History

Established in 2010.

Kristen began her career in event planning over 10 years ago. She learned the ins-and-outs of both the creative and business aspects of events while working for ProSports and Entertainment, who orchestrated large-scale events including the Long Beach Marathon and the Santa Barbara Concourse de Elegance, and I.D.O Events in Santa Barbara. Later in her career, Kristen started interning and assisting seasoned industry professionals and learning the intricacies involved in planning and coordinating a wedding.

Kristin Black and Stop and Stare Events deserve more than the 5 stars I could give them! I had the pleasure of working with Kristen in coordinating my recent wedding (on 5÷30÷15). We were married in a rustic canyon that was beautiful, but presented quite a few challenges given the remote nature of the wedding and the restrictions present. From our very first phone call, I knew I was in good hands with Kristen. She is incredibly organized and has a way of putting you at ease. Her problem solving skills are top notch and her attitude is always positive.
I worked with both Kristen and Dakota of DJ Sota Entertainment. Together, they worked out the perfect timeline for the evening and ensured everything ran smoothly. They kept us on time all night — almost down to the minute. The entire wedding party and both sets of parents were also very much at ease regarding the flow of events due to the timeline Kristen put together and the walk through we did the day before the wedding.
Since my mom and I had a number of handmade touches we wanted to incorporate throughout the wedding, we were worried about execution on the day of the wedding, given we would be unavailable. Kristen absolutely put us at ease and executed every little detail to perfection.
I could not be happier that we hired Kristen, and I feel indebted to her for helping me have the perfect wedding.

Stop and Stare Events did a spectacular job in Coordinating my daughter’s wedding on May 30, 2015. We used her as our «month of» Coordinator, which meant that Kristen had to step in 30 days before the wedding, understand our vision and help to execute it… and she did JUST THAT!!! She developed our Timeline for the day of, which went off perfectly and coordinated the flow of the evening to perfection. Kristen is a beautiful young woman inside and out and helped to make my daughter’s wedding the perfect memory that she wanted. On the day of the wedding, she was there all day and night and worked tirelessly. She tired assistants who were professional, friendly, competent and also worked tirelessly. I would NOT hesitate to recommend Kristen or to use her again for any important event.

We hired Kristen and Stop and Stare Events for our April wedding at Malibou Lake Mountain Club. At first we weren’t sure if we needed a day-of-coordinator, especially considering all of the other costs of wedding planning. However, hiring Kristen was one of the best decisions we made — she was the one of our favorite and most valuable vendors we worked with and I would pay 5x as much for the quality of service she provided.
Over the course of the months leading up to our wedding we had several phone calls, and met in person to do a venue walk-through. She was extremely organized, professional and helpful without being overwhelming. Time and time again, Kristen went above and beyond what we expected: from reaching out to all our other vendors to make sure our wishes were honored and any issues were ironed out, to setting up an elaborate and beautiful Persian wedding spread for our ceremony.
We would not hesitate to recommend Kristen and Stop and Stare Events to anyone looking for a wedding coordinator. She is great at what she does and a really lovely person on top of that. Thanks for making our wedding so special!

Stop and Stare Events was such a pleasure to work with. They were extremely attentive and made sure I was happy and stress free throughout the entire process. When attempting to plan a large event; whether a birthday party or (believe it or not) a friends wedding, I never realized how hard I was working until I hired Stop and Stare Events to help me with my Father and Uncles double birthday party. What a load off my shoulders!!! With many relatives coming from all over and friends from long ago, I really wanted to throw an unforgettable event for everyone to enjoy. Without Kristen (Stop and Stare Events), I think my stress would have been through the roof and I know I would have never thought of all the small details that she not only brought to my attention, but TOOK CARE OF. I used these guys for a corporate event and I couldn’t believe how smooth it went. There was a problem with the catering but I didn’t find out about until after the event. Kristen was able to have everything run glitch-free even when problems did come up.
Their communication before hand gave me assurance the event would go smoothly. And it did! 5 stars

Best wedding! I was a groomsmen recently for a friends wedding and would say that this was the best wedding I’ve ever been to. Stop and stare events coordinated the wedding and they were amazing. They made sure all the guests had a great time, and also made sure the bride and grooms were always taken care of.

Kristen is a five star coordinator. I can’t say enough good things about her.
I hired Kristen after she was recommended by DJ Sota Entertainment. I didn’t know if I needed a coordinator but it was the best money I ever spent and I’m so glad she was there. There are so many details a bride needs to think about and she took care of everything. I think the most important part was so took that stress off my shoulders and I didn’t worry she I had 100% confidence in her to make the night seamless. And oh man did she deliver.
She went to our venue on her own time with the DJ and they mapped out a floor plan for us. Who does that?!! Kristen does. It was something I was stressing about and she just took that right off my plate. Then we had a décor meeting and she went home and did a mock up table on her own dollar to give me an idea of how our tables would look.
She also gave me some great ideas on how to tie together my theme with some backlighting, pipe and drape and some small floral arrangements. She helped me save so much money buy being creative and honest about what I really needed and didn’t need.
She took care of ordering my floral arrangements (she drove all the way to Fullerton for me!), ordered napkins/linens, ordered and coordinated pipe and drape, ordered my seating chart banner and affixed it, coordinated my cake delivery an payment, coordinated my party rental delivery, venue details everything my god she is incredible.
The week of my wedding she offered to pick up all my décor and bring it to the venue for us. That was seriously the best thing ever. I had no clue how I was going to get everything there and she just took that off my plate in one swoop.
The night before my wedding she emailed me all the balances left due and made my accounting easy and straightforward. I put all the amounts due in little envelopes and my mother in law delivered them to her on our wedding day.
On the day of my wedding she didn’t bother me with any details, she took care of EVERYTHING. It was the most relaxing day. When my husband and I arrived for our grand entrance I was stunned it all looked so magical. The day was perfect I wouldn’t have changed a single thing.
After the reception was over she stayed to break down and pack up everything. When I came the next day everything was labeled and organized.
I’m so impressed with Stop and Stare Events. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. Thank you Kristen!

As photographers, we rely on the professionalism of the coordinator and DJ to help make the day as smooth as possible. Stop and Stare Events delivered for Kristin and Nick’s wedding at Bommer Canyon in Irvine, California.

Kristen was the coordinator and Dakota was the DJ. The venue had many logistical challenges for Dakota and Kristin to work through. It required them to be mobile and adapt to the unique setting. Kristen did an excellent job with decorating the venue in a timely matter. Dakota respected the timeline & the kept the events of the day moving along so smoothly we ended up being ahead of schedule, which never happens at weddings!
We definitely recommend Stop and Stare Event for all future brides. You can rest assured that your day will run as smooth as possible & your guests will have a great time.

I was referred to Kristen by a friend who also used her services and only had great things to say about her. After personally having Kristen as our wedding coordinator, I can confirm that she was great at her job and was really nice while doing it.
We hired her a little late because we thought we could take care of everything by ourselves and didn’t think we needed a coordinator. Boy were we ever wrong. To make a long story short, she went above and beyond her job «specifications» in order to make sure we had a nice and beautiful wedding. She even helped us after the wedding was over (hence her job was done) when we had some issues with the venue that our wedding was held at. I’m talking days, not hours. As the owner of a photo booth rental service, I find myself at many wedding receptions. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Kristin and working with her at several of them. She’s always friendly and has an excellent smile that makes you feel welcome in her company.
If you’re in need of a wedding coordinator, I wouldn’t recommend you to anyone before her. She is always punctual, well organized, attentive to details, and knows how to effectively keep an event on schedule. All of these elements are crucial when planning your event and especially during your event.
There’s a reason why each reviewer here has given her 5 stars. To put it simply, she’s worth it and has earned every one of them. =)

I hired Kristen as a day-of wedding coordinator. From the moment I hired her, Kristen was extremely attentive and sensitive to my bridal needs. We were on a tight budget originally and a Day-Of Coordinator was one of the last things that we had planned on. But as every couple knows, once you start planning a wedding you begin to realize that it is impossible to do everything on your own while enjoying your big day! I am SO thankful that we found Kristen and decided to use a coordinator because it really allowed us to focus on our wedding day and each other!
We had spoken to several planners/coordinators and most of them weren’t willing to work with our vision and seemed set in their ways and pretentious. Kristen was so down-to-Earth and pleasant when we met with her that we knew right away that we had found the perfect coordinator for us! She was patient, organized, beyond helpful and just a pleasant person to be around.
While we did a ton of DIY, it was so amazing to have Kristen there to offer advice or even just a calming voice when my neuroses kicked in :) She was always checking in at the perfect times without being overbearing and we were never made to feel as if we were burdening her.
On the big day, she would casually check in as needed, but pretty much had everything under control and that is in large part due to her planning ahead of time. She was calm, cool & collected all day and a consummate professional. We also took a lot of pride in our «vision» & DIY aspects and she really brought everything to life, just as we had envisioned. I received many compliments about the entire wedding and I can honestly say that it would not have been possible without the awesome work of Kristen at Stop and Stare Events. Anyone would be lucky to have her working their event!

I am super Type-A and plan-y, so when I was told I was required to get a day-of-coordinator for my venue I wasn’t very happy. I spoke with a couple different coordinators who completely overwhelmed me and filled me with unnecessary anxiety. About nine months before my wedding date, my DJ referred a friend of his… KRISTEN BLACK! The first minute I spoke with her, I knew she was perfect. She kept everything so organized and controlled. She never overwhelmed me and she would give me amazing feedback when I needed a second opinion (that wasn’t my mothers — love you mom)!
The weekend of, I was a ball of excitement. I needed the support and to hand over the control… I realized that Kristen was the best money spent. She kept the whole night moving and looked like she was having fun while doing it. I would HIGHLY recommend Kristen. She is beyond phenomenal — made to do this! Trust me, you would never look back!

The best money I’ve ever spent! Even thought I hired her just for the day, Kristen made sure to regularly check in with me to see how the planning process was going.
Thanks to her, the wedding day went by very smoothly! Having Kristen there to oversee everything and keep track of all the vendors was a blessing.
My hotel provided a day of coordinator but my day would have been a disaster if I had left it up to them to take care of everything. I’m very picky and attention to detail is very important and I was extra picky on my wedding day but Kristen nailed it.
If you’re in the Orange County area she is the person you should hire, worth every penny!

Kristen, of Stop and Stare Events, came on to my wedding as a day-of coordinator just 2 weeks before my wedding day and I couldn’t have picked a better person. She went far beyond all duties and expectations to make our day seamless.
We had a DIY wedding, with a lot of little details and she made sure everything was done and set up and everything ran smoothly. From running around pre-ceremony, setting up the wine bottles and sticking the flowers out (we had simple florals so she acted as a florist too!), to cleaning up to get out by the deadline, she was phenomenal throughout.
I would recommend her in a heartbeat and that means a lot coming from me. I am also a coordinator in the business. She was really a dream to work with and you won’t be disappointed hiring her for your coordinating needs.
