You know those grubby low-end Panda Express knock-offs where everything is glistening with too much grease, they don’t quite care enough to trim the fat off, it’s chewy, and the flavor is flat? This is one of those. Except with a bar at night. Walk the extra 2 blocks to Chinatown, lazyass.

My husband and I were so excited that Lucky Panda was opening because we are walking distance. You never know what you’re going to get with all the Chinese Food places because some are really good and some are very, very bad. Lucky Panda hasn’t disappointed us a bit. We have had consistently very good food(well, one night our stuff was a little chewy but is was because we showed up 15 minutes before closing time). They also have a funky little lounge bar in the back(who knew?) and we sometimes like to go back, sit at the bar, put a few drinks down(when the person behind the bar finally figures out what we’re trying to order) and eat right there at the bar. It’s fun. The only thing we’d like to see is MORE people hanging out there. It’s a cool little place if you give it a chance and the food is always hot and the drinks are usually strong. What more can you ask for?

Three stars so far because they just opened their restaurant yesterday. It’s good Chinese food when I don’t have time to go all the way to Chinatown on my lunch break. Staff is very friendly mainly because its a family run business, but the décor could use a little help. It’s kind of bare bones apart from the ‘good luck statues’ and shrines. Overall, it’s a good addition to the Jack London area and it’s very close to me, so I really can’t complain.
