Julia teaches at Acme House of Music (4444 Piedmont Ave) or will travel to a student’s home, if possible.

Voice Lessons:

In voice lessons Julia teaches how to obtain the sound a student is seeking while implementing proper technique. She can teach many styles including classical, pop, rock, jazz, blues, musical theater and folk.

Julia can work with her students on:

–proper breathing

–projection

–healthy singing

–ear-​training/​singing harmony

–songwriting

–stage presence

–the audition process

–microphone technique.

Piano Lessons:

For piano lessons Julia can use various methods depending on the student. She tends to use either the Faber method or the Shaum method accompanied by pieces that the student is interested in, whether it be a theme song, a classical piece, blues, or a pop song.

You can work on:

–reading music/​sight-​reading

–music theory/​reading chord charts

–songwriting

–memorization

–ear-​training

–building a repertoire

–a love of music!

Established in 2006.

Julia recently moved to the Bay Area from Portland, Oregon where she had a studio of over 40 students of all ages. Teaching is incredibly important to her and she is excited about rebuilding her studio again in a new area!

Business Owner

Julia has been teaching private voice lessons since she began her studies in vocal technique, performance and composition in 2006. She holds a music degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz under the instruction of Brian Staufenbiel and Nicole Paiemont, and has performed with many ensembles, opera choruses, vocal jazz groups, musical theater productions and popular music groups in the San Francisco bay area and in Portland, Oregon where she also studied piano with Jenny Conlee of ‘The Decemberists.’
