to talk much to the employees. Usually they are always quiet and not in the mood to talk to anyone. Today surprisingly the cashier was smiling but that was because she was talking to her coworkers while helping me at the cash register.
And if you need help at the lines look for the older employees they always help. The young cats aren’t so friendly.

I finally moved in! The remodel is almost complete!
In the dozens and dozens of times I visited Home Depot in the past 4 months, I’ve brainstormed many opening lines for this review. Here’s a few of them…
There was a time I walked in with wide-​eyes excitement and then the weeks wore on, I nearly cried in many different aisles.
Warning: Never buy a fixer-​upper. You may find yourself here at 7am on a weekend buying sheetrock.
Home Depot is hell. You will resist, but you will be sucked in.
You should buy Home Depot stock if you do that sort of thing. They suck money out of you — maybe at least you’ll get some dividends back.

You know you’ve spent too much at Home Depot, if you try to take a nap on the lumber.
The employees are for the most part incredibly helpful… When they can be found.

This location is giant and has a larger selection of stuff, but the employees really do seem more scarce compared to some of the locations. The parking lot is a pain to get in and out. On the upside, this location has the tool rental center.
Just avoid the Home Depot money pit. Seriously I may have to make another one or two trips, but I would happy if I never had to return.

This has to be the most busiest Home Depot I’ve ever came across. I arrived here at about 9 AM and there were cars going in and out of the parking lot like no tomorrow. Traffic on the main streets was also ridiculous. Early birds are here at full force; therefore, it is highly recommended to make your visit off peak hours if possible.
Other than traffic, it is your typical Home Depot supplying you with your hardware needs. I’ve managed to find exactly what I needed and make an immediate exit. Perfect!
If you plan on heading back to 880 take a left on Alameda Avenue, right on Howard St, and left on High Street. If you attempt to catch 880 on Alameda Avenue you end up making a U-​turn. You have been warned. The on ramp should be obvious when on High Street.
