Came here and was amazed at how amazing the hair washing aka spa room was!!! The light fixture in the center is beautifully lit and it’s dimmed light enough to be completely relaxed while getting a nice scalp message. Hey the haircut and color was nice too! I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep… Erika did an excellent job on my hair and Alex did a great head message and wash. Totally recommend this place.

Victoria is wonderful. I am very fussy and thought I had to go to the city to have my hair done! Not so the last year. She is creative … Plus talented, fun and gives honest suggestions and opinions on what will look best. The «experience» is an awesome+

Jenna is simply amazing and she’s one of the nicest people I know! She cuts my super curly hair in a way that makes it beautiful, manageable, and low maintenance. I always get a ton of compliments on my hair (who doesn’t love that!) and I don’t have to travel into the city anymore to get a fantastic cut. Win-​win for me.
Oh and the lather lounge is awesome, I could relax their for hours if they let me.

I came in today to be a hair model for Eri and I was SO impressed! I was going to have my hair dyed for the first time and she had so many great ideas for me and also put my nerves to rest. When the color was done, she washed my hair along with a head, neck, and shoulder massage! The cut was just as amazing as the color. Will definitely be back!

I have been going to James Anthony for years! Victoria is amazing! They do a fabulous job. You must do the Experience!!! It’s a 20 minute shampoo with a head massage. I fall asleep every time! The staff is so friendly. The salon is chic! 5 stars!

I am only giving this review due to prices. The stylst who did my hair was very nice and took time with me. Over the weekend I went in for highlights and a basic straight accross hair cut (easy) nothing at all hard. Our bill was $ 320 dollors. I did get a toner and conditioner but no blow out and left wet is the freezing cold. I have had my hiar done is LA, Newport Beach, CA, Downtown Chicago, and NY. This price was outragious and unfrotuantly I will not be a long term customer due to this. My suggetion would be to check out the prices before you make an appointment.

First hair cut after baldness from chemo and the return of my hair. I told Jackie I wanted something «short and sassy». My cut far exceeded my expectations! I feel like a new person. Thank you Jackie. You are the greatest.

I can’t give enough praise for my experience at James Anthony and for my stylist Mandi. I wanted a big cut and planned to color for the first time. Mandi took the time to talk me through all my options, explained what the whole process would be, and gave her advice, which I’m happy I took. She even gave me a heads up on what the final pricing would be once we decided on what I’d be having done, just as a courtesy and so there would be no surprise come check-​out. I’ve never had that kind of consideration before and it was greatly appreciated. From the minute I walked in the door until I left, I got great service from everyone who helped with the final look. The end result was absolutely flawless. Mandi is a true artist. Both my cut and color (ombré) were perfect, and far exceeded my expectations. And yes, as many have said, the wash room is amazing. Mandi did a great job educating me on how to best style and maintain my cut and color, but there was no pressure to buy product. She gave me all the information I needed to understand what and why I should use certain items in my hair, and left it at that. It was refreshing and I left with more product as a result since I didn’t feel pressured into it. All in all, amazing salon and AMAZING stylist.

Coming out here from San Diego meant that I had to play hit or miss a couple times before finding a great salon. I was fortunate enough to find Lindsay who is s master stylist here.
Of course I walked in afraid and whining in fear with a negative attitude. I was then embarrassed when she finished the gorgeous highlights and cut by saying «thanks for trusting me to do your hair.»
She made me look like a movie star!
Lyndsay rocks, and I’m back to getting compliments again! Not a cheap experience but very much worth it. Just remember: if you think it’s expensive to hire a master, wait until you hire an amateur!
The products they sent me home with are very good too, I was impressed by the latest Paul Mitchell Marula Oil line. As a die hard Bumble and Bumble, Oribe and Davines fan this is saying a lot.

Erika has been cutting and coloring my hair for years now! I have thick curly hair and she has been great with helping me with new styles! I would recommend her to anyone along with any of the other girls!

I’ve never been here for a cut or color. I come here occasionally for blow outs. I try for Dominica or if I can’t get her any other stylist is excellent.
If your not up on things. Here’s the deal. You have someone who shampoos you and they give you a scalp massage and shoulder massage it’s excellent. But what I wish they would ask is if you want the shoulder massage some don’t they just do it.
Than the stylist takes care of you. Than you tip both, you should it’s only fair.
Nice place, they text you to remind you of your appointment which is a plus. I go when my stylist is out of town she’s closed on Wednesdays. Sure it’s $ 35 and parking is not free it’s Oak Park people. But they are nice and accommodating. Give them a shot for a blow out. I do always love them. Ive also had a mani/​pedi but at the original location it was excellent.

I’ve had the worst humiliating time at this salon for wanting to dry my hair on my own after doing touch ups.
After asking my colorist if I could dry my hair myself and gotten an «okay» from her. I started drying them, when all of the sudden the salon manager came and took away the hair dryer off my hands as it was «policy» not to let clients doing it.
I felt soo humiliated as she wisked away the dryer in front of the colorist who did my hair and said nothing and other clients. I often go to Charles Ifergan and have never had such a bad experience when doing it.
If indeed, it is a true policy, it would have been much more appropriate to let me finish and tell me as I was paying the service that per policy they could not let clients do on their own and next time I would not be able to. I will never go back and so my entire family.

I have been a client of James Anthony for six years and have always had a great experience. Jenna takes the time to get to know what you like about your current cut/​style, what you don’t, how you actually style your hair at home and what you’re hoping to achieve… every time! I have referred friends and family to her and they have had the same wonderful experience. From the moment you walk in the door, to the lather lounge relaxing shampoo/​head massage, to your time out of the chair you are pampered. I would highly recommend James Anthony Salon and Jenna.

Things I loved: I loved that I controlled the length of my bangs. Seriously. That is brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrilliant genius.
Head massage was delightful.
The pre-​cut consult. Great.
The cut. I’m really having a good time figuring out all the options. And hey! There are options!
My selection of stylists. I really read through every word of the bios and I think Victoria was perfect for me.
What I did wrong: I forgot to say that I hate product. I even hate that we have a word called ‘product’. I should have said that up front and I didn’t and I ended up with 4 different kinds of goo and I can’t even really stand one really and yeah, I find that ‘setting it all up for you on the counter’ thing to be Very Aggressive and I don’t like it and it makes it way too easy to say no which is a bummer because I might have been talked into a travel size just to try it but not like that.
Anyway. Yay!

I’ve been going to Stephanie now for about 2 years after several years of going into the city for cuts and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I have very fine, wavy hair and I’ve never been completely happy with it until I had a cut from Stephanie. When I decided to color my hair after years of not doing so, Stephanie did a wonderful job. When I decided to go from shoulder-​length hair to a very short bob I trusted Stephanie and she gave me the most beautiful cut I’ve ever had. I constantly get compliments on my cut and color and even worked with her for my wedding. She’s given me the cutest, easiest cut I’ve ever had for my hair type and I absolutely love her work! She’s also lovely to talk to and extremely knowledgeable. I always look forward to my appointments. I would recommend Stephanie to everyone!

I have been going to this salon for over 8 years. Maggie was my stylist and she is amazing. Best stylist I’ve ever had. I’m very light blonde and she always did it perfectly.
Recently, Maggie took a leave of absence so I decided to go to another stylist. She was great too. On my most recent appointment I was double charged $ 170 for my services. Not only did I not receive a phone call about this mistake, it has now been a week and a half and I still have not received my money back. The salon was aware of this mistake and did not alert me. After several phone calls they eventually told me to call and deal with the issue on my own and took no responsibility for this major inconvenience.
I’m extremely disappointed with this customer service. I’m sorry to say they have lost a long time client.

Made a last minute appointment the day of for a Sunday afternoon trim since most other salons in the area were closed on Sundays.
I was about 15 minutes early for my appointment and expected to wait, but I was only sitting there a moment or two before my stylist came to introduce herself and take me back.
Mia, my stylist, was great. I have long hair and only wanted a trim, but during the cut she noticed that I had a face of fear when I thought she had gone too short. She picked up on my body language and immediately reassured me that it was not as short as I thought. I appreciate that she was so attentive throughout the cut and the end product was much better than I had expected. Completely trust Mia and I will be returning to see her there again!
I do recommend browsing their travel size basket for products as most of the expensive regular size bottles of product (which are pricey) can be found in mini, much less expensive bottle. At least this way you can try the products out for a little while, making sure you like them before spending a lot of money on the full size.

I’m brand new to James Anthony Salon, but needed a haircut and was able to get a same-​day appointment. Brianna was my stylist. She was very friendly and I felt pretty bad for her, because I am not a chatty person and did not carry much of a conversation with her. She was able to take care of my haircut pretty quickly and the blowout lasted for about 3 days and 3 hot yoga classes. The shampoo experience was wonderful and a nice touch. Parking was easy, prices reasonable. Overall, I thought it was a fun and unpretentious salon. I live in the area, so I will definitely keep it in mind for the future.

I used to come here a lot more but lately I feel like someone is always pressuring me to buy something. First let me say I love that wash n massage quiet room they have because it is the most genius thing a salon could do and they should patent the idea because other salons will or should do the same. They have a closed off room with fancy art and you get your hair washed and scalp massaged in this low lit calm atmosphere and it’s insanely awesome. The staff are okay and I never went to the same person twice. What really pushed me away was the product bashing the facial/​aesthetician people do. And then tell you that you have to buy all the products they recommend or you won’t get the full benefit. This place could be a 4 star if it weren’t for the car salesman pressure you get before you check out!

I went to this salon for a year before deciding to go somewhere closer to home (and a bit cheaper). The service has always been very good with the exception of the Asian girl who works at the front desk. Dumb as a rock. (Best moment was when she told me to wait because «We weren’t expecting you for another 6 minutes» and then forgot about me. 20 minutes later, I made eye contact with the other receptionist and heard her whisper something to the first one. She came around and said, «Have you checked in?» What? I told her that I had checked in with her and she had told me to wait. She looked confused, disappeared for a sec, and then came back and brought me back to get my hair washed. Wasted a lot of my time.)
I’ll miss the «Lather Lounge Experience,» I looked forward to that more than the haircut! My stylist (Erika) assessed my hair like a doctor would, seriously, she came up with the cause for my styling issue, a plan of care, and an estimated time it would take! My hair was always cut very nice. I have medium-​long hair of normal texture and it cost me $ 50.
One thing I didn’t appreciate was the sales pitch at the end of every. single. haircut. I don’t want to have to explain that I don’t need more styling products everytime I come in. Also, pushing me to schedule my next appointment even after telling them that I’d call when I need it always irritated me.
