Lilies & Spikes Kids and Teens Hair Salon and Spa

I took a chance and booked a small Glam party of 4 for my 6 year old without checking out the salon prior to the party date. We booked the Calla Lilies package (party up-​do & Lily mani/​pedi) for 2 hrs. It was the perfect little party. The girls felt pampered and glammed up with gold dust in their hair. I would definitely do this again.

I love this place. They listen closely to what the parent wants and they’re very patient. My daughter is easy and she was thrilled. My son (4) is much tougher and has actually drawn blood during hair cuts. He brought in photos of Clark Kent and Superman and the staff did an amazing job. He thought he was Superman. It was the best day of his life. Thanks, Lilies and Spikes!

We went for (1^st) manicures for my children yesterday. I called as soon as they opened and they were able to see us within 20 minutes. Very friendly, and prompt. I got the slight impression that they run a very tight schedule for employees, but our experience was great, probably because we were the 2^nd customers of the day. The mani/​pedi area could be tidier, and I was expecting some guidance or ideas on desig/​colors for my kids since it was their 1^st time ever, but it was a fun day and will definitely be coming back.

Lillies and Spikes is a great places for the kids. But also for eyebrow threading. One of the few salons that have threading. I am very picky the way and who does my eyebrows. Rosy does great threading. I have been a client of hers for a very long time (by the way, I only like threading for my eyebrows and face).
Plus, I have been there and seen the hair cuts done on many kids. Including my daughter. Rosy and Maria doing these great cuts. Love the cute cuts and styles these kids get.

I have now gotten two hair cuts from Angelica at this salon and I could not be happier! My son is two years old and we bounced around from place to place for awhile before we came here. He hated haircuts and he would scream and most of the time they couldn’t even finish the cut. After that I looked at specific kid’s places and this came up so I figured why not. She did a great job! She’s calm, quick and does a great haircut! No more crying! I definitely recommend her.

My daughter loves this place her stylist is Ana she’s amazing with kids. Ana makes hair cuts fun and easy on the parent i dont have to worry, Ana is the reason one major reason I go there. My daughter looks forward to her hair cuts. The only thing is that Ana has not been there lately hopefully next time she’s there.

Took our son here for his first haircut. Three years old, long hair, didn’t know what to expect. We tried, unsuccessfully, to get our first haircut at a popular kids salon chain in the nw burbs, and after deciding that they sounded clueless, we got out of there.
Angelica took care of us. We talked to her about what we wanted, she gave us an idea or two, and went to work. She was great with the kiddo, confident, and made it look so easy. We’re very happy with his haircut and Angelica, we’ll definitely be back.
Also, like the other reviews mentioned, they have TVs with kid movies, so our son was distracted watching Frozen and barely realized what was happening. Overall, a great experience. Thanks again!

We took my 16 month old son here for his first haircut. The salon is smaller than I thought, but they had a few cute airplane and horse chairs for the little ones. Angelica was great. She not only did a great job cutting my son’s hair, she was great at redirecting and distracting my very curious little one. He loved it! They also have a TV playing children movies to provide some added distraction, if necessary. For a few dollars extra, they will give you a little certificate with picture and attach some of their hair. We had a great experience and will come back!

We adore this place for the kiddos. We did my son’s first haircut there and it was adorable. They have a little lock they keep, a certificate and are great about photos.
The other thing is they have TVs for the kids with childrens movies being played, they understand the timeline is long when working with kids, they adorable little pony chairs and toys.
I’ve also worked it out where one of the kids gets a haircut and I can sneak getting my nails done. Only once but my kids are young so if your little ones are older than 2 you may have more luck!

Just had my son’s first haircut here. They were great. And fast! (Key!) I was very specific that I wanted just a trim on bangs and a little off the back. They did exactly what I wanted and were nice about taking just a smidge at a time so I could agree before they went further. $ 15 is a good value.

So I am not a kid or a teen but I needed a place to get my eyebrows threaded and I didn’t want to go too far. Lilies & spikes was great. I called 10 minutes before closing and they stayed late to fit me in. Rosie took her time and did a good job. So you don’t have to be a kid to go, they do adults and their prices are reasonable.

Took my kids here’s for a haircut and loved it. There wasn’t much of a wait and the girls cutting hair were great with my boys.
The haircut ran about $ 20 a kid not including the tip, they prefer tips in cash and bring change for the old fashion meters. All in all a great place and kid-​approved! Will definitely be back;-)

I took my teenage daughter here to prepare for her 8^th grade graduation that evening. When we explained to the stylist that we wanted to thin out her long curly hair, so it wouldn’t frizz, the stylist looked at us dully. I have curly hair too, so I suggested maybe long layers. Again, same stare. My daughter said she would like her hair to remain curly (often stylists blow it out) just not frizzy. The stylist told her «well your hair is curly.» When my 13 year old tried to explain again how she wanted it to look, the stylist interrupted her and said loudly «it is curly, so it will be curly.» At this point I said, well it has been straight before after a haircut (ever heard of blown out or flat iron?)
We probably should have bolted, but her graduation was that night and we’d had great luck at Clydon Salon (the sister salon to this place) so we gave it a chance. My daughter ended up with an okay haircut but get this — super frizzed out, straight hair that was NOT curly! Ooh the irony. Then she asked my daughter if she was going to get her hair done for graduation! My daughter was very upset. I figured out the stylist combed it out to cut and then did not style it properly afterwards. (i.e. wet it, then use product).
We walked down the street to another salon that recommended long layers be cut (apparently the lilies & spike person didn’t do it) and Aveda. We got her hair redone there and she had perfect mermaid curls for graduation!
Long story short — do not go here for anything complicated. Probably fine for little kids.

Love Lilies & Spikes. My two toddler boys go for regular haircuts and always come out looking cuter at a reasonable price — far more reasonable than other children’s salons, or even regular salons. Nunu, Veronica, and Kelly have all been wonderful and patient with my boys, and in turn my boys have been very excited to get haircuts… and the airplane chair may help, too.
I have also started seeing Nunu for eyebrow threading. I’ve long been getting my eyebrows threaded but this is the first place I’ve found close to home. She has a good eye for what looks best on each face and it’s mostly a painless procedure!

I’ve taken my kids here twice and have had a nice experience each time. Nunu is an excellent stylist and is very sweet. Went there today and both my girls were very pleased with their haircuts. Both left with smiles on their faces!

My 10 yo daughter has very long, thick hair that was a nightmare to tame. She didn’t want to come here and complained the whole drive there.
I brought her here for a hair cut, and it was the best hair she has ever had. They also have a variety of colored hair extensions and feathers. Now she wants to have her birthday party here! Oh did I mention they do parties?
It’s amazing what a good cut can do, her hair is so easy to comb now.
This place is very clean and the décor is so cute. I ended up getting my hair cut too. They also do threading! I’m surprised I only found one review on Unilocal.So this is my daughters «salon» now, even though we live in Elk Grove Village she insists we drive here for all of her beauty needs.

This place is great. Incredibly professional and gave my daughter (who has very long her) a very good haircut. They were also very good with her– talked her through the haircut as it was her first and overall very sweet. As a bonus, the actual salon atmosphere is fantastic. Completely immaculate and super cute décor.
We’ll definitely be back and will be trying out other services like manis and pedis. (Oh– and the price was great too.)
