Oak Park Pediatrics

I love this place and Dr. Hodges. I was looking for a practice that would be close to our house in Galewood when I was pregnant with my twins and saw online that you could make an appointment to «meet the practice». I did and was very impressed with the place, not just in appearance, but in the way that everyone there seemed to really like their job (s) and interact with each other– which is very telling. Once they were born, it has been so easy to schedule appointments, even when both came home at different times from the NICU. I’ve thankfully only had to bring each in once during the walk-​in hours, but it really isn’t a long wait at all and the doctors handling the walk-​ins give just as much attention to you as if you were «theirs» and had a scheduled appointment. I also love that the nurses will take my mom’s calls (she is the nanny) and help her out with questions. And, unlike Northwestern, I have not had any billing problems with this office, which is a blessing!

I wanted to leave a review beacuse I usually only do so when I have bad service but want people to know how great this practice. We have been seeing Dr. Taback since she opened this practice in Oak Park. She is always timely, great with my kids and is really a pleasure to come and see. They are always able to get the kiddos in for problem visits in a timely fashion which is great.

I liked the fact they were so close to my home and that I had read on Unilocal they occasionally would come in on a Sunday if need be which is what sold me, although I never actually experienced it.
The front desk at times (one person in particular) can be quite short with people over the phone and in person, but Vicky and the other nurse that I can’t quite remember her name are sweet as pie and make up for it.
Having multiple children who were patients of this practice for a couple years I also didn’t appreciate that because I had what I thought was a $ 300 outstanding balance which I had been going back and forth with the insurance company about and ultimately turned out to be $ 600 after my insurance paid them, they wouldn’t schedule a same day sick visit and suggested I take my child to the ER, then proceeded to put me on hold and said the doctor would be willing to see me the same day if I paid at least ½ of my balance right then and there.
I understand their not running a charity, but a little empathy goes a very long way when your child’s not feeling well.
I ended up asking for my shot records which they gladly mailed within the week.
Within an hour I found another pediatrician down the street, who saw my child the very same day and ended up switching practices completely. May not be newly remodeled but they always see us no matter what and have hours in the morning when you can call and speak to the dr regarding any concerns.

I find that most people write reviews when they’re disappointed in service — really a terrible perspective on life if you ask me. So, I choose to write reviews when I’m completely impressed by a business/​organization.
The team at Oak Park Peds is incredible. They’re honest, direct and relevant. Understanding that most parents can’t resist the Dr. Google is something doctors probably hate but not here. They know you’re going to do it and it’s not because you don’t trust them, it’s because they are your children and you can’t help but do everything in your power to help them.
We have two kids under two and both have happily seen each of the physicians and their assistants. When we call and ask to schedule and appointment, we really could care less who it is — because they’re all amazing. Ask any question, you’ll get an answer.
We had a bit of a scare with our youngest when she was five weeks and they immediately supported us through the process of getting her to Loyola Pediatric Emergency Room. We were there for a few days (everything was negative, whew!) but they called several times to see how everyone was doing, scheduled follow ups etc. Without being prompted by my husband or I.
It’s what you want… Good doctors (four I think total) that adore helping keep children healthy. That’s what it boils down too. Also, the insurance works with them and we have never had any issues with any of that.

Oak Park Pediatrics has the most wonderful staff. Dr. Thompson saw our son from the time he was born through his 15 month appointment. She was incredibly caring, patient, and detailed. The nurses are all wonderful as well. There was never a ridiculously long wait time, the facilities are nice, and everyone is simply a pleasure to deal with. We recently moved and had to change pediatricians and it breaks my heart because our new one is not NEARLY as excellent as OP Peds has been, so it inspired me to write this review. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

We found Oak Park Pediatrics when I was pregnant with my daughter. The staff is amazing — nurses, front office staff and doctors. We have seen almost all of the team and always feel welcomed and listened to during our visits. Our daughter had a few health issues her first year, and the doctors went out of their way to help and answer our questions. Being a nervous first time mom this was so incredibly helpful. We also really appreciate the open office hours for existing patients — very convenient instead of waiting around all day for a sick appointment.
We recently moved to the Northwest suburbs but decided to stay at Oak Park, we couldn’t ask for better care for our daughter. I highly recommend this practice.

We had a recent appointment with their newest doctor, Dr. Hodges. She was absolutely great. Very direct, intelligent and warm. My 18 week old son absolutely loved her, he couldn’t stop smiling and laughing.
The office is warm and the front desk staff is very nice. We got an appointment within a week of calling, and wait time was less than 10 minutes. The have electronic records which is very convenient. This visit was just a consult, but looking forward to switching over from Lagrange peds for my son’s 6 month visit!

Oak Park Pediatrics are great. They are very responsive. They are always able to answer questions or concerns that we have, usually over the phone. They have office hours in the morning where you can drop in without an appointment if you have a question or concern that requires more than a phone call.
We’ve unfortunately had a couple pseudo emergencies that occurred outside of regular business hours and both times the doctors responded to a voicemail almost immediately and went way above and beyond what was required of them to help us out, saving us hours in an emergency room with an unhappy toddler.

We were interested in transferring our children to Oak Park Pediatrics, but were told they were no longer accepting children under the State of IL medical program. I expressed my dismay over this (our children were foster children through the state of IL) and informed the office that I would write a review letting people know. I then recieved a phone call from the Doctor’s husband. He informed me that he was an attorney and warned me not to post any slanderous information.
After the offices response below, I felt I needed to clarify the chain of events:
Your office staff had originally told me your office accepted the IL plan, which is why I had all of their records transferred from their old physician in the city. Since the children where not sick, I did not have a need to call for an appointment until many months later. It was at that time I was told your office no longer accepted the IL plan. Yes I was frustrated on the phone, but not rude. And I certainly didn’t have any lawyers call you to make threats. Your office should have never accepted our children’s records if the office was not going to take their insurance. Thankfully, I have found a physician in the area that we feel much more comfortable with and who our children adore. Plus they take the state IL that foster children are provided. Which I personally think is an honorable thing to do.

I began coming here when my first child was born in September of 2011. We have been seeing Dr. Taback ever since. She always takes time to listen to all of my concerns or questions. I feel very included in the decisions pertaining to the health of my children. My son is old enough now to know what it means when I tell him that we’re going to the doctor and he actually gets excited to go. He likes it there and the Doctor and nurses are very patient with him even though he can be a crazy little 2 year old sometimes. We have since had a 2^nd baby and our experience has been just as good with her. The few times that I have called them with questions, I have been very pleased with their customer service. Dr. Taback usually gets right on the phone with me, if she is available. I think that is going way above and beyond for her patients. I do think that they have become much busier since I first started to use them in 2011 when they were a new practice. I would recommend scheduling your wellness appointments far in advance if you have a specific time of day that you prefer.

We’ve seen Dr. Thompson since my son was born (now 5 months). As a first time mother, I’ve gotten all of the information I need, exactly when I need it. Never have I felt overwhelmed or stressed or judged (bottle feeding). The office is pristine, the staff really friendly and it’s super convenient for us. Dr. Thompson has been great and we are thrilled to have found this practice!

I transferred my son to Dr. Stanos after he reached 1 year. Dr. Stanos has been seeing my daughters since birth. Overall, I am VERY pleased with this office and the staff.
Dr. Stanos has a bubbly personality. She’s super sweet and always chats with my kids. She talks to me about everything that’s taking place– and any and everything that could possibly go wrong. She remembers us when we come in. The nursing staff that work there are also friendly and extremely helpful.
For us, Saturday hours are extremely helpful. I also like being able to call and use current technology to chat with the doctor. (Texts, Picture messages.).
The office is clean. I never feel rushed. I love our pediatrician.

I was in search for a Pediatrician for my newborn son & 2 daughters & am I glad I came across them on Unilocal.I absolutely LOVE both Dr. Taback and Dr. Stanos. I don’t mind seeing either one of them & neither do my children. The staff is very friendly unlike the place we came from. Their office is nice, clean & very comfortable.

We used to go into the city to see our son’s pediatrician but with another baby on the way we had to find a practice closer to home. A friend of mine recommended Dr. Taback and one visit and we were hooked. Both Dr. Taback and Dr. Stanos are wonderful. We have seen both doctors frequently and they are the best. They are thorough and you never feel rushed or like you are a bother. They take your concerns seriously and brainstorm solutions to ensure you are comfortable. When my daughter was recently born these ladies went above and beyond to ensure my daughter’s jaundice was cured. Dr. Stanos called us on a number of occasions (even on a Sunday) to monitor my daughter’s progress and suggest next steps (and was beyond nice while doing so). These doctors really care about our children and run a great practice — the level of care is outstanding. Their staff is friendly and their nurse (sorry, can’t recall her name) is wonderful with children and just a lovely person. Also, you can email quick questions to the doctors and you get a response on the same day.

We went through 3 pediatricians before finding Dr Taback and are very glad to have found her. There is little if any wait at the office — which is quite possibly the nicest and cleanest doctor’s office in the Chicago area. Dr Taback takes her time with each visit and is very patient, thorough, and knowledgeable. You can tell she really cares about her job and the kids. We have called in once or twice with questions (sometimes at less than desirable hours) and she personally answered and was very helpful and patient with us.

We recently moved to Oak Park, and I was researching pediatricians in the area and so glad that we chose Dr. Taback. She has walk-​in sick appts M-​F from 8:15 — 9:15 and she even came into the office on a Sunday to see our daughter who had strep. So nice to not have to go to urgent care on a weekend and get to see your pedi who is familiar with your child. The office is very clean and nicely decorated and the receptionist is very friendly. The office has the small town feel where they know you by name and it is not overly busy. As a mom of two and a practice manager of a neurosurgery practice for 10 years, I highly recommend Dr. Taback.

Dr. Taback is probably the best pediatrician that my 9 month daughter has seen. We have seen various pediatricians in the area, and Dr. Taback has been by far the most accessible, caring, and knowledgeable out of the mix. I would highly recommend her to any parent for their child and wish I had a doctor like her when growing up!
