At Intuit Academy of Music, we are grafting the traditions of blues, jazz, rock, and hip hop to modern digital trends and technologies. Under one roof our music school brings together the DJs, composers, and producers with the instrumentalists of tomorrow.

Lessons at I.A.M. begins with the student. Our teachers subscribe to no predetermined curriculum, instead working with the individual student to help define their personal goals and refine their skills to meet them.

We currently offer guitar, bass, piano, banjo, mandolin and dobro lessons with more instrument options to be arriving soon. On the digital side, our instructors work with Ableton Live, Logic, Reason, and Garageband as well as tablet and smartphone production.

With our in-​house record label we are looking to stoke the Oakland music scene, building a community of students and families to foster a love of music that connects the past with the future.

Meet the Business Owner

Luke D.

Business Owner

Luke began his teaching career biking around his south Boston suburb giving guitar lessons in high school. After studying jazz guitar and film scoring at Berklee College of Music in his native Boston he relocated to the west coast to complete a B.A. in bass performance and composition in Portland, Oregon with a brief stint studying West African drumming and dancing in Ghana. Since then he’s done several laps around the country, performing with a myriad of artists covering everything from metal to folk and done extensive work with the national School of Rock program. He recently relocated to the Bay Area where he’s opened the Intuit Academy of Music to join his passion of teaching and performing under one roof.
