Out of Business?!?
I found this place two years ago and have bought several quality pieces from them. Loved the place and referred satisfied friends.
Over Memorial Day weekend, the store was disheveled and there were no friendly sales folks. I did find a nice hutch, though, but it wouldn’t fit in my car. I borrowed a truck and returned on Tuesday, but they changed their hours to weekends only.
Then I returned this past Sunday, and a sign on the door says «CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE». No phone and the email bounced back. I guess I’m SOL.

Great quality, modern furniture at reasonable prices! However, you better make surrey you check your order and have everything you need because if you need to call back for any reason, there is no one to answer your call… at all… EVER!!!
And if you try to email them at
, the email bounces back. They do not answer this phone number 510.532.8406 or this one, 510.746.2904 or this one, 510.434.1600 (which is suppose to be customer service).
So, if you have any questions at all, you are going to have to go there directly because there are no other means of getting ahold of anyone working there.
In my book, that is horrible customer service and a big deterrent!!!

This is a great place. Inexpensive sample and overstock modern furniture from a manufacturer that supplies many more costly retailers (Macy’s, West Elm, Pottery Barn). You pay less than IKEA prices but walk away with something much nicer.
This place is especially good for circumstances where you are not yet prepared to buy an heirloom but want to have something decent until then.
I have outfitted our entire office with handsome solid wood furniture using Sitcom. I also bought a solid wood dining table and glass coffee table. All of them felt like steals to me.
A lot of the furniture is not to my taste. The upholstered items are generally lower quality. And among wood or metal and glass furniture, there can be a lot of weird or cheap-​feeling items too, with gems hidden in between. Just visit often and be prepared to pick and choose. There is a lot of turnover.

They have the most amazing pieces! I’ve been shopping around for months for office furniture that was both aesthetically pleasing as well as cost effective. It was a long tedious process. The day I walked into Sitcom, I knew that my search was over. The staff was super helpful and friendly, I must have went there 4 times before making my purchase and they never got impatient with me. I went to West Elm, Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, and there was nothing that I had to have. At Sitcom, I had to have everything!
The only thing about Sitcom is that the furniture isn’t really in stock, a lot of it is discontinued, or on consignment. When you see something, you have to buy it, probably won’t be there a few days later. I will be checking back weekly as I have my heart set on this bad ass purple chair! I heard it was there the week before and I had just missed it, so hopefully it will pop up in the showroom soon but there’s no guarantee :(Great experience, great stuff, I will alway check here first.

I LOVE this place! Love the styles of furniture they sell, and love the prices they sell them at!
FYI, to those who seem to get lost finding the place, it is the EASIEST place to get to… it’s right on High Street off I-​880!

While I wouldn’t call Sitcom’s furniture champagne on a beer budget, I think it’s a safe sparkling wine. Anyone who thinks that this place isn’t a bargain ought to stick to Craigslist. I’d like to compare my experience at Sitcom to my experience at Jennifer Convertibles in SF — the 2-​Buck Chuck of furniture:

Pushy sales guy gave me an earful about not buying their 5-​year warranty for an extra $ 170 (if you read the reviews on this place on Unilocal,everyone says it’s BS and not worth it). Asked me at least 4 times if I was absolutely sure that I didn’t want to purchase the matching ottoman for an extra $ 100. No I do not want the damn ottoman! No means no, sir! NO, means NO.
Sitcom:
The rep rang me up and took $ 20 off the order because the warehouse guy at first thought that the floor model was the only one they had left in stock of my chosen kitchen table. Didn’t once try to push the chairs that were displayed with the table, or anything else for that matter. It was a quick transaction.
Jennifer:
Couch can be delivered in 2 weeks at the earliest. Delivery is the ONLY option. That’ll be an extra $ 160, btw (plus taxes, of course).
Sitcom:
Rep says the warehouse guy will breakdown the table so we can fit it in my car. Warehouse guy comes to the front and tells the rep that he found the table in stock and boxed in the back. Mind you, she’s already charged me the discounted floor model price, but I’m now getting a brand new, never-​been-​assembled one. No biggie, the discount still stands, sweet!

Tomorrow, my couch will be delivered, and Unilocal reviews have already warned me that I need to do a deep inspection before the delivery truck drives off, or any damage that it may have suffered in transit will be my own problem (this would be true with or without that $ 170 warranty, btw). At least they deliver and assemble for you — that’s nice!
Sitcom:
We couldn’t fit the table into the car in the box it was in. The warehouse guy comes back out and take the parts of the table out of the box to work some kind of magic shape-​shifting to get everything in the car. «He can fit anything in anything,» the rep told my boyfriend, and yeah, I believe her now!
I will totally come back to Sitcom for other furniture needs in the future. If they had sofabeds, I wouldn’t have even bothered with Jennifer Convertibles in the first place. Sitcom’s pieces are modern and unique, and perhaps more importantly, they’re not cheap crap (but they’re pretty reasonably priced, nonetheless!). The people there are helpful but not at all pushy, and I am so damn happy with my table that I know I couldn’t find at $ 100 anywhere else!

this is more for those who have homes with a lot of space. not meant for homes less than 2,000 sq. ft.
sometimes i do find some nice decorative pieces, but thats about it.
service is so so, and sometimes i find myself alone inside a big warehouse.

When I spotted the Unilocal deal for Sitcom Outlet I immediately scooped up two ($ 150 for $ 300) because I knew we would be needing some new things for our new house.
The selection is limited but we found two media consoles that we really liked. We ended up choosing one for $ 250 that was plenty big for our tv, blu ray player wii, etc. with additional drawer storage for all of our movies and games. We also decided to try and find a side table for next to our front door. We found one that was perfect for $ 75. We were anticipating paying the balance after using the two Unilocal deal codes but the woman told us that she would just round down our total to $ 300. Seriously?! Who does that?! So we walked out with $ 325 + tax of furniture for $ 150. Score!

I found out about this place when I saw a discount coupon in my mailbox. I was glad that there was such place in Oakland and since hubby and I are hoping to get new furniture but didn’t want to spend too much, we were glad to find out about this.
We checked out this place one Saturday afternoon and it was not easy to find at all. The place was almost empty when we got there. We liked the furniture that they have and how much they cost.
We’ll definitely come back when it’s time to redecorate our house.

Coming here, I was a bit disappointed since I’ve read about all the great deals to be discovered here. No bargains to be had when I visited on Friday. Everything here look of good quality. I saw a desk for $ 80 with a few dings and scratches. Another one for $ 350 and yet another for $ 240. The couches were pretty modern and cool-​looking for about $ 400. There was a big chest of drawers that looked good but didn’t glide on rollers for $ 300. I liked the screens for $ 80. I really did expect to haul something home for my bedroom. Maybe I went at a bad time?
The address should be 850 42^nd Avenue… the OTHER building, and the insides look much smaller when I stepped foot inside. I was one of two people perusing the furniture on the floor. Maybe it gets busier on Saturdays and Sundays?

Never mind that the Sitcom warehouse is located in the armpit of the East Bay… or that the showroom isn’t super fancy, they have quality furniture (modern pieces a la Pottery Barn/​Ethan Allen) and sell them for Ikea like prices. Why get the cheap particle board stuff when you can get the real thing?
My Groupon was about to expire, and I needed a lounge chair for my room. They had a lot of nice pieces – some great dining sets, leather chairs, bedframes, and decorative items – and I just happened to luck into the perfect lounge chair – color, height, size, everything. The chair was priced at $ 99, and the $ 25 Groupon was valued at $ 100. They took my voucher, and no added taxes were charged. I backed my car into the loading station and put the packaged box into my trunk – for $ 25, I felt like I was stealing. I was in and out of the place in 20 minutes.
When I got home, I had to assemble the chair, but compared to the jigsaw projects of some Ikea furniture, this was very manageable. Check this place out if you’re in the market for some new furniture. They recently updated their website, which is a pretty good indicator of the items you will likely see in their warehouse. If you sign up for their mailing list, you’ll be notified in advance of their specials and new inventory.

We had no problem finding this outlet thanks to all the advice from fellow Unilocalers and our Garmin. It’s best to enter the intersection of High St and Wattling St.
Came here on a weekday and it was completely empty. Nice if you like to shop in peace and quiet with no lines. The sales people were friendly and very eager to assist (probably because there was no one else in the store). Sitcom has good quality furniture using real wood and the prices were reasonable. The selection was pretty good although I didn’t see too many bedroom set choices for queen beds.

Crappy location, crappy hours, and totally unwilling to be flexible about ordering over the phone. I had a Groupon, and have pneumonia and am not in any condition to hit their store today before it expired. I know what I want, and asked if I could just order it over the phone, give them the groupon number, pay the difference and have someone swing by and pick it up with the groupon tomorrow. Nope. Can’t do that. Sorry.
Ok, I lost out on a $ 25 groupon, but they just lost out on a $ 500 sale.

I’m not sure if Sitcom’s overall 4.5 star rating is warranted. Then again, a rating of one-​star because of a near-​accident on the highway or address inaccuracy is a bit much — save the bad review for highway construction or Google mapping. That said, Sitcom’s entrance is on Wattling Street, between 42^nd and High streets.
Perhaps my expectations were too high from all the 5-​star reviews, but was disappointed in the offerings. Sitcom definitely caters to home staging and the pieces reflect that: mostly big and mostly unoffensive.
Some of the Unilocal photos look much better than what I saw, so maybe I arrived on an off day. I wouldn’t classify the look as Pottery Barn — it’s much more modern (think SOMA furniture stores). if you’re decorating from the ground up, rather than looking for specific items (e.g., a side chair) you’ll have better luck and more options.
Still the prices are pretty good for the value — if you find something you want. So 3.5 stars.

The area around this store is Insanely dangerous area in terms of driving.
My wife and I literally almost died in a car crash trying to get to redeem a Groupon for this store because of the insane cluster-​fuck of the repairs they’re doing on the surrounding roads and freeways and the fact that the address they give for this store is NOT a viable street address.
Google Maps, GPS, etc, none of it is of any use in finding this place because the address does not correspond with a location that you can actually reach by taking public roads.

I still have no idea how to actually get to this place because their address is wrong, and I doubt I’ll be going back seeing as how I literally almost died in a car crash trying to get here.

If I had a Cal King Mattress, I would have brought home a bed for $ 99. Honey asked me why I didn’t get one anyway? Seriously babe, we would need new sheets, bedding, pillows, mattresses, bedroom. LOL.
What I did need was barstools. So I had purchased 2 $ 100 vouchers ($ 200) for $ 50. I found 4 barstools for $ 85 each. So let’s do the math. $ 340 + $ 50 spent on Groupon = $ 390 minus the $ 200 vouchers = $ 190 out the door for 4 barstools = $ 47.50 each. Yeah!

Using my Groupon Voucher was EASY!

A friend referred me to Sitcom. Its everthing she described in terms of high quality, contemporary styles and cheap. They have really nice stuff and I was able to purchase my coffee table and media stand here on my first visit. I got both for $ 300! I plan to visit Sitcom periodically to check out any new shipments.
They are a good variety of furniture from bed frames, media stands, coffee tables, sofas and bedroom furniture pieces. They also have home décor scattered around for sale. I have my eye on the mini bar which is dirt cheap too.
The con about this place is that they dont do free shipping. If you see something you like, you should come back with a pick up truck.

The joining of things has happened. Its official. With that came getting rid of bookcases, chairs and things leftover from college that were old and needed a facelift. In search of the perfect buffet on craigslist to no avail, I saw the groupon for Sitcom Furniture and jumped on it in hopes my dream buffet would surface. Well, it did!
First, Sitcom was kind of hard to find. Maybe this was only because I wasn’t familiar with that area, but I circled twice and didn’t see where it was off 42^nd. Its down this side street, which is technically 40^th I think. You cant follow the google directions… like someone else said its on the Alameda side of High Street, a block from 880, off the beaten path among warehouses.
Other than that we came mid day on a Sunday, wandered around for 30 minutes and chose our furniture. They have a big «As Is» section that is great to check out. Things that might have a ding or chip on the back or leg which knocks the price wayyyy down. We got a beautiful piece for more than $ 100 off the ticketed price cause the back had a tiny ding in the leg.
One downside is the buffet I wanted was only sold with the hutch, not separately so I had to go with another option.
Go in knowing some pieces are Ikea quality and some are higher. They have a great price range and tons of beds, dining room tables, chairs etc. They load it into your car for you after you check out and are very helpful! This is a great place to check out if you don’t want to spend a fortune on really nice looking furniture.

I’ll title my first review of Sitcom Outlet…
CHRISTMAS COLORED FURNITURE DEBACLE.
First things first, the positives. Surprisingly well-​made, sturdy, gorgeous furniture. This is not the stuff you’ll find in the Asian furniture stores along International Blvd/​IKEA. Efficient, friendly service. Some of the employees (Will and Lisa) really know their stuff.
Secondly, the neutrals. The selection was only so-​so on a Saturday morning… I was informed that most of their business comes from people staging homes. However, the stuff that was on the floor was tasteful and modern… I liked almost every piece I perused through. So if you want the good stuff, come early in the week! The prices ranged from ridiculously low to moderate. It’s in my «expert» opinion that none of the furniture was overpriced vs. the quality.
Thirdly…the furniture debacle. Sitcom Outlet pretty much ruined my beautiful summer weekend, but I’m so in love with my new matching, grown-​up furniture that I’ll cut them a break.
As A. T has stated in a previous review, do not, I repeat DO NOT LEAVE THE STORE WITHOUT CHECKING YOUR ORDER FIRST. I ordered a brown loveseat, lounge chair and matching ottoman all in chocolate brown, paid through the nose to get it delivered, it arrives at my apartment, I open the packaging to find… a GREEN loveseat and a RED lounge chair… wth?! I’m so angry that I used a run-​on sentence. By the time I figured this out, their office was closed for the day. I had to wait until Monday for them to drop off my couches in the correct color AND I had to use my lunchtime to wait for the mover. Lisa informed me that the problem lies in non English-​speaking workers in back mixing up the furniture, and that the problem would be corrected soon.
What I’m really ticked off about — I was offered no compensation for my troubles. Cmon now, at least throw in a vase or a pillow!

You KNOW how much I love outlet stores (me and the le Crueset outlet are arranging a direct deposit thing)! I just had to check it out.
Funny thing, since adding two new people to our family, we’ve been looking for chairs. We had three chairs from my dining set that I bought during my Sebastopol year, a green upholstered chair that my folks rescued from Carolyn L across the street from the old house in South San Francisco, and a folding chair that no one wants to sit on that Dr. R. drags into the kitchen to reach the Courvoisier because he knows that stands my hair on end. We’ve looked for chairs at couple of different places, but haven’t found anything we liked for the price we wanted to pay.
Just so you know, Sitcom’s warehouse is in a highly industrial area on the not-​Alameda side of High Street, a block from 880. It’s a little creepy area, but nothing you can’t do in broad daylight. We walked into the staging area and they had a fairly decent amount of furniture. We found three possible chair sets. We picked one that was dark brown and leather. Here’s the amazing thing, they were 80 bucks apiece for these solid, beautiful chairs. We saw chairs ½ as good as these for over 150 dollars each at the Smith and Hawkin Outlet up in Vacaville!
They helped us fit these four chairs in the back of the Jeep along with another chair that came in a box. This was no small task, because the Jeep had to hold Dr. R., me, Mama Joon, and Baba AND the five chairs. It did, just barely.
Just to recap, Sitcom is a modern furniture store that usually sells over the internet and to retail outlets. Once a week (Saturday), it opens its warehouse and sells floor models and discontinued items. The styles are fresh and modern as well as some classic and well-​made. Some vases and accessories as well. I know I will be back for a coffeetable soon!
