Conscientious Cleaners

Rachel is an incredibly hard working person. I hired her to do a move-​in cleaning as there was a lot of Sheetrock dust left from the remodel on our new house along with all the other dirt that goes with remodeling. She got into every nook and cranny, every corner, ledge, edge, vent, drawer, cabinet, you name it, she cleaned it, vacuumed it and mopped it. Floor to ceiling. She worked her butt off for 13 hours straight. The place looks immaculate. Hey, I was in the Army, believe me, I know clean. This place is «squared away» as the saying goes. Really impressed with her work ethic. I would definitely hire her again and highly recommend her service. And to those d bags that gave her a bad review, you just sound like cheapskates!

My life is busy. And, I like my house clean. I have enough time for tidying, and doing a surface clean, but there’s a kind of cleaning that requires you to devote several hours to a project. And, frankly, I’d rather spend that time with my kids, or my spouse, or growing my business. After a few years of this kind of surface cleaning — well, the house was kind-​of grossing me out.
I have hired cleaning services before only to find that they did some really good tidying and surface cleaning. Not terrible, but not what I need.
So — I bit the dollar bullet and hired Rachel. Yes. She is more expensive than most, but only because she insists on spending more time. Her hourly fee is very low.
My house is incredibly clean. I mean — the fan blades, the filters in the hood above the stove, behind everything, under everything — deep deep clean. It feels like I just moved into a brand new apartment. And, I didn’t make the list of things for her to clean. She made her own list, and cleaned so much better than I could have — even if I had the same amount of time.
If what you need is someone to come and tidy — yes, you an get the job done in less time. But, what I’ve come to realize is that I wasn’t looking for a person who can vacuum and rearrange our trinkets. I was looking for a refreshing clean that makes me feel great about coming home. That’s what Rachel does.

I hired Rachel to clean my apartment after I moved out and I couldn’t be happier. She SCRUBBED the entire place from floor to ceiling. She was great to work with and very accommodating with my schedule. At first I thought her quote was a little high. But then after I saw that she literally spent all day (8+ hours) cleaning my place I wish I would have tipped her more. If you need a house cleaner stop searching Unilocal and call Rachel. You will not be disappointed!!!

I was so disappointed with the entire experience.
I had an appointment set for 8am on a Friday. We were selling our condo and needed the bathroom and kitchen cleaned. We had just painted a layer of fresh paint, new flooring, and new base board. The place was empty and clean but the kitchen and bathroom needed cleaning.
Our condo is a 1BD/​1BATH and the bathroom is a half bath with a small sink and our kitchen is small. The entire condo is 600 sq. ft with the majority of that space used in the loving room and bedroom.
The bad experience started with Rachel being 45 minutes late. This would have bothered me as much if I still lived in our condo but I commuted there and got there on time.
When she arrived late, she had nothing to say about it.(Which is fine, whatever, I got over it!) When she came in to inspect the condo, I showed her what I wanted clean… the bathroom, the kitchen, and asked if she would remove the paint specks on our new floors (I had already removed some, they just scratch off). When I asked about the paint specks, she replied with «I don’t do that». (Okay, I guess I’ll do it myself– I thought you cleaned homes!!!– Whatever, I can live with doing that myself) Then after a poor inspection, she quoted me way more then the other quotes I had gotten previously. I had gotten my last apartment cleaned for $ 80 less and the place was bigger! After I discussing the price (which I hate doing and usually never negotiate but since she was late and I would have to finish cleaning after she left— Why should I pay more then most cleaning services). She said that «This is an inconvenience for you and an inconvenience for me.
WAIT?! HUH?! —– An inconvenience for you? I’m giving you my business and money. I just wasn’t having it after that. I have never had such poor service from ANY service company.
Rachel is unprofessional and just straight up rude. I ended up cleaning the whole place by myself because we had an open house the next day.
DO NOT USE HER SERVICES— unless you want to waste your time & energy. Hope this helps someone.

Today was the first time I’ve used Rachel’s cleaning service. This is a decent sized house –3.5 bedrooms (one is tiny) + 2.5 baths and every room was seriously dirty. Rachel and her helper did an extraordinary job of deep cleaning this house today. They worked intensely for 12 solid hours each, yet were thoroughly professional and quite pleasant to interact with at all times. Rachel’s price wasn’t cheap but it was totally fair. And at the end I feel I got far more than just a clean house. I got a house that had been cleaned with love and respect by people who take great pride in doing outstanding work. I’m honored to recommend Rache’s service without any qualifications or hesitation. She is awesome. I definitely plan to use her service again.

Needed a move-​in clean for the place I was going to rent out. Called Friday, got an estimate Saturday, new place is all clean on Monday when I get back from work!

This review is for a very extreme deep cleaning I needed for a neglected and filthy unit. Let me just say this– Rachel is a cleaning goddess! I paid her $ 550 (and a small tip– I should have tipped more) to deep clean my house in Oakland. I just bought this beautiful, although old and dingy, duplex and I needed my unit on the bottom floor to be cleaned and cleaned well. The apartment literally had preserved newspapers from 1955 in the built in drawers and had been smoked in for decades and decades. Needless to say, the house was icky and sticky. I needed to get it ready to be painted and for me (a clean freak) to move in. I found Rachel on Unilocal and she came over that night to give me a quote. I knew my 7-​room house was a real monster of a project but she was fair and square about the price. And let me just say, nothing was missed– I mean nothing. My written list I left her of everything I asked to be cleaned (inside cupboards, tops of doors and moldings) she got it all! Not to mention the 1910 Wedgwood stove she scoured… she worked from 8am to 8:30pm for two whole days on the place. She is not cheap but she is fair– if you think you can get a better deal somewhere else, good luck! Go get some sketchy ladies who don’t speak English, can’t read your list and don’t do what you ask– your loss! Rachel followed my directions to a «T», was courteous, fast, honest and perfect. If you’re going to get a good cleaning, treat yourself and get the best!

Rachel gave our place a deep clean last week, and she did an amazing job.
She takes the time to really make everything spotless, and you get to come home to a house that looks like a million bucks. My 5 year old toaster oven looks brand new like i just bought it. Seriously.
Aside from doing a great job, she is really nice, and an easy person to have in your home.

Rachel is meticulous and always on time. We moved into our new home and the kitchen was a mess, especially the fridge and stove. I honestly thought they wouldn’t be cleanable. She worked her magic and presto, you have a brand new house. The only gripe are the prices, but you get what you pay for!

Rachel cleaned our apartment a few months ago and did a great job. She spent about ten hours, much much longer than anticipated (it was a small apt kitchen surfaces only, two bathrooms, and a hallway), but the final price was reasonable considering the results. We’d definitely use her again!

was moved and cleaned, from top to bottom and under. She did not miss a spot or space and my home looks like a show place. My house was not dirty but when every inch has been cleaned there is a sence of pride that is rekindled. I highly recommend her. Be prepared that since she does such a through job it will take time but she will not stop until every inch is clean!!!

This cleaning service is top notch. I’m 9 months pregnant and expecting a baby any day. My husband and I wanted our house to be clean for the upcoming wonderful chaos. I needed a deep clean for our 1 bed 1.5bath apt because my parents are coming in to town this weekend. With a judgmental mom, I needed someone to go crazy with the cleaning.
Rachel couldn’t give me a quote over the phone, but took a look at the place and said it would be $ 200. I took the chance on her and I am SO thrilled that I did. She actually stayed from 8am to 8pm and busted her tail to get my place organized, dust and shower grime free. I trust her and would recommend her to my friends

I had read the one negative view of Rachel but spoke to her on the phone and she sounded nice, so I had her over for a short walk-​through and estimate, and knew right away that she was the right choice for cleaning my super dusty/​dingy little house.
I’m so glad I found Rachel! I don’t think I’ve ever lived in a place that is as clean as my house now is. She worked for nearly 12 hours straight, too, and towards the end we chatted a bit and I really enjoyed her positive attitude and boldness (she moved here from Belize and is making it on her own, working while raising a daughter!)
If there were any slight areas for improvement I would say that you should ask her first if you need anything already at your house– for instance, rags, paper towels, etc. Rachel uses her own cleaning supplies but was surprised when I didn’t have paper towels and had to have someone bring her some for the day. But that was a minor blip.
Highly recommended!

Rachel is the real deal. This is the hardest working woman in the East Bay. I will admit that since I moved from NYC I have not had my apartment professionally cleaned.
At a certain point, a girl has to recognize her weaknesses. I am probably as much as of a domestic goddess as Lucille Ball on one of the bad episodes as far as cleaning is concerned.
Rachel was kind, fair in her appraisal of the cost of cleaning my apartment, professional and incredibly thorough in her work. She’s an honest person and I immediately trusted her when she came into my home.
Rachel came to my apartment at 9am and was there into the evening since my apartment needed a deep clean.
She was a pleasure to work with and I will continue to engage her services frequently. I highly recommend this woman for your cleaning needs.

Rachel came to clean my 450 sq foot apartment for a good price considering it had been 6 months since the last professional had been there. She arrived at 9 and left at 7. I was impressed by much of her efforts (windows, oven, floors). I was not exactly happy by the ongoing price estimate being identical to the deep clean price but admit that it’s hard to find decent people who can do this job. I too saw a few things that were missed or overlooked due to priority.
The only real con was having someone still there when I got home; I never question whether the cleaners actually work the entire time at your place but given the size of my place 9a-​7p seemed a bit long.
I will call Rachel again. She was quite lovely.

Very disappointing experience.
I called just to inquire about a price range for a monthly cleaning of my 1-​bedroom. For some reason, house cleaners are harder to pin down for an estimate than car salesman, and require that they come and view your place before they even give you a ballpark figure.
This woman — Rachel — turns up at my place, and after looking around she asks what I am looking for. I say, «not much, just wondering what it would cost for a monthly pickup — floor, dusting, bathroom. The place is tiny, and never really gets that dirty to begin with, but I work a lot and thought this might be worth doing.»
Instead of giving me a number — any number — she asks me what I think I should pay. I stand there awkwardly for a moment, and then give her my ideal monthly price. I figure it’s low… but my place is small enough to clean myself. As I said to her several times: I was just investigating this as a possibility.
So… I give her my ideal number, and she busts out laughing! A nice, long, hearty laugh right in my face. She might even have wiped away a tear. This woman who I have just met is standing in my apartment, laughing in my face. I feel like an idiot. She says, «Well you’ll have to get someone else to do it for that price.» I reply, «Well, you asked me what I would like to pay. This whole exercise is to find out what you charge for your service — will you please tell me that now?»
She eventually gives me her rate, and it’s about 20% higher than the other quotes I had gotten. So, even if she hadn’t been totally rude and shown about as much customer service sense as a six-​year-​old, I wouldn’t have used her overpriced service.
There’s better out there — save yourself the cash and hassle and go find someone else.

Look no further.

She came the very next day and did a move-​in cleaning for me. She went to work on that dirt and has the place looking like a hotel. She needed to see the place to do an estimate, and her rate was really reasonable. She was there from about 9 – 5!
Our family’s long-​time carpet cleaning guy came by and I overheard him complimenting her on how she was the real deal.
Rachel just seems like an overall honest, hard-​working woman, and I always respect that. So thankful to have found her!
I told her I would be happy to write another positive review and keep her in business. I’m sure I’ll be calling her again.

Rachel is in my house right now, shirt sleeves rolled up and wiping the white off of rice if you dig. She is extremely professional, uses green products, and the areas she has already cleaned are sparkling… who knew I had bling? Thank you Rachel for revealing the light!
